Time to sell tier 6 fine mats?
Au contraire mon ami. Lets ponder the reason for introducing the token wallet.
Well, besides being generous to their player base Anet stands to benefit a great deal from this because by freeing up storage space they are counting on increased sales in the game shop. More space equates to more room to store shinnies.
Then there is the introduction of higher crafting levels; ascended/ legendary armor and precursors in the course of this year. These things will require vast amounts of materials and in order to store these materials we of course require bocu more storage pace.
Then there is the supply and demand aspect to consider. With guaranteed means of getting precursors more people will want to craft legendary weapons. Hence demand is sure to rise. This is a given. What we don’t know is whether supply will be able to keep up with demand. So far this has never been the case and I doubt it will ever change.
So contrary to your prediction I think now is the time to start hoarding as much of everything as possible. Be it tokens, karma, skill points and every type of crafting material regardless of tier because we also know that producing at least some t7 materials will require a combination of the current available materials.
Just my 2 cents. Perhaps in the future I’ll return to this thread and post “you were warned”

Yes this is what I’m exactly doing.
Anything that I’m not “flipping” and I get through normal gameplay like Orr Events or WvW Lootbags get’s sent directly to my bank. Those are “OFF LIMITS” to myself, until I see the t7 Materials release.
I think someone “confirmed” it saying that prior materials will be necessary to upgrade to t7 and 400+ Crafting.
I’m usually typing on my phone
“Story dungeons will award 50 silver for completion, and explorable dungeons will award between 1 and 3 gold depending on length and difficulty. "
More gold in the economy will increase prices while more materials will take it down. The system will be balanced? I roughly can say that T6 prices will remain the same.
Its just an idea, hope i can help.
I sold about half of my T5 and T6 mats (especially since I bought 100 bloods relatively cheap). I have a feeling there will be enough lag between when the supply will spike and when the demand will catch up. I’m hoping that lag is enough for me to capitalize on selling those mats, if not oh well, I kept half.
…..With the inevitable flood of tier 6 …..
hahahaha
Oh wow.
Good try though…..
If you actually look at Colin’s interview on KTR instead for instance, you’ll see what this is really all about… It’s about that whole “making MF account based” and fed on the salvaging of Masterworks & Rares which makes a nice little looping treadmill of “kill Champions to farm more champions with more MF to keep killing more Champions for the same high MF%” …and if they were really clever, it also will cost Ectos to make these MF Consumables. If you look at the price spike of Ectos back around the 20th infact from possible test krewe & insider/press trading, that might possibly be a clue to one of the ingredients even….
Oh and and course it was also about COF and dungeons in general where we all tend to skip most of the unnecessary champ fights. And despite what others would have us all believe here, With the loss of the COF farm, there will actually be less gold in the system (but it will now be slightly more evenly distributed until the flippers re-adjust)

I don’t think I was “trying” anything. Was just thinking that if all champions will be dropping tier 6 mats, and if people start farming DE’s like back when this game started, then there would be a “flood” of tier 6 mats like when GW2 first came out.

Is the new crafting being released at the same time? Remember that that’ll case an increase in demand as well. If not, then I guess it’s a good time to start speculating :p

You’re going to need a source to quote then first… They make no real promises when it comes to rewards. We had to find that out the hard way when it came to the first “patch” for Dungeon chests & the Bosses guarding them (nothing of value was added). There’s nothing currently implying that we’ll get more “Fine” mats, only “Rare” Mats from them… again… new stuff for account based crafting

how is that more gold as its only the first time you do the path it does that and not each time you do the path that day;)
Ayano Yagami lvl 80 ele
Another thing to consider; all WvW champions will drop mats as well... I really think we may see an influx of tier 6 mats BECAUSE Anet will raise the crafting cap to 500. The game may NEED more tier 6 mats.
Yeah, it could go either way right now. The 500 crafting cap is not coming in this patch, but it is planned for down the line in the future. As such, I do expect supply to exceed demand in the short term, but to increase once the crafting increase comes into effect.
As someone who mainly farms what he needs, I’m largely unaffected by this either way. I just like watching market trends and keeping my finger on the pulse of what’s happening.
