The Chaos weapons
all I want to point out is that , chaos weapons are an step in the right direction, personally I want to see more stuff from GW1 brought into GW2, and the chaos weapons set make me feel hopeful.
that being said, I think this is one of those rare occasions where “less” is “more”. most of the chaos weapons look like a bottle of cold water reflecting light, and that effect seems rather out of place. the original chaos weapon (it was just the axe) literally looked like a freaking lightsaber…but axe version…lightaxe …lighthatchet.
anywho , the GW1’s version looked rather slick yet subtle , but it looked great when in action, like no other weapon in the game, that was part of it appeal. the GW2’s iteration just looks like yet another very overdone shinny thing.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chaos_Axe_SkinI have to admit it is a worrisome trend, that some weapons are not translating quite well when being ported from GW1, like the mammoth axe doesnt look as cool as it used to for some reason.
I just hope dev can use this information when bringing back more stuff from GW1 into GW2, and Im pretty sure Im not the only who would like to see more items making a come back.
They look like a lightsaber when held in game.
I didn’t like them at first, but when seen in game the glassy effect comes off really well, and gives it some substance. See below. They appear cold and glassy underground, but in the light-
Zarin Mistcloak(THF) Valkyrie Mistblade(WAR) Kossori Mistwalker(REV) Durendal Mistward(GRD)
I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
I’ve seen them in game and even on the low graphics settings I use, they look very nice imo.
One thing about the chaos axe, maybe they were loved so much because there were fewer weapons with particle effects in the game. I don’t recall seeing very many at all and this might have made a big enough contrast that that axe stood out more than in this game.
Whoa, mods been busy.
First game it was an ethereal energy construct. This game it’s a physical object that emits a million lumens yet casts no shadow.
RIP City of Heroes
It casts a shadow, even though it’s a light.
No, other objects cast shadows from the chaos’s weapon’s glow.

Light sources work oddly in GW2:
- Molten weapons have distinct, fiery effects, but do not provide any illumination.
- Torches are good sources of light, but produce the same amount of lumens-equivalents regardless of which one is used.
- Mad Memoires (complete) illuminates a larger area than any other item in the game (and creates a brighter effect), but only for the wielder; no one else can see the illumination.
In other words, don’t expect Tyrian physics to match too closely with our own.

Just wanted to add, the PvP Balthazar backpiece also emits light like a torch. Also, iirc, the greatsword Cobalt.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.

Yes, Lilith is correct that are there several others; I only mentioned a few to illustrate Tyrian Physics.
The wiki link above should be a complete list (if it’s not, please add any missing items or put a note on the talk page, so that someone else knows and can do the editing).
