Super Greatsword skin
You have to wait some months. These skins really need some time to increase…
I think these skins dont come back ever again. Even if Superbox get reintroduced there will be other skins and skins for other weapons aswell but not the current ones.
I said it some time ago and now again, as soon as the supply is under 100 units the price will really increase… The last days it slowly started to drop 5%-10%. I would at least wait another month. Ghastly grinning Shield Skin took 2-3 months aswell and exploded during the 4th, but it was really low supply(<100) almost all the time.
I can imagine that many people thought that they could make quick profits but skins are longterm items. That would describe the current price.
I, on the contrary, don’t think they won’t be available again. Nevertheless, mine is already sold :/
its all about supply and demand. items like the ghastly grinning shield are scary high, they were a real pain to get out of a chest so its number was already limited, then add in its popular skin
so all you gotta really hope is it stays a popular skin type.
Well, I got bored of mine super GS skin and friend of mine told me I look ugly with it :/ I don’t think it will stay popular.. it’s too weird and angular
I hope they all go up. I was pretty dumb and invested at the wrong time. Bought a few shields at 20g a pop, and all the other pieces for way too much :P
I also invested at the wrong time, but at least it wasn’t the worst time (i.e. when GS was up to almost 80g). At this point I’d be happy to break even. I sincerely doubt I’ll ever make another long term investment like this. I don’t like watching my gold gather dust while waiting for TP prices to rise to what I paid in the first place.

I have all Super skins on my mesmer and I think they look great. The only other option I was considering were the Vision of the Mists type weapons, until I saw the price tags. I still think the Super skins are a nice looking and affordable alternative to a lot of what’s out there.
There’s a rather large supply at the trading post, and I think most current players that wanted it already got it through bauble farming. The price will undoubtedly go up due to new players buying it, but I’m not expecting any wonderous things. There is not that large a group of buyers like with halloween.

That. That there is the key to why prices aren’t really moving. A lot of people forgot that players who wanted the Super skins could just farm them themselves by accumulating baubles. As such, the demand for the Super skins on the TP was largely fueled by speculators buying and selling among themselves, in anticipation for a big price rise when SAB went away.
When SAB did retire after April, these speculators then discovered that most of the people who wanted Super skins already HAD them; Super skins were an investment bubble. Demand plummeted, and so did the prices.
Now, the Super skins WILL move up eventually, but expect it to be in the order of YEARS, not weeks or months. Demand will come from new players who join the game a year or two later, see someone carrying a Super Greatsword, and go, “Cool, I want that!” Of course, waiting for such a long time for your investment to pay off may not be feasible for a lot of players.

I, personally, don’t think it’ll take years.. It will be a long time, but not years.
I think we’ll all be surprised on the movement of old skins once the next world of SAB comes out, course that’s all speculation. <— I believe see the newer skins might drive interest up in the others that are no longer available (for those that missed the previous release)
Okay, let me explain how this works…
When a limited item comes into the game, or an item that will have demand on it, about everyone and your mom is going to buy them up and hoard them to make free profit, meaning you can visually think there is 1 legit buyer to every 10 having the item…. when the event ends, typically means the “hype” or “demand” will too, causing a mega crash, as we seen… time and time again because 9 out of 10 people are trying to dump them for profit, causing an undercut effect on an item that is hyperinflated by price. Until it’s a “reasonable price” they won’t commonly get bought up fast.
Yes… they WILL go up, especially since they were confirmed to be discontinued, however it may take multiple years before all 200+ are bought up by LEGIT users (meaning the skin isn’t sitting in a merchants bank).
A good example are the old Southsun pets, the Mini Hatchling, Karka, and Reef Drake, all were around 15g around the event when it ended, currently worth 60-100+ due to supply and demand from new collectors etc.

1)The devs have confirmed that world 1 will be returning
2)The devs never said the skins won’t drop in world 1 when it returns
3)The devs said world 2 is the one that these skins won’t drop in, since they are getting their own set of new skins
4)Moto may return and have these skins purchasable
Let’s just say, if you’re investing in these skins, you’re making a lot of assumptions and taking quite a risk.

I searched the post -__-….be grateful
“1. We did about half the weapon set with W1. We’ll do the other half with W2.”
" I don’t think we will have the same set of Super Skins at our next release."
But I think I’m still missing a better thread about this skintopic, which I cant find atm.
Josh answers here but I don’t think anything more official than this has been said about the skins.

You’re looking at a minimum of a year before you see profit on these skins. You had a small window to get quick, good profit on them. With the volume and current disinterest this is a long term investment. But assuming these skins won’t be released again as a dev stated is most likely, it’s inevitable that they will eventually go up.
Yep, although bear in mind as well that Josh Foreman isn’t the guy in charge of managing the rewards in the game. He can contribute his ideas, but the final decision doesn’t rest with him. Furthermore, that response of his was “his recollection of a quick conversation in a hallway.” It’s entirely possible that plans might change between now and when SAB 2.0 comes out. Nothing is ever set in stone in software development.
Well, on the plus side even if they are re-released maybe player speculation will drive up the prices again. :P
I really only need the prices to go up by about 10g to break even, but I swear every time I look at them they’re cheaper than the last time. -_- Oh well, I guess if I ever end up taking an extended hiatus from the game (possible with Rift going F2P) then I’ll be glad of having a long term investment.
What if they release the super duper greatsword? I think the super skins will fall if this happens.
The other thing is how many players who don’t have the super skin have enough gold to buy one? To me 30g is quite a bit and there are lot of other things I’d rather spend gold on. But then again I don’t farm so I don’t have that much gold.
Supply dropped in the last few days by 70. Now 150…
As soon as the people with sellorders at 30-33g(which were quite many) are gone, it will rise quicker….
Always imagine that now people want to speculate (again) as they see the increase….So we have a higher demand but we dont know if its backed up by the real economy or speculators..probably both more or less
Think the op actually found the worst day to sell it..
I can’t imagine that many people are buying these skins. If these skins were just part of the normally available skins, for normal skin prices, I still wouldn’t consider buying it just because its so different looking than the style of my character. I’m guessing that I’m not the only person who feels that way.
So my guess is that they move off the TP very slowly, and as they do people who are wondering when to sell will slowly list and things will stay stagnant for a long, long time. Probably until people are willing to part with the skin for whatever they can get for it and start driving down prices.

You would be amazed at how many people like certain items literally only “because they are shiney”. I have a friend who always goes on about how Super GS is one of the best GS skins in the game because it is so shiney. A big reason for this is because a lot of people run on lower graphics settings and/or far zoom where you cannot see the detail and colours that go into a lot of nice skins. If you play like that, you can really only tell the difference on a lot of skins if they are shiney. That’s where the demand comes from.

The SAB skins are some of the best designed in the game. They’re some of the few (besides legendaries) that are animated instead of simply having particle effects. The staff and scepter especially, both weapons are woefully lacking in ‘cool’ skins.

Are you sure your friend isn’t a skritt in disguise?
