That Moment When You List a Legendary
Nice read Good luck!
Gratz on completing your journey. I cringe every time I see a legendary listed thinking about the amount of listing fees
Some rich guy will probably see it, “Eh, Frostfang, why not?!”, and toss it into his legendary stockpile.
Congrats on a journey well done! Time to start a new one.
I have 2 Frostfang in my bank, I will undercut you by 1c :P <3
I hope one day to be wealthy enough to buy one! For me the journey to craft one would include too many things I dislike (WvW for example). So I don’t take it. I take the other side of it – I’ll grow my gold in the bank one by one very slowly until I’ll be able to buy one! It might take me longer to get the money than it took you to make the thing. However I’m going to enjoy the gameplay the same way you enjoyed the journey to make a legendary. I somehow imagine that that’s how most wealthy in game people see it. They worked hard for that money. They had fun getting it. They spend it on something they really wanted.
I was just kidding, i’m not that evil. I will at least give you 24hrs of grace period to sell urs.
I’ve always wondered what kind of people would put their Legendary for sale on the trade post…xD It just seems silly to me, to put so much effort into getting one, and then selling it for gold. What do you plan on doing with that much gold anyway?

I would have taken the 1200g buy listing, if i crafted one just to sell it. I mean what would i need more than 1200g for anyway? Another legendary?

well one thing to do would be to buy all the tiered gear for all races and get a really rare title :P
there’s a lot of things you can do with lots of gold. Buy a lot more character slots is another good example.
Thanks for the kind words everyone! I hope it sells too, though I’m definitely in no rush.

The materials themselves, not accounting for the account bound materials, cost well more than 1200g. Not to mention as the seller you’d be losing the listing fee and the 10% tax, so you’d be losing a ton selling it to that buyer.

I, personally, am going to finish my Volcanus! I also definitely want cultural armor for my lovely characters. Either way, I wanted to complete the journey of making a legendary item; I just don’t get any personal feeling of pride from showing it off, so it wasn’t worth it for me to keep it. I want someone else to have that feeling if they really want it.
I’m having the same issue selling off my now 3rd vision of the mist. The highest buy order would give me a total loss of 40g, so it’s going to sit there till i can make at least 4g off the sale.
I hope it sells for you, however it doesn’t look like a fast mover, so it might be awhile.

2000 gold is 700usd. Do folks really spend 700 on items in gw2? I have seen the same LGM listings sit there for the last 3 months.
Hey Dusk! Loved your post, thanks for sharing your experiences!
I hope you sell it and sell it well, I’m glad you enjoyed your time and please tell us when it sells!
Well first off, congratulations!

Could you imagine anything differently – so that you might have wanted to keep it?
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Please inform us if it ever sells. Also, do you mind telling us what the exact price you listed for is? It’ll be interesting to get a feel for at what speed the Legendary market moves at.
Best of luck!
I’m going to say he listed it for 2175, of which as of today he got undercut bout 176k. Looking over the data on spidy, top offers don’t move much volume, maybe 1 or 2 a month. Might be awhile. Buy offers however could be much more.

Thanks for the warm wishes! Probably if it were a sweet fire axe (Titans’ Vengeance is garbage) instead of an ice axe so I could use it on my Warrior. That or if the Necromancer axe skills were any better so that I felt it was benefiting my team to use it.

From what I hear it’s super slow. I listed it at 2175g because, well, for anything under 2000 I feel players are severely undervaluing the account bound effort that goes into a legendary item (after factoring in listing price and the taxes). For exactly 2000g you walk away with less than 300g for every account bound part of the item assuming you buy-valued everything else on the market and got your Clovers in exactly 77 tries (statistically incredibly unlikely to happen). I think the only people who would list a legendary that low are people who are intentionally trying to lose out just to make some return on what they consider a mistaken crafting. (Or people who are wealthy enough to be flipping legendaries and thus never made the things themselves)
And yeah, it appears that I’ve already been undercut quite substantially, haha. I expect that low-sell price will sell much quicker, however, and is probably someone who flipped a Frostfang for major profit.
Good luck selling your Frostfang, personally I wouldn’t make a legendary just to sell it (the Frostfang I made is happily sitting on my ranger) but to each their own.
A few guild mates have sold a few legendary weapons, but I know they waited till there was a substantial buy order, rather than listing it.
