So in week 3 of the blogposts concerning the new feature patch, Anet will talk about:
In the September 2014 Feature Pack, we’re rethinking the way you collect and trade items!

What do you guys think will be introduced?

Personally, i hope for some QoL fixes for the TP UI, just like for the crafting UI.

I don t think they will alter the way the TP works or introduce direct p2p trading. I guess the changes to trading items will propably be focussed on trading with nps. In the past couple of LS updates we could already see various new trading and collecting mechanisms being introduced (bazaar merchants, geode trader etc) and I expect a major overhaul of existing reward structures based on the data they collected during the last months.
It also seems that alot of changes are coming towards the way you level from 0-80 in general, so i wouldnt be surprised, if dynamic events and map completion get additional rewards.

And hopefully, they also introduce some new ways to spend your account bound currencies.

In general, i think they will introduce a couple of new ways to trade your loot for other rewards (ascended mat trader).

I don’t think we will see P2P, that would the equivalent of pantsing the BLTP and forcing it to shuffle around in public.

I would not be surprised if they adapted the functionality of the BLTP.

Good gods I hope it doesn’t cost karma. I never have enough of it as it is, for the things I need.

I don’t think we’ll see direct trade either, at least I sort of hope we don’t. It’s rather peaceful to not have “wtb” “wts” “wtt” all over the place. But, I’ve been wrong before and I’m positive it wasn’t for the last time lol.

Beyond that, I really don’t know. Maybe the sorting ability that so many have asked for? They are revamping the crafting UI, so I could see them doing work on the TP UI at the same time.

The changes to collections have my attention. Maybe they are updating the wallet or the collections tab to hold some of the collctable things we have (geodes, foxfire, festival tokens, gauntlet tickets, etc). Here’s to hoping on that.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

This. At the very least, I hope we get some filters for light/medium/heavy armor. Filters for gear stat combos would be nice, too

The “collect” part is interesting. We already have stack size boosters, a currency wallet, a separate crafting/collectibles bank, and tweaks to the way that gear drops are handled have already been announced. So what more could they do on the collecting/storage end?

One thing that would be nice would be a gear wallet similar to what they have in FFXIV, where you can store a few different pieces of equipment for each slot (including weapons). This would not only save bag space but make switching gear sets easier as well.

I know a lot of people (myself included) have asked for such a thing, but I don’t think that would fall under collecting and trading.

Maybe they’ll introduce a system where you can pay a set amount of Gems to have your item listed in a priority queue. So if Item A has a low price of 1 Gold, but you pay Gems to list yours for 1.5 Gold, the 1 Gold priced item can’t sell until yours does!

Another feature I hope for is that they do a transaction history in that when I sell 1,000 of something for let’s say 5 silver, I do not see 10+ pages of of random amounts being sold.

Yeah, I’m keeping my expectations low. But here’s a list of potential changes I’d love to see:

- Dungeon runes are now tradable, similar to dungeon sigils.
- You can once again throw in 4 random Superior runes/sigils and get back a random Superior rune/sigil (should help normalise prices between the super expensive ones and the 1c above vendor price ones)
- You can now salvage WvW and karma gear directly. (Would help boost supply of Ectos (and indirectly, Crystalline Dust) and cloth.)
- Light/Medium/Heavy Armor sorting filters
- r500 Chef and Jeweler

Direct player-to-player trading is extremely unlikely to happen, since it would bypass the TP tax which is a huge component of keeping inflation in check.

@Lanfear: That’s actually a neat idea I hadn’t previously considered! Remember the “Heavy Equipment Packs” that got introduced for GW1? Maybe everybody gets a new bag slot that gets filled with an Equipment Pack, which is used only to store weapons and armor that are soulbound/account bound to our character. (Furthermore, these packs prioritise soulbound/account bound equipment, so if you’re weapon swapping, this means you won’t accidentally put your Exotic soulbound weapon into your normal loot bags and maybe selling it by accident.) This helps give players who have multiple gear sets more space to carry their loot.

