Someone has their hopes up...

Probably an expensive mistake made by someone trying to forge daggers
Believe me, they sell.
Legendary counter: Twilight, Bolt, Incinerator, Incinerator Nr. 2, Meteorlogicus, The Dreamer
Believe me, they sell.
Is there a reason for that? People accidentally buying?

Well, at the moment every dagger listed for sell orders less than 15 gold have sold. Which means at least a few probably sold for 10g to 14.99g.
Someone wants to throw a bunch of greens into the MF, and buys 250 daggers without checking the total price. There are, say, 120 low priced daggers and the rest are various prices from 5s – 15g. Suddenly his wallet is 200 gold lighter, and a lot of people who listed items for sale six months ago and forgot about them get a surprise.

Wow, that’s interesting. Thank you very much for the explanation.
Though in this case it’s a level 50 dagger, so odd to throw into the forge!

People do things for odd reasons sometimes. Maybe it was someone looking for cheap rares – the forge produces one rare in an average of five forges, so roughly 16 greens will make one yellow (4 tries and if no rare, forge the 4 greens you got for a fifth attempt). So if the greens are about a silver each the average rare will cost 16 or 17 silver, maybe sell them for 20+ and make a small profit.
But someone miscalculated and bought out the entire inventory, I checked the TP a few mins ago and there were a grand total of five green hearty steel daggers available. One sold so there are four right now.
Or, someone with too much gold likes to toss random stuff in the MF and just buys out the entire inventory to do it.

The thing is the forge only bumps things up by 5-12 levels, if its a level 50 dagger the best you could get is kitten -62 rare, neither of which would sell for 20+ or could even be salvaged for ecto… even if they were all 62 they still couldn’t produce a max level exotic either… peculiar choice indeed… (my apologies if you can put 50s in with 70s and end up with a much higher result… seems like it would be based on average or lowest level though.)
The MF returns an item that is 5-12 levels higher than the average of the 4 items, so you could “cut” your 50’s with some 70’s and get some 70’s back.
Ironically now there is 4 on there at 3 gold each (3 sellers)…

Well, if the guy accidentally bought 200g worth of daggers that vendor for <1s, I figure he didn’t really plan things out so well.
On a similar not, how come there are several blue weapons being bought in the hundreds with a buy order 2x vendor price?

For the last few months, the montly achievement options have included 500 salvages. The dailies often include 10 savlages as well. Towards the end of the month a lot of people are rushing to get the monthlies, and blues that vendor for 25c can sell for 1s or more, sounds like someone trying to get a jump on the salvaging rush.
Speculation, but if successful you can double your money or more without a lot of effort.

Weapons dont stack, so you think somebody buys 250 weapons for 25c to sell later on for 100c? Thats like 5 gold profit for occupying 250 bank slots.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.

I’ve done it.
Buy weapons, they sit on the TP waiting to be picked up.
Pick up X weapons, place sell orders for your target price.
Repeat until all weapons are listed on the TP.
Eventually, the weapons sell and you pick up the money. They don’t have to ever sit in the bank.
It’s not quick money, but it’s pretty certain that they will eventually sell, unless you set a ridiculous price – see the “15 gold for a green level 50 dagger” thread.
Well, well, well… This is interesting to know if I ever have some spare level 50 green daggers lying around. Although, I’m surprised that the person who wants to hurl tons of green weapons into the Forge doesn’t just put up a buy order for level 78 Green weapons in the hundreds. I swear I merch dozens of level 78 – 80 blues/greens every day just because they’re so common that buyer interest is negligible.
I’m fairly certain that was just a glitch with the AH / Spidy etc – there were no mass purchases.
Quite a few of my speculations were all ‘bought’ NOT! :-(
The other reason to put lvl 50 greens into the forge is that some of the mid-level rares sell for 3-5x what a lvl 70-80 rare does.

That’s waaay to much of a hassle, especially if you’re doing that for monthly salvaging.
You save a miniscule amount of gold, and if you’re good at playing the TP I very much doubt you would even do this since time/bank space is money.

It’s not spidy. I logged in and looked at the TP, there were five daggers left, only one less than 3 gold. The rest of them were bought out, but I’m sure within a few hours crafters had refilled the market.

Not sure what you mean, I’m talking about selling weapons to people buying them for salvaging or whatever. Buy a bunch at X, pick them up from the TP, relist them for X + Y. I believe it’s called “flipping.”
They never touch my bank and time is irrelevant, it takes about ten minutes.
I approach it the way I approach the rest of the game, casually. It’s expensive to level and gear 16 toons, so a little bit of money coming in from different sources helps. It’s not a job or anything. I’m not a TP Master like you, lol.
