The candy corn - a glimpse of things to come
Propably, yes. But they might adjust the drop rate this time around.

Some of the recipes that use it have also been disabled for the moment, thus fewer uses = price drop.
There’s also the chance that this year a different item may drop or fragments of candy corn. In GW1 holiday component drops did not always stay the same during the first few years.
In which case the price might just shoot back up.

Different item drop every year was common in gw1? Now THAT is interesting. A rather long shot to be fair though.
Lets hope it’s new items. tho I do admit it would be nice if there was a means to still get the skins from last year for people who missed the event or just had no luck. other then paying an arm and a leg.
Zoom out your view, it’s just dropping down from spiking up in the August. Probably somebody made a post along the lines of ‘omg you’ll need this for ascended gear crafting’

If we’ve learned anything from the last year, it’s that: how gw1 was, is no predictor on how they’ll treat gw2.
So Candy Corn jumped over 1s/piece, unexpected for me personally.
People speculating that the drop rate will be way less than what it was the first time around? They already confirmed you will get personal candy corn nodes for your home instances, doesn’t seem to be the case. People want some of those rewards, bought presumably for candy corn, the day it comes out?
Insider knowledge? I really don’t see a reason for this sort of jump, betting on a much lower drop rate seems too risky to me.
its just panic buy when the news was:
“Candy Cornucopia: Players can trade Candy Corn for new Halloween items like a Mini Bloody Prince, a 20-slot Halloween Pail and special crafting items needed for Halloween weapons.”
ppl think always they can make alot money with patches and when they see the price is rising they buy like lemmings^^ – now alot sit on this candycorn on 1+ silver
oh and ignoring when event start people will be spammed with candycorn again + this info:
“Sweet Rewards: Players completing the Blood and Madness meta achievement will receive a Mini Candy Corn Elemental, while following the storyline can earn players a Candy Corn node for their home instance.”
when patch news came out i buyd 50k candycorn on 49c and sold it 15 min later for 65c – thats how you make profit with patchnews^^
I dumped what I had at a little over 1s. People buying this to actually use are dumb. This stuff was ridiculously easy to get the first time round.

I am thinking that the candy corn nodes will not be here this year. It may be easy to get still but not like last year. I am thinking they kind of what to use up what is already here since there is so much available already. That is my thought anyways.
they could just raise the vendor price to 10 copper and it would be fine^^
I recall the developers stating that the holiday event content will be “repeated”. This was something that was slowing down their development of other content. If memory serves me correctly, it was mentioned right before (or at the same time as) the announcement regarding 2-week LS development.
This thread is a little funny because there was an “opposite” one just the other day about how speculators are driving up the cost of candy corn!!!
Who knows, but do you really thing they’ll be giving out 20 slot bags for free basically, if you consider candy corns were 1-2c each during last holiday event? I think there won’t be so much excess of candy corn as there was last year.
Free 20 slot bags? Sign me up for about 100.
Hopefully not soulbound.

maby they cost 5g + candycorn? maby they cost some tokens + candycorn?
they dont said for free ^^
Well considering a 20 slot bag is over 12 gold on the ah I would hope it is cheaper than what they are listed at and if it is considerably cheaper then I think there will be a good demand for candy corn. The 20 slot bag is something I am interested in for sure.
I’m certainly looking forward most to the 20 slot bags.

I’m sure they will be unique equipped, don’t get your hopes up.
Bags huh. Well maybe, although I fully expect Anet to go in line with the Holo Wings and Jorbreakers. 100k candy corn for a bag or random drop.
Ye gods I will be quite miffed if it turns out Candy Corn is actually very valuable. -tinfoil hat on- And some people just knew in advance. -hat off-
I could deal with a unique bag. Currently its pretty much a loss to craft one if you aren’t going to use it. Prices are terrible.

When the item codes for ascended armor became public, i played around a bit with the codes, switched out some letters here and there.
I found an exotic item called Cob of Candy Corn, which I think will be an crafting ingredient for all the new recipes that will come out.
I guess the Cob will be either another drop or be crafted itself, using 250 Candy Corn and some other stuff.
However, i dont think that regular Candy Corn will be the limiting factor of crafting the new recipes. It will be either a new drop (the Cob of CC) or other pricy ingredients like Lodestones, as seen in the recipes for the new Runes and Sigils that were introduced during the Queens Jubilee.
Thats why i didnt invest into Candy Corn because I think they will drop in abundance again and be available 1c over vendor price during Halloween.
Some people made good profits flipping them short term after the Halloween Patch Announcement but in general, i dont really like making money on short term flipping, so i sat that one out.