At the same time, these Equipment Packs (of varying tiers) can be crafted, introducing more material sinks.

I do, and I know some people have asked for something like that to come into this game. Some QoL for those that carry multiple weapon sets or armor sets. We have bags that prioritize “junk,” crafting materials, looted weapons and armor, and bags that hide, but nothing like the GW1 equipment packs that prioritize “owned” weapons and armor.

Other’s have suggested maybe an account bound “bag slot” that could be purchased, and then things placed into it would be available across characters it was purchased on. For something like this to exist, I think it would need to be an individual purchase per character to access, which people wouldn’t be pleased with. But it might be “too much” convenience for just one purchase.

My thought had been instead of a bag, a ‘closet’ tab, potentially accessed through the hero panel. Sort of like the wardrobe. But again, it would have to be a purchased thing and it still poses the issue of potentially making things “too easy” for the user. Since the general idea (for me) wasn’t making carrying it around easier (which technically it would since you could store it there and access it anywhere), but making the sharing across characters (account bound ascended for example) easier.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Maybe this has come up already: paying with karma? Maybe if a player is interested in gaining some karma for something they could list whatever-it-is and price it with karma points instead of coin (or both, of course).

Well gonna toss my thoughts out there now.

Reimagining collections
Maybe some bank spots for things like blade shards, foxfire, etc. A “mystic forge” collection so to speak
An adjustment to the base stack size?

Trading 2.0
Maybe direct p2p trading?

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I think you’re right on reimagingin collections, but I don’t think they’ll adjust the base stack size, as that goes against their gem store.

Trading 2.0 definitely seems like direct p2p trading. It would be interesting to see how that works.

If there is gold involved, perhaps there is a 15% cut? What if it was a barter transaction – how would that work out?

I would bet against P2P trading. What would be the payoff? Any subjective, emotional payoff generated by market libertarians would be offset by the subjective, emotional loss of people claiming they were scammed.

Imho, P2P would only add instability.

Trading 2.0 could be more advanced trading tools designed to assist advanced traders.

Trading 2.0 could be the basic functionality missing from the BLTP since release such as better filters and search functions.

Trading 2.0 could be out-of-game apps (bad idea imho).

Trading 2.0 could be a GW2spidy timeline showing the changing value for each item traded.

Maybe. Depends on how much they adjust it. Keep in mind that the change to the transmute system and skin unlocking impacted the gem store too. So, there is some precedent there.

Changing the base stack size wouldn’t negate their collection expanders though. It would just allow us to horde that much more. hehe.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

The cynic in me makes me suggest “maximum order size is now based on the collection max you’ve unlocked.” ;-) Some of the regulars here would probably salivate at this one, but I have no interest in it.

Some more interesting ideas (both Collections and Trading):

- Bought items from BLTP go straight to Collections, when appropriate. Same for any salvage materials, and various Crafted items that already have Collection slots.
- All LS ‘stacked’ items get Collections slots. i.e. Blade Shards, Mystic Cogs from first Wintersday, Foxfire Cluster, etc. This would free up about half a bank tab.
- Collection slots for Gem Shop stacked items (Boosts are the big culprit here, but also Revive Orbs, Repair Canisters, etc). This alone would free up almost two bank tabs. :p

- Ability to salvage the remaining Karma and Dungeon gear would be nice. I could then sell six Melandru off my armor (using BLSKs) instead of four. :p
- Trading of Dungeon Tokens and BoH. (I tossed this in for fun, I’ll have a heart attack if I’m right…)
- Trading of (currently) untradable minis. i.e. the Wintersday ones. I have no interest in them, let me sell them to someone who has an interest.

- A larger (enforced) gap for the buying and selling of Gems. Unlikely to be announced, but I eventually expect this for the long-term (using the WildStar cost ratios as a guideline, which I thought was a much better implementation of the PLEX setup).
- Re-balancing (mostly down) of some Gem Shop item costs. Keys would be a nice start, but there’s plenty of other targets for this. (Unlikely, but putting it out there anyway.)
