I’ve observed this for a few days now. Certain items, like the sentinel’s elder inscription (now), and stuff like “bowl of zesty turnip soup”, not the most popular items in the world, have automated buying bots. What this means is that if I place the highest buy order, it won’t get filled. Anyone that puts up his item within a certain price range gets an immediate sale. This way, the item will never get close to the highest buy order, so people won’t dump their item in the buy order.

Another thing I noticed was that when I tried to buy this item (in this case: sentinel’s elder inscription) a few days ago to “push” the price up, I had to buy the same 3 elder inscriptions over and over and over again until – after having bought 30 elder inscriptions – I had finally bought those “three” elder inscriptions and the price could finally go up. It’s like there were invisible sell orders that I was buying from.

These are not high volume items with which this is happening. With the soup and the inscription, the only way I could go through the invisible barrier was to find out where the automated bot had capped its max automated buy price, and then put my buy order 1 copper above that price.

EDIT: I figured it out, stupid I didn’t think of this first. It’s in invisible buy order. I just bought a sentinel’s elder inscription, and dumped it into my own buy order, here is what happened:

My buy order is 1s14. It was the highest buy order at the time of testing.
However, when I sold the inscription to myself, I did not receive the inscription. Instead, I received 1s48. In my history, it says I sold the inscription for 1s64.

Your lowest buy order does not get filled … what a mystery … why would people sell to higher buy orders instead of your lower?

Please explain it a bit further, because right now it’s pretty obvious, but I do think you are trying to say something else entirely.

No, my buy order was the “highest” of course, at all times when testing this. I’ll edit accordingly, thanks. Also, look at spidy. The buy order for “sentinel’s elder inscription” has never been 1s64. Officially.

It’s still going on. You can test it yourself. The invisible buy order for sentinel’s elder inscription has been raised to 1s72. I received 1s55 upon selling to the highest buy order, which officially was at 1s15 (not mine).

Same thing still happening with “bowl of zesty turnip soup”. Highest buy order is 1s39. I dumped one in there. Sold it for 1s61.

Aaaaand the same thing is being done with Sentinel’s Silk Insignia. Just dumped one in the highest buy order, 2s2. However, I did not dump it in there. I dumped it in an invisible buy order of 2s46, for which I received 2s21.

This post has been up for nearly three hours, yet noone is screaming murder?

Please take the TP down and purge it from these invisible buy orders. And please ban all those using such orders.

Lol at this guy ^. There is a 15% tax to the seller. Obviously you will not get as much money as you would if there had been no tax. Stop renaming / bumping this seriously man, just hit delete.

Please use your head man. I know there is a 15 percent tax. So how do you explain that I receive MORE than the amount at which I’m selling the item?

You seem very keen on making fun of me. But if you’ve read my post, you’ll see this has been going on for days. Or, at least, that’s when I started seeing it. There’s no “glitch” in the system. It’s a gaping hole. Mind you, these buy orders should show up in GW2 spidy. Even if you take a huge delay, they still don’t. They never have.
