So I got the Gas Mask skin from the Tower of Nightmare patch and used it on my Mesmer. Skins like those are universal in terms of what armor type it can be used on. Now I used a splitter so get the skin back because i wanted to use it on my Engineer. Found out the skin is now a separate item listed as Light armor only. Was there a notice about this happening that I just happened to over look or is there a way I can get this to be a usable item again for a medium armor profession?

Before it was a skin it was an item. The item lets you pick which skin you want. Once you picked the skin the item disappears and gives you the skin of the armor type. So splitting it would only give you the skin type back, not the original item.

yeah i did the same thing with the quiver, thought i could use it in pvp, they arent very clear on it, its just another way a company makes money from suckers.

You should maybe ask the support for help. After all that i’ve read they seem to be really helpful in cases like this especially if items from the Shop are involved.

What about weapon skins? If I have the fused longbow on a weapon can I use the splitter to get the skin back and then sell it? Will the spliter give me the skin back at all?

You will never be able to sell used items or skins, you can only with some tricks move them to some of your other characters.

beldin they dont help in this situation, they advise that you should of correctly read both the description and the warning, in other words they dont care that you didnt get what you wanted but they thank you for the cash and the other 5000 gems you purchased
