Hello everyone. I have no clue if this has been a topic before, but I imagine it has at one point or another..

Why oh WHY have we been cut off from (IMO) one of the coolest armors in the game? I’m referring to the old Tribal Armor, that was apparently an old PvP reward by one means or another.

Now I read up on this armor a bit, and it seems to have been randomly removed during a PvP-PvE patch of some kind a long time ago. On top of the fact that this armor that can’t be obtained by a newer player, like myself, will eat at my need for completion, It also looks cool as heck(stated) and I wish to adorn many characters in its feathery-ness for roleplaying purposes.

I’m sure I’m not the only one out there! My idea is simple, and I’m sure its been suggested like I guessed, but I think it should be stuck on the end of an update for the gem store, a ‘new’ outfit available for whatever the listing fee they deem fit. If not this, than perhaps a karma merchant someplace, or back as a reward for winning something… ANYTHING to get that sweet armor on my characters, and back into the community of featherless tribals!

What does everyone think of this? Have the developers said officially why they discarded that armor? How do you think it should be re-implemented?

My opinion is that you shouldn’t post an exclamation in your title like you did because it will serve only to mislead (and consequently frustrate) people.

Why the gemstore? It could be a regular reward or part of a reward track.

Or it should never be released again that’s only fair. In any case it will never be released on the cash shop.

I came here hoping to find out about tribal armor being available in the gemstore. I guess the exclamation points fooled me.

Anyways I have the tribal armor except for the mask, and that’s annoying. (I have been using the Southsun mask as a substitute, but that’s expensive).

Anyways, all of the Pvp exclusive stuff should return to Pvp in some fashion. Hopefully in the form of reward tracks that are only unlocked when other reward tracks are completed.

The S1 rewards are available for 25 laurels + 15 gold each at the laurel vendor if you havent noticed yet.

So sorry you were all ‘misled’ into thinking that ME, some random kitten player of no worth, would have the inside scoop on every little thing the devs do in the gem store JUST BECAUSE I put exclamation points into the title. In fact, I’m sorry your perception is so bent and rushed that you needed to flame my post and call me an idiot just because of ‘your’ stupid mistake. If it isn’t in a patch, or a website update which the devs have a section all their own for, I’m really confused how this was misunderstood so easily.

In lighter news, thanks for any and all who actually gave their true, relevant opinion weather it be for or against, and another thanks for not being outright kittens about it.

So I understand the view that old PvPers want the armor to be available only to people who earned it. Also, its obvious based on the e-rage that most everyone would enjoy seeing this armor resurface in some what or another.. My updated solution, cutting out the gem store (which is the first, easiest and most profitable option for the developers, which is why I chose it first) and perhaps making it a tournament reward for your team or something, that makes PvPers feel like it still has to be earned through excessive work, but it also doesn’t make it cut off from the PvE side of things where its really wanted.

I still think the easiest and most affordable method for ME would be to make it a karma vendor item, or related in-game easy to acquire reward.. OR for those people who need the prestige sensation, a mystic forge item (once again) so it can at least be crafted on a grind or something.

Anyways, continue with the posts if you wish, and try and keep the flaming to a minimum.. and lets try to not make it based on ignorance :O?

they should just release it with a reward track that is unlocked at pvp rank 30

I think it should be brought back as its own unique PvP track. Maybe a “Primitive” Reward Track that’s designed specifically to give the player low level crafting mats at each tier (up to T5). The final reward is a Tribal armor skin box, with the option of getting a “Big Box of Materials” if you already have all 6 skins.

I don’t really care about Tribal armor, but I really want the Stalwart shoulders and Apostle legs, which are also unavailable (and the only pieces of those sets I don’t have).

Dang I thought this thread was letting us know that the tribal armor IS in the gemstore :-( got my hopes up! :-(

I just wish they gave us the option to unlock the skins – cause not everyone likes PVP, and the fact we can’t get it anymore, or via other alternative ways, is a huge disappointment.

As stated by others, your title is very misleading and it should be changed to one that more accurately describes what your thread is about.

As it is now:

Bringing it to the gemstore is a very bad idea, and so is the karma suggestion. However, I do agree that the set should return, but only available as a pvp reward. It makes sense to make it a reward track, where upon completing the track you would receive an armor box and be able to pick ONE armor piece from the set to make it consistent with the other tracks. To make it more exclusive if it is really needed, as someone already suggested is a good idea to have the track unlocked once you reach a certain pvp rank, or following the system that is currently in place there could be several reward tracks that need to be completed to unlock the tribal one.

PvPers have 7 exclusive armor sets (not counting chest pieces), a handful of exclusive weapons (one really cool one and the rest mostly dross), one exclusive back piece, and one skin in particular that everyone wants, no one’s ever gotten, and now no one can ever get (thanks dudes, you can’t even brag about it). It’s hardly as one-sided as you like to make it out.

That said, I do think you guys deserve some exclusivity, but access to the skins that didn’t make it back should still be possible, even if it means beating on someone else to get them.

No. It was obtained previously without having to pay gems. So it should remain like that.

My recommendation would be making two more sets matching the ‘tribal’ theme, one for heavy one for medium, and make them available in a number of ways.

For example:

- Random exotic gear drop in a new area.
- At the end of region PvP tracks along the weapon skin.
- In WvW as skins in the skin vendor. Or rare drop from scoring objectives people tend to do less.
- As reward in season 1 once it’s upgraded to the Journal.
