Long story short, I purchased the Bonepick and the Jack-in-the-Box gathering tools, and soulbound them to my Elementalist.

Now I have become curious about the gameplay style of the Guardian, and have become disinterested in my Elementalist. However, I am opposed to starting a new character because I feel buyer’s remorse for spending $20 on a character I am no longer interested in playing. Does anyone else feel this way? Any suggestions for getting over the feeling?

I don’t believe that such expensive and low-impact tools should be soul bound, only account bound.

There are a few threads about this and most agree—-they should be account bound. However, NCsoft likely controls this with an iron fist and a Anet has no say in the matter.

Bad deal, I guess. I won’t be spending another dollar on Soulbound gear, that’s for sure.

You bought soulbound items (it says in the description that it’s soulbound) and it warns you when equipping the first time, and now, after the purchase, you don’t want it to be soulbound.

Cool story, join the line.

Just posting my opinion about a discouraging micro-transaction mechanic. I would be much more inclined to purchase items of convenience if I didn’t fear buyer’s remorse in the future.

Yeah, I’m the same. Not complaining at all. ANet should do what they think will make the game most successful. Just adding my voice to the “I would buy account bound tools, but do not buy soulbound ones” pile.

This is true for a lot of the stuff in the gem store. Tools, skins, dyes.

I want to feel like I’m investing in my account with cash, not a specific character, especially for time limited tools, skins, dyes. What if I want to roll an alt a year from now? I’m out of luck?

It’s a frustrating business model that actively disincentives spending money, at least to me.

Don’t worry OP guardians are mindnumbingly boring, you’ll be back on your ele eventually. And yes I agree its a stupid idea to soulbind gathering tools when no other tools in the game soulbind.
