As a consumer who consumed over $800 worth of gems, I have to say the prices of goods on the BLTP is highway robbery. $10 for a outfit really? $3 to revive once, really?Why not add more stuff to the BLTC at a cheaper cost so that $10 can get both an outfit and something else? That would give more incentive for people to get gems because they can do more with it.

I converted about 69 gold when the exchange was about

18ish silver / 100gems and then here and there once in a while. Exceeding over $800 gems total.

I don’t really think it really matters where the gems comes from as it has a value attached to it.

You payed 18ish silver, for 100 gems when now we new people have to pay 18ish gold…

The very fact that you’ve spent $800 on gems gives you the answer you are looking for. Why would they lower the prices if people are spending almost $1000 on gems to buy the items?

Exactly. And the market research team at Anet has clearly concluded that the amount of money they make from selling things for $10 is more then the amount of money they would make from selling it for $3. If they thought otherwise they would have already changed it.

People spend stupid amounts of money on virtual items. They simply don’t care about the cost most of the time.

Just want to toss out $10 to me is not that big of a deal, so spending that once a week on new gem store items is worth it. Look at what some people spend on coffee each morning before work, $3 a cup for five days. $15 at the end of the week compared to my $10 for not drinking coffee. And I get the health benefit of not having all that extra caffeine in me.

this point is somewhat moot, as I agree that ANet does the research and just picks whatever is most profitable for them.

I am one of the people who has the money and will spend it to get these things if I want them, even at their current prices. The thing is, the price of the item doesn’t affect how much I spend, as I choose a certain amount of money which I have available and feel ok with spending on the game and I use it, then I buy whatever i can afford with the gems.

The issue for me is a satisfaction issue. It’s not that I don’t have the money, it’s that I feel like I sure do get very little for the money I spend. For people in my group, who spend a fixed amount of money at certain intervals, it would increase our satisfaction to have lower prices, as I would never feel grumpy or guilty for having spent money on the game, like I do sometimes now.

I see this doesn’t affect ANet’s profit lines, and maybe people in my group or a huge minority. I don’t know, but I gotta say I keep forking out the money because I can, but in other games I’ve played I sure used to feel a lot better about it.

TL;DR: purchasing gemstore items with dollars yields low satisfaction, even when the income is disposable.

Probably to make you felt better when you open a black lion chest and get a 3$ revive orb, instead of something that is worth a few silver.
