Like the topic indicates, I would like for Anet to consider allowing us to buy individual items from the armor sets currently available on the BTLC. Personally, I really love the designs on these items but I don’t like any “set” enough to purchase it off the BTLC. It doesn’t make sense for me to spend 800 gems ($10 U.S.) when I want only the boots on one set, or the pants on another. As such, I end up not buying anything.

However, if the sets were able to have each item sold individually (like how normal dungeon sets are purchased) then I would easily spend 800 gems (or more) gathering all the items I like. I would assume that if sold separately, the cost would be slightly higher (300 gems for the legs, chest, 200 for boots, etc.) but it would be well worth it. As someone who likes to create a unique appearance for my characters, this would be a great option that is currently unavailable. For simplicity purposes, this could be implemented so that when someone clicks on an armor set, it opens up a new window where they have the option to purchase each item individually or buy the entire set at the discounted 800 gem price.

I also think this would increase sales to Anet and something that, in general, most of the fans would appreciate.

I also think this would be a great thing, although at least with the skins being in the wardrobe now they can be used on multiple characters, making it less painful to buy an armor set for 1 or 2 pieces.

If you haven’t noticed, the single pieces that they have sold on the Gem Store are far more pricey than a full set.

800 for a set of 6 pieces.

Stop giving ANet anymore ideas and just buy a set or don’t buy it. It goes in your wardrobe in case the other pieces grow on you.

I’d still rather pay 400 gems for 1 item than 800 when I know I won’t be using the rest of the set. It’s simple really, pay 300-400 per item or 800 for the entire set. I think this would just give people more options when they are trying to create a very unique look.

And you sir are part of the problem. That’s why we have 500gem gloves, 500gem shoulders, 400gem mask here and there. Instead of well designed set that you can probably use at leas 2 pieces from.

I say no to the idea, because it would make everything unaffordable. No sets would come out anymore, rather you can get separate pieces and put them together for triple the regular price of a whole set.

I have a couple of the Gem Skin sets that I use MINIMUM 2 pieces of the skin.

500 Gems per piece I use is 1000 Gems
The whole skin set was 800 Gems

I don’t even need my degree to tell me which is cheaper for the 2 pieces of the skin I use.

But hey, not all of us have the kind of money to throw at the game like you come off as having.

To be fair, the only way it would work for selling individual items would be to make the cost proportional with the 800 set with perhaps, a slight 10-15% increase in the cost. Outside of this, I agree, there wouldn’t be a point.

I apologize, had no way of knowing. Account name didn’t share any hints.

But we all have that set that we think 1 piece would look amazing with our outfit. But with Anet and the way they are, we cannot expect to get separate pieces of a set on sale. Rather they will design separate pieces alone and sell it for over 60% of a cost of a full armor.

I fell much better buying an outfit for 800gems than let’s say gloves for 500gems, especially since I have multiple alts.

I can see the point if a person is strictly 1 toon player though. But even then the prices for singular skins are outrageous.

No, but it also gives them more of a reason not to make full sets anymore because people with only one toon (like yourself) are willing to pay tons of gems for one piece. This is exact reason why we have 400gem pain masks in gemstore, which is just an outrageous money grab. All while people that are waiting for some quality work are stripped off their gems. Good example would be Toxic Mantle Skin and Toxic Gloves Skin . Two pieces. 400gems each. Together > 800 Gems which is = full priced armor set.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m really picky about what I buy. Since release, I have bought 2 armor sets and both of the glasses. Other than that, I will buy things from the services section but I can’t stomach paying $10 US for just a pair of pants so that I can look even more OP than people on another forum already accuse my class of.

The thing is, I just wanted these so I can walk around town singing, “I’m too sexy for my pants, to sexy for my pants….”

Hahaha. I know exactly which piece of armor you’re referring to xD And I also wish I could get that separately, but for a price more reasonable at let’s say, 250gems?

LOL! Yup! It’s sad but I’m thinking of selling off all my saved crafting items to get the gems I need for those pants. They will just look perfect with the rest of the gear I’ve been collecting.
