Tier transition period: rich orichalcum node?
“Craft Ascended Weapons: New recipes and materials will be hidden around the world, and a new skill cap of 500 will be introduced for the Weaponsmith, Artificer and Huntsman crafting disciplines. Players crafting their way to 500 will become Grandmaster Crafters and can learn the secrets of crafting Ascended weapons.”
With the current orichalcum price high and ready to explode, I really hope Arenanet thought of implementing a rich orichalcum node – temporarily – to ease through the first months of adding a new weapon tier. With scores of people that will want to craft ascended weapons, and even more levelling up these 3 professions, a temporary rich node would make a lot of sense to me.
I don’t see it being a problem. Crafting at 500 will be limited by the time gated materials required to make anything. Ori will be the least of your worries. I suspect it will go something like this:
get some time gated material from JP’s, daily, World Boss, etc…
spent 5 days collecting them
forge into 1 item that is limited to 1 a day
4 months later craft your first piece of ascended gear.
Look at the ori prices now. Combine that with hordes of people being locked up in a new instance that will not give ori or anything that can be broken down into ori; just…. baubles. These prices are here to stay, I can assure you, if nothing is done about it.
You all realize rich orichalcum veins already exist, right?
Sheeeeiiiii…. …Do you ever see rich Rosemary or Lemongrass nodes? Do you ever see rich Chocolate nodes or Rich Dill?? They don’t a give a kitten about such hard “Slapping you in a face” disparities in Supply. They’ve been going on since Release and they’ve never done anything to even tweak ’em. Nah they just been making it harder to get that stuff.
Atleast with Ori…. you can just Forge a ton of still super cheap Mithril.
…Oh “but that requires C Dust!” you say… yeah and you can manufacture that too now.
Can I manufacture Chili peppers and Rosemary tho?? ….hell nah. but Ori?? Pfffftt….

Vein*s* (plural) even! No, I did not. Where is this? I’m a lazy miner myself, so I didn’t know they added rich veins subsequent to the removal of the southsun rich node.
@Ilr: You don’t need chocolate for crafting weapons, armor, jewelry, sharpening stones, sigils and runes. You need it for about 3 optional food buffs. Try running around naked though, let’s see how far that takes you.

where ?
i farm ori nodes every day on all my 7 character and don’t know about this…….. there was one on the karka island but that has been removed by ANET loooonggg time ago….
Archeage = Farmville with PK
I think there’s one each in the Orr maps, as well as in Frostgorge Sound. However, the location changes every day, so unless you scour the entire map every day you could easily miss it.
all i know :
5 nodes on Cursed Shore, 5 nodes on Malchor’s Leap, 3 nodes on Southsun Cove, 2 nodes on Frostgorge …. all of them are regular nodes. never seen any rich node these days……

There are no rich ori nodes in Orr. Never have been.
The only place I’ve seen one outside of Karka Queen, is in Eternal Battle Grounds jumping puzzle.
Ah. I’ve never visited Orr myself yet, so I was just going off what I heard from guildies a long time ago. There is a Rich Orichalcum Vein in the Obsidian Sanctum, but the last few times I was there, it only allowed 3 harvests before being exhausted.

Same thing with all the rich nodes in EB, they only give 3 taps, but they do seem to have a higher chance at Orbs etc.

The rich ori nodes give only 3 taps (chance for more with WvW bonus), but each tap has a potential to drop 1-3 ores.
Oh and it’s not profitable to transmute mithril to orichalcum unless you think you are super lucky.
Orichalcum stabilized at about 5 to 5.5 silver per ore. Previously, Anet was not happy with such prices, as it raises the price of nearly every craftable end game item in the game.
I’m really crossing my fingers here. It won’t hurt me (rather, the other way around), but it will sure hurt players that recently joined the game following the trial period. It’s one of those items that can widen the gap between the have’s and the have’s not.

traditionally? …when it was 3s per Ore, and mithril was 40c + …. No of course not.
Now however?? …and don’t even talk about Ectos plz, not after we had a glut of Claws & Fangs selling as low as ~60c. Make lots of BOTH! Ya can’t go wrong right now unless you’re one of those ppl who’s so lazy they won’t even craft bulk rares
It’s not profitable to transmute. It wasn’t then, and It isn’t now. On average you get 17 ore/ingots in return for every 250 mithril ore/ingot. You’re better of selling your mithril ore/ingots instead, even if you disregard the dust cost and skill point cost. Because you make a loss if you include the cost of 5 pieces of crystalline dust.
I miss the rich Ori node in Southshore. I used to actually be able to craft jewelry and a few weapons without spending a fortune or time.
The MF Update will also bring a lot of Ori into the game.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
It’s not that hard to go out and gather it you know. Without going into WvW, you can get at least 45 ore per character. There are nifty websites out there that allow people to work together and update maps of where the current nodes are as well.
There’s no need for a rich node. Prices are probably going up due to people potentially stocking up for the new crafting and being busy with the invasions instead of doing some farming in Orr.

I thought people troll those websites, so most of the time they are all wrong.

The one I use is right pretty much all of the time. Only time it’s not is immediately after a patch.
This is kinda one of those things where it benefits people to work together.. help each other find the nodes and remember where they all are. If you troll and remove everything, then you’re gonna have a hard time knowing where all the nodes are at. :P

PM me the site. I want a reliable site for this.

So I can get around 18g / day … hmm still too little to be worth the effort.
