[Suggestion] Gem Purchase Deals
Suggestion 1 would basically never work in the long run, because the gold-sellers won’t really lose out on anything by keep lowering their prices, while ArenaNet on the other hand would end up getting way too little income in order to stay alive.
Suggestion 2 might work.
What needs to be done though is getting people to understand that it is basically the players fault that there is a large amount of gold-selling spam. If no-one bought from them, they would stop and move on. And if people actually had secure accounts they would not get hacked accounts to use, which would also lessen and potentially remove the issue.

More likely the gold sellers will take advantage of the official sale and resell for even lower prices
Well, you can’t fix stupid. Since anyone can join and play GW2 some less intelligent ones are bound to come in. And then lose their accounts cus they don’t know how to keep their information safe. Stupid people exist, can’t erase them completely, have to deal with them somehow… And no, they’l never understand whatever it is you want them to understand, they just can’t. Frustrating, I know.
As for people buying the gold, if only you could convince everyone to have high morals and pay the developing company instead of some 3rd party even though its cheaper. Good luck with that.
Sobat, I don’t see how they would do that? They’d buy the gold and then sell it at lower price..? So they’l lose money over it? Does not compute…
Well that was assuming they had a stock of gem cards in addition to gold.
Anet adjusts gem → gold ratio, gold selling sites cash in gem cards and resell their new bounty of gold.
ANet doesn’t set gem to gold ratio, not directly. They set up a system to handle setting the rates based on selling gold for gems and vice versa.

They set the initial rate, but after that point, the gem → gold and gold → gem rates are 100% managed by players.

And that’s what I said.
