GW2 actually has some sort of new content every month, it’s the BL weapon. However, there is no direct access to it so the majority of the community feel disconnected from it.

Instead of creating/deleting a new character form of key farming, I think quest can be introduced to award players more key/scraps. Of course the time required to complete the quest has to be balanced to other farming method, for example dungeon running so there won’t be that big of a impact on the economy.

Like getting an item from fractal, or get another item with dungeon/fractal token, or get different items by completing world bosses. Then you can get maybe a scrap everyday. 10 days for one weapon sound reasonable enough for me and gold/hr is on par with current farming methods but they can adjust that if needed. They can also adjust the time by the amount of tokens needed to get a scrap.

It is more like utilizing what we have in game than actual introducing new content. What do you guys think?

First, gamblers will buy Keys with gems (money for Ncsoft)
Second Keys bought with gold, takes gold out of the economy (good for Anet) and makes converting gems to gold more attractive (money for Ncsoft)
Which lead us to third, people with money will buy gems convert to gold and buy the skins directly fro the TP (money for Ncsoft)
What about people that play the TP and buy them with gold? (gold is destroyed which is good for Anet)
And finally what about Key farmers!? well they provide the skins for people on the third point to buy gems for.

As a player obviously I hate this but I can understand why they won’t change this system and made peace with it.

I understand that. But it would just be like another form of key farm, providing skins to TP for your third point to buy gems, convert to gold and buy it straight from TP.

As mentioned, the time/effort required to get key/scraps/weapon should be balanced so it won’t be more profitable as other farming method.

This is exactly why ANet doesn’t need to do anything:

• If you enjoy keyfarming, great, you can do that and work towards getting scraps.
• If you enjoy farming other things, great, you can do that and work towards earning the gold to pay market rates. As it turns out, this is more efficient than keyfarming, as measured in dollars/euro/pounds spent or hours invested.
• If you enjoy gambling, you can buy keys via gems. (Although, again, it’s more efficient to convert to gold and buy from the marketplace.)

This is exactly why ANet doesn’t need to do anything:

thing with key farming though, it requires a toon to be created and deleted repeatly. Even though Anet had come out and say it’s okay to do so, my suggestion would be more “in-game”. It could also be a series of quests that take an hour or so to do but open to lvl80 toon so no need to delete toons. Or even Nicholas the traveler type of quest. The form can vary, but the goal is to give players the feel of working towards a reward without going through creating/deleting character.

1. Buy gems
2. Convert Gems to gold (open BLTP, on the first tab).
3. Use gold to buy weapons.

Right now skins are about 11-13 bucks

Hope OP realizes this is likely one of Anet’s best revenue streams. They NEED RL gem sales to keep the Servers running so you can show off the BL skins.

This method is NOT going to change.

You are not the first nor will you be the last to make this suggestion.

So here is my own suggestion, the next time you want to make a suggestion directly related to the cash shop items ask yourself this: Why is the current system in place and how would my suggestion benefit both Arenanet and the players.

Any cash shop suggestion needs to be beneficial to Arenanet. Like someone above the current system benefits the player but benefits Arenanet far more. So if you want to make a suggestion make it so that it benefits Arenanet just as much as it benefits the players. if you can’t do that, all you suggestion will amount to white noise.

You are not getting it, nor are you well aware of the situation.

Key farming was/is a byproduct of leveling your character. Anet never intended people to farm it, they just never took it away. So, arguing that they should balance it around other farming methods is ludicrous on face value.

What you fail to understand is, they would sell WAY less keys in the store if there was a legit way to get skins other than from BLC’s. As it stands right now with key farming, you still risk not getting anything, but if you implement your plan, it’s only a matter of time before you get the skin you want. That would cause less key sales and, therefore, less gem sales = BAD for anet. So, why would they ever do that? You are not offering an incentive for them to do so.

They aren’t even expensive on the TP. You could do one dungeon tour in like 3 hours and have enough for a skin. I don’t see the problem here.

It is not intended, but they said key farming is allowed. Even it has been nerfed, some people are still doing it, with a slower pace. And Anet knows it.

I also said they can award keys. You can still get nothing out of it if rngod isn’t on your side.

It is just a suggestion so it is all fine. You are right, the current system works, people will just keep key run or do whatever to farm the weapons at the same rate. I just hope there is another option besides current farming methods and open a more direct route to the “missing” new content.
