I was checking out the prices of Tempest skins, and to my surprise they weren’t more expensive then previously introduced gemstore skins.
I thought that with keyfarming nerf the prices of newly released skins would at least double in initial value, but apparently I was wrong.

Are people burning through the tickets they got from collections and monetizing on them? Are they farming keys using birthday tomes (or tomes of knowledge for PvP players)?
Or am I just missing something obvious?

There is apparently a large (maybe VERY large) group of people who are happy to gamble with keys by buying gems. This group of people would not be affected by a nerf to the keyfarm.

Besides, reduced supply is only part of the trading equation. If an item is not popular, even with low supply, sell prices will be low simply because nobody’s interested in buying. In MMOs, “dark” weapons are always more popular than “good” weapons, and these Tempest weapons definitely fall into the latter category.

ANet also said they increased the ticket/scrap drop rates. The amount they increased it by is unknown but from the few key runs I’ve done, it’s noticeably higher. If it’s higher for everyone else, that would increase supply and keep prices down.

Key farming now only takes about 1.6 gold per run, I don’t think it was bad enough to effect in such a way.

Yeah .. did 2 runs .. got 1 ticket and 1 scrap .. while in the last 20 chests i opened i got
a total of 6 scrap.

A member of my guild also last week startet a new char .. at one day he got 2 key and
directly 2 tickets .. that lucky b*******

yea the rng is so bullkitten… i never get anything worthwhile while others get a windfall.

whatever, i am just going to weep in a corner and wipe my tears with the few hundred gold i saved up, at least i got that going which is nice

That’s because they are 1 ticket each. The other, going for 5-7 are much, much more expensive.

The others, when they were first released, were also 1 ticket each. OP’s post is talking about the speculation that the nerf to key farming would drive up the original 1 ticket prices.

Tempest are the new weapon skins that just came out. They haven’t been around for weeks, you’re thinking Chaos.

tempest ? they are ugly, hence the price.

Supply and demand.
They look terrible, so no body wants them, so the price isn’t that high.

I mean… qualitatively, they are of the usual high standard. Artistically they are clearly quite… inspired.
But as a weapon? forget it, those things look more like fancy coat hangers and table ornaments then they do weapons. Who ever made them clearly forgot that they were supposed to be designing something for fighting with, not something to put in an art gallery.

Incredibly disappointing as someone who’s a big fan of wind-themed stuff.
