So a Dragon Wing Cover just dropped for me in Cursed Shore.

What’s the speculation regarding this item? Would it be better to sell before or after the event?

After. It’s currently at it’s low and the price will slowly go up over the course of the year. I suggest holding it for a few months before considering selling it.

Dragon Bash is still going on until July 9th, so theoretically the wings will still be dropping even when people have moved onto the Aetherblade stuff. I think most people have already bought a pair if they wanted them, so I’m not sure where they’re at now is the lowest they’re going to go. I’ve routinely been seeing orders for 100+ filled as well, which tells me there’s really no shortage of this item.

You may be holding onto it for a long time if you want more than ~9g for it.

Take a look at guild wars 2 spidy. In the first day there are almost 200 on the auction house. So for a 30 day event, you’ll be seeing like 6000+ wings, those arn’t even include the ones people don’t sell.

The way I see it, it’ll take a very long time for it to go back up. Just take a look at super great sword and it’s volume is only 200 now.

I’m keeping mine. But I’m really looking for very long term investment. Maybe in a few years it’ll go up. But expect to take a very long time because the volume is “huge”.

Bear in mind as well that Colin has confirmed the Wings merchant will remain year-round (in order to soak up supplies of Zhaitaffy remaining after the event), which means that additional wings could still come onto the market by people buying up loads of cheap Zhaitaffy and creating the Wings via Jorbreakers. So basically, depending on how much Zhaitaffy is on the market after Dragon Bash is over, we could be looking at low prices for the Wings until next year’s Dragon Bash.

At current prices zhaitaffy sets a ceiling of 50g on wings. The lowest this ceiling can go is 10g and that is if zhaitaffy reaches 1 copper. Personally I don’t expect zhaitaffy to get this low due to helpful food you can buy with it, so I expect wings to spike somewhere between 15g to 25g near the end of the event and then fall back down for a while.

The reason is everytime I put up a buy order, I got the item within 1 minutes. If you think about it that’s like 1440 wings being sold in a day. Cross finger and hope everything go well.

how would you guess. That’s what I’m thinking. I got 9 lvl80 and making another guardian.

So in any cases, my investment flunk, I’ll take the loss and just equip all my character with wings.

There is nothing to use gold for anyway. Beside playing auction house tycoon. That is if you are not in to legendary, and I’m not into legendary.

Dragon Wing cover is NOT a good item to speculate in

1.) Item has considerable supply
2.) Demand for such an item is low (especially considering the shatter wings are aesthetically superior and easy to acquire)
3.) Any sort of profit made on speculating will take several months to a year – at which point you need to keep in mind opportunity costs
