Why can’t I just Casually enjoy hammering nails?

Hammers are for noobs and nailguns are P2Win. WoW players use rocks, but they need a new one every six months. The truly hardcore only use their heads.

I appreciate your detailed analysis of the current Nail Meta. Now the question is: What if my forehead isn’t hard enough?

Then you’re nailing the wrong wood. Try something softer.

It seems that my approach to this situation has been wrong the entire time.

On a side note – What do I do if I need to nail two pieces of hardwood together, and my forehead isn’t hard enough? I have yet to encounter this scenario, but I figured I’d ask the question preemptively anyway.

Your best option is probably to ask among your guildmates to see if someone with a harder head can help. You can also ask in general chat but in my experience PUFs (Pick-Up Foreheads) are more miss than hit, a lot of people overstate how hard-headed they are, then abandon you when they can’t handle the nails.

I’ve tried this once. Right when they were about to hit the nail, I was kicked from the party I joined, I lost all progress on my pieces of wood.

As for guildies, none of them are experienced enough to properly use their foreheads, let alone a hammer or nailgun.

Its seems youd be better off buying pre nailed wood, than nailing it yourself. While a nail gun is the most efficient, followed by hammers, rocks and foreheads, its even faster just to buy it. Although PUFs are not always effective, im sure there is a guild or 3 dedicated to driving nails, and have mastered the process using a specific nailing build comprised of nailguns, hammers, and foreheads. Unless of course said nailed wood is account bound on aquire, as im sure it is.

@OP

Sorry about the derail. It was highly entertaining, however from what ive seen so far the greater consensus agrees that the TP is more of a blessing than a curse.

Also it wouldnt surprise me to learn that devs are reading this and laughing just as much as we are. They to have a sense of humor, and pop in from time to time to join.

If you’ve played GW1, then you’d know it was a blessing, and there’d be no need for this thread at all.

Trading Post is fine, but I do wish there was direct trade option available a la GW1 (which was perfectly functional, you just had to be cautious and double-check what you were getting traded). This’ll probably never happen, I know.

You know how many Mursaat tokens I was able to pass off as Ectos?

No I’m kidding. I would never scam anyone.

How does it make money making methods by playing the game obsolete?

everything is worth kitten, almost every drop in the game is kitten thats how
and every good way of making money by actually playing the game is always nerfed because arenanet wants to milk shekels from people exchanging gems to gold
so the only choice is either exploit suckers on tp yourself in the name of capitalism or never get anything nice…or whip out your credit card…gold wars 2
+at least in other games the government wasnt stealing 15% of my kitten

There are so many holes in this argument, I’m shocked I can even see the writing.

It needs more nails to keep it together.

So which money making methods have been nerfed? The only money making method I’ve seen nerfed was champ bags. But it was only by a few copper. Plus it wasn’t a large source of income anyway. AC dungeon actually increased it’s rewards at the end, but its limited to once per path per day, which is whats it’s been for as long as I can remember. While Anet may be pushing the gem store, there is still the option of not using it. It’s not required to buy gems for anything. While I agree that many of the drops are not worth very much, it’s more profitable to salvage them and gather and sell the mats, or use them in crafting and selling those. Also having the 15% tax on the TP helps counter inflation. Without it, you’d would see the prices of EVERYTHING slowly rise till the point where it would cost and arm and a leg for even the most common of rares. From what I understand this is exactly what happened in GW1 and “The game which shall not be named”. Gold become so common that people began trading for much more rare materials. Prices in the other game become over inflated (and having the same money structure as GW2, copper, silver, gold) you started seeing prices of even medium quality gear reach into the thousands of gold. Gold sinks are needed to keep the economy in check. They are a good thing.

I had some guy attempt to trade me a Fire Imp Heart (or something) and try to convince me it was egg from which a mini Kuunivang (sp?) would spawn when double clicked. :p
