TP tips and tricks
I looked at some of your videos. Unfortunately, I found nothing that would break 100K or even 10K. Are you going to keep those tips a secret?
GW2TP’s graphs only show increments as small as :15, so their updates are at best every 15 minutes. Unless, of course, you got suckered into paying for “premium.”
Use gw2tp.com
5 minute updates, faster than any other site. Has every feature and more not locked behind a paywall. I find it very confusing that most people here still cite spidy and gw2tp.net

You are absolutely right, that site is difficult to understand
Is it me or is it not really a spreadsheet but a website? I’m seeing formulas rather than the values.
i.e. the first item, iron ore, has this in the Profit field:
-(1)(9)(45) (-48%)
-(10)(94)(50)/SP??
1g9s45c loss per promote or 10g94s50c per skill point…

1g9s45c loss per promote or 10g94s50c per skill point…
Far far easier to remake it so that 1s = 100 and 1g = 10000. Makes it so much more readable than parentheses.

-(10)(94)(50)/SP??
that means for every time you forge iron ore from copper ore, you lose 1g9s45c, which is a 48% loss. The recipe calls for 1/10 of a SP (1 philo stone), so that’s 10g94s50c loss per SP. it makes more sense on one that’s profitable:
(3)(64) (28%)
(36)(48)/SP
each forging is a profit of 3s64c, which is a 28% profit, and because only 1/10 a SP is used, that’s 36s48c per SP.
Ideally, you’d want high gold per SP, high profit, and high % profit. But you can’t always get that, so instead it just tells you everything and you can decide for yourself how much work you want to do.
you know… I’ll add an option where it will only show the ones that are profitable. hrmmm… I feel like ordering it by profit is doable, but not so helpful (things like arachnophobia and the legendaries would always be on top)
You’ll notice the vast majority are -profit (lose you gold on average). but there are still a handful that don’t. All the recipes that are profitable to either sell or use are highlighted.
It is a website. tables are just really easy to use
I could have it spell everything out, but that would take a lot more space and isn’t really necessary once you know what each column is. I made a mock-up for comparison here (imagine if all 259 forge recipes looked like that)
Sorry to sorta hijack your thread, Vedordra. It is kinda along the same subject…

I always found the parenthesis to be easier… especially when you start mixing in text:
“(15)(63) return = (11)(82) profit = 310.5%”
vs.
“15s63c return = 11s82c profit = 310.5%”
It kinda highlights where the prices are. It could easily be done either way. Is that something I should add?

XXgXXsXXc is much more readable, and understandable, than (XX)(XX)(XX) which looks like it’s incomplete scripting.
Does anyone else realize though that none of these tips will help you break 10k and this guy supposedly has 400,000 gold?
I mean these tips are pretty basic and time-gated to anyone who has been on here for a while.
He himself says he doesn’t even use the material promotion spreadsheets which is pretty obvious because the amount of SP per hour you can farm is pretty low.
changed it. it’s not as bad as I thought. you guys like?

most really good TP stuff will get you in the 100-300g/day range. based on that, you would need to do it constantly for like 2000 days to get 400k. you don’t get 100+k in a year by just doing anyone’s profit-making method. you get there by predicting/guessing that silk and linen with go up 1000%, and similar. don’t expect miracles just from some tips. what’s the quote? “no one ever made millions by working hourly”

I am sure it is something other than just guessing silk or any other cheap mat going up 1000%. If he bought 5 million units (the amount that disappeared before the price started to go up) when it hit rock bottom, he would have only made 85,000 gold if he sold all of them at the maximum price of 2 silver. Not to mention 20,000 storage slots.
I also don’t believe anyone can consistently predict these things unless they have insider information from devs or test servers.
85k gold here, 30k gold there, 90k gold over yonder, 10k gold somewhere else. it adds up.
you don’t actually need 20,000 storage slots. just list them as soon as you buy them – store them as items you are selling.
consistent? not really. but it goes like this: out of 100,000 people trying to predict stuff, I guarantee you, someone has gotten 100% of their predictions right.
a little off topic, but it’s a fun story: there was a scam I heard about a while ago… basically, you print out some fliers claiming to know who’ll win the next horse race, and you make many different versions with all the possible winners. mail those to 10,000 race enthusiasts. guaranteed, one version of those fliers will be correct, and several thousand people will get it (the rest will assume you were full of processed meats). wait until the race is over, call up the people who received the correct one, say you can predict the next race and offer to sell them the info, claiming some sort of inability to bet yourself.
Also, a lot of bets are safer than others. pretty much all limited-time things have gone up in price, for example.