I’m often jealous of you old timers and all your experience/insight. Considering I only started playing the market 3 weeks ago I’ve yet to build up the coin to invest in long term. I’m limited to short term flipping for a little while longer unless I can stumble into something amazing.

Don’t be. I wasn’t ready last year because I am taking my time with everything. Opportunities come on a regular basis if you look out for them.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Its not your bankroll that matters but your experience. Of course, it helps to have a certain amount of gold to spare and invest but its not neccessary.
Even though i propably have several thousands of gold locked into items in my storage, i only keep around 100-200G on hand to put into buy orders.
Usually 100g are enough for me to make 50g profit per day, investing 1-2 hours on the trading post, depending on the market. That is usually due to my long experience, though. With the knowledge of the market i gained over the last couple of months, i am pretty sure that i turn 5g into 200g over the weekend, if I would spend all my time on the TP.
Many players lack some understanding though and basic math skills to do this.
And without those players, I wouldnt be able to make such profits so i am alright with that.
Whenever people are rolling their eyes about players doing 50g/h on the TP, they usually disregard the time invested into getting to know certain profitable markets and the research it takes.
For me, the Trading Post is the most balanced form of PvP in game right now and I spend i good chunk of my playing time on it because its fun for me, discovering a profitable market before anybody else, getting good rewards (gold).
GW2 has the best game economy I have ever seen in an mmo and it can also teach you some basics of real life economy.

Maybe for people who have time to play the market like you, it is.
But for people who only have like 1-2 hours per day, they’d rather spend their time playing the game: doing dungeons, guild missions, etc… And for them, prices on the market keep rising but their income doesn’t rise as fast.
Now, everybody plays the way they want to. But IMO this is what’s wrong with this game. People who play the market can just straight up buy legendaries and other rarities while the regular players strugle. If I were one of the big brains behind GW2 I would be asking myself some questions right now…

Those people that spend their time playing the game and not the market still have a big impact on the market because they usually provide the supply.
I cant buy a legendary on the tp if no one is willing to sell it. Regular players are given the choice of playing the market if they want to, so you cant really blame Anet if they chose not to.

So candy corn returned and for the third day of the events is holding at 60+ cc and seems to be a lot more limited drop wise than last year. Fascinating foresight by whomever bought out the lat year’s supply before the events once again.
Leveling up an alt in the labyrinth, where you can get hundreds of corn so easily, i know that the current price will not hold. I will personally help to tank it selling every piece of corn I get to the highest buy order price. The recipes were designed for low priced candy corn. I am confident that it will fall to 4 copper each. People’s pockets aren’t endless, and the candy corn supply pretty much is – especially considering that this event will still run for such a long time, and given that we haven’t seen all the Halloween instances yet (similar to last year).

It’s not always foresight, sometimes it’s a gamble (as is with all speculation)
There really wasn’t a whole lot out there for us to believe that candy corn would not be this hard to acquire the 2nd time around.

I’d say personal candy corn nodes would be an indicator of it being easier to get hold of. Then again as Buttercup said prices should be tanking steadily, I’m jut surprised it’s taking such a long while, is there really a high demand at current prices? People rushing to get their prince Thorne mini perhaps?
Maybe someone should buy my 1000 stacks of sprocket if this is the forsight.
People always rush for the items they want for example recipe, so that’s what hold the sprocket price for a while.

They were smart if they bought it at 8 – 9c I guess.
Not so the people who bought at 1s hoping they’d get cheap 20 slot bags… I lol’d.

Yeah, I hope they love their 1000+ gp pails. Personally I put in a buy order at 7cp. That way it’ll cost me roughly the same as buying a 20-slot bag on the TP anyway. I’m selling all my corn at the current prices. If this strategy bites me in the kitten , I can still use my profits to craft/buy 20 slots bags, even if they won’t have the “ping value” in LA.

If Sonders continues to sell the Halloween (and Dragon Bash) stuff all year, then prices will certainly continue to fall. With the personal Candy Corn node, we now have a guaranteed source of the stuff year round. It’s the other Halloween crafting mats that will cause the bottleneck, but given that it’s now obvious that the Gibbering Skulls etc. can be dropped directly from mobs, I’m not sure how much prices for those will rise, as the people who want the final skins are probably realising it’s cheaper to just buy the skins off the TP than go for the mats.
Another way to get the rare mats is to trick-or-treat the kids and quaggans in LA for personalized trick or treat bags. You get about 70% of your original corn back, plus the rare items (and/or candy corn related food) depending on the RNG.