There are not many items that have had the volume and percentage increase of silk.
When you buy out half the supply and relist them all immediately, that’s a very good way to get undercut indefinitely.
I have been discussing this with other large TP players and we all agree that whatever he is doing is goes far beyond what you can earn from conventional speculation, assuming he really has that much gold.

Gewd, I’m not here to divulge any of my personal markets. When I ran this sort of thing in my previous guild that’s the first thing I would always mention. The obvious reason being if i release ALL of my secrets then word will get around and pretty soon I’ll have to find new ways to keep a steady income like i do currently. Yes it is somewhat beyond conventional speculation, investing and flipping. I may touch on this at some point as to what I do exactly (as far as technique goes) but once again, I intend to keep my markets as personal as possible. One of the reasons I try not to release the amount of gold I have in pocket is to prevent begging as well as prevent my account from being a target to hackers n whatnot (Vol was in my previous guild, his info is a little outdated but we’ll forgive him for that ;p). I know that six figures does seem difficult to achieve but when you put as much time and effort into the TP as I have it really becomes much easier to see.
What I’m saying is that the tips you are giving out have been common knowledge for a very long time and they are not likely going to help even the most astute learners reach 10k.
I felt that this needed to be said as it was mentioned you have 400k gold.
As someone who has also spent hundreds of hours on the TP, it is in my personal interest to see new ideas rather than the same stuff said a year ago: buy uncommon BLTC skins, use ectos to gain MF, use spreadsheets to get the highest gold/skillpoint etc…
Whether or not you want to divulge any of it is up to you.

Yes I know most of the tips n whatnot are pretty basic and have been somewhat common knowledge for a year but not everyone in the community spends hundreds of hours on the TP or even gets on the forums to view posts like this. This is also one of the reasons I do the Q&A’s twice a week on the stream, it’s so that players of ALL experience can get on, ask questions and everyone who’s viewing the stream can learn from them.

I think it all comes down to the old, already quoted proverb again:
Give a man a fish and he has food for a day, teach him how to fish and he has food for a lifetime.
It simply isnt possible to give out specific tips to make huge profits. My most profitable markets had to do with market shifts because the game meta or mechanics changed.
And i only made those huge profits because i was one of the first ones to act on them.
That is something you cant put into a spreadsheet but people have to learn by themselves. T1 promotion is a good example.
If you check mystics spreadsheet, you will see that most t1 promotions arent even profitable atm but i claim that i make 5g+ per skillpoint on a regular basis.
In fact, over the last 2 weeks, my profit per skillpoint was beyond 10g because i bought bronze ingots the week before the patch for 50-60c and sold iron last weekend for 5s at its peak.
Even without a market shifter like the bazaar trader, a spreadsheet will never show the profits i make from promoting because i buy t1 when its low and sell t2 when its high.
If you check the price graphs, you will see that those mats easily fluctuate 10-30% within a week, which makes a huge difference to your profit margins.
People who think that watching a video, reading a guide or a spreadsheet will enable them to make thousands of gold quickly and on a regular basis, are delusional.
The more you think for yourself and not follow the flock but run in front of the flock, the more profit you will make. To be able to do that takes alot of time, inital capital to cover losses, knowledge and experience in general in all aspects of the game and its something mostly overlooked by people who complain that the tp enables people to make huge profits quite easily.
If you want to teach people how to make alot of profit, you cant teach them directly how to do it, you have to teach them how to learn do it by themselves.
Its no use, to tell people to buy item x because in a month it will sell for 10 times than what it costs now because that train already departed and they wont have a clue, why this happened. But if i teach them why i think that this will happen, they might be able to make a profitable prediction on their own, when item y gets introduced, enabling them to enter the market at the same time or even before me.
Thats why i think that Vedordras way to teach basics is more constructive for most players that want to make more profits via the tp than giving out specific tips for certain items or mechanics.

On a serious note, T1->T2 is a time sink most people watching that stream don’t want to deal with. T5->T6 (reg/fine/rare) is about as much of a sink as most people can stomach and the return on investment (gold and time) is good enough for most of them.
If you get an average of 5 skillpoints per day, it doesnt take more than 10 minutes per day to buy t1 mats, promote them and sell them.
My average return per skillpoint is more than 3g and i have been doing this on a daily basis since the start of the year. Just like with any other part of playing the game or the TP, the more experience you have, the better you get. My average since Escape from LA is beyond 6g per skillpoint because i know at what day of the week to put in my buy orders and when to sell. The Blade Backpack Iron Frenzy and Bazaar Trader Mat Sinks certainly helped to increase my average in the last 2-3 months. So if you consider earning 100-200g in 1 hour of weekly gameplay a timesink nobody wants to deal with in a stream that is aimed at people that want to improve their trading profits, go ahead and promote t5 mats.
Are you using a website or just looking at what is in demand and then promoting? It would be nice to turn all my skill points into 12,000g
Please stay out of this market… There’s already to much competition and with a guy like you coming the undercutting will be so hard, that you might as well not use skillpoints. I’m dead serious. 2ndly of all gw2 people, you are one of the most rich, so i think you can handle leaving a few gold here and there, not to be picked up.

I’m definitely not the most rich, as I do not flip, I only speculate. I only have 4kg on hand and probably another 1kg in investments and 1-2kg on holdings. Serious TP players have +25, +50 kg and more stored on the TP.

I’m not really asking for you to tell people exactly what items to buy. Believe me, I am beyond that.
But you can’t pretend that anyone is ever going to make the logical leap from the tips you are currently giving out and taking it to the 100k level.
When I first broke 10k, the kind of trading/thinking required was completely different from what I was doing before.

imho helping people break 10k is not the intention of Vedodra’s streams or this thread but to help people reach the single k levels (which is my case). people who have 10k+ don’t need tips i’d think…

This is also one of the reasons I do the Q&A’s twice a week on the stream, it’s so that players of ALL experience can get on, ask questions and everyone who’s viewing the stream can learn from them.
Thats why i think that Vedordras way to teach basics is more constructive for most players that want to make more profits via the tp than giving out specific tips for certain items or mechanics.
This guy gets it.
Well if you want to use the argument “teach a man to fish blah blah”, then these tips are not much better than telling people what items to buy. You can find everything he says by searching “gw2 tp blog” on google. If you can’t even do that, then the problem is lack of motivation, not lack of TP training.
I find it rather misleading that he is telling people to use strategies that he himself doesn’t use. Until I see something unique this just looks like a ploy to get followers on Twitch/Youtube.

Wow you really have an axe to grind with this guy, am very curious as to your history with him… he himself doesnt use because he is in another league as far as gold goes imho. I’d say the vast majority of GW2 players have never seen 1k gold (or if they did they farmed for it to buy their precursor) let alone over 10k. His strategies are valid for those wanting to reach the 1k level and in his streams (I only watched 2 of them) he actually is open to Q&A on speculation which are actually pretty good. Anyway I still find it hard to understand how someone with over 10k is looking for tips to get into the 100k level…
tips required to get to 1000g are different than the tips required to get to 100,000g
1000g you can do things like ecto salvaging, crafting, opening bags, etc.
but for 100,000g, if you tried to salvage items to get there, your finger would fall off. you simply can’t bother with anything where 1 click = 10s.
would you rather he do sessions where he tells people how to go from 1000g to 100,000g? anyone who’s at that level doesn’t need him to tell them what to do. I agree that it’s a much better use of his time to tell people how to go from 10g to 1000g, as there are probably 1000 times as many people interested in that knowledge.

There is no axe to grind. I just have an issue with with someone who isn’t sharing anything new and will probably get the credit (and the Twitch followers) for stuff others posted a year ago because he’s the 400k guy.
If this is all new to you then great. But I think I am entitled to tell beginners that it isn’t going to get you very far.
As I just said, if you are all into “teaching a man to fish”, then teaching them to Google would have been the better thing to do.
If I didn’t point this out someone else would have, which Wanze kind of did.
Also just because you have 10k doesn’t mean you can scale it up to whatever number you like. If the market is limiiting you to 2k per month, you’ll never reach 100k. You can’t sit on the TP 20 hours a day and run into “Error Attempting To Sell” if you just try to scale things up.
Just wanted to bump this. Vedordra’s twitch is awesome, and he’s a really helpful guy in game as well. Telling this to all my guildees + friends, even though I want to keep it to myself
Looking forward to your next stream sir! I may not be able to make it live, but I will be watching it when I can.
I’m just wondering how long your streams last? I haven’t even tried to see them because I am on the west coast and get off work at 8pm eastern time, but I am interested.
Also, you said ‘3+ times a week’ – do any of those include weekends?

I’ve actually got times posted on the stream itself. Two of the streams are on the weekend the other is on tuesday. I will be altering the times of the stream when I move back stateside but until then the times posted are the times I’ll stream.
