It was originally 20 after someone bought the supply and listed it at that price. I laughed when I saw it cause it was a bad investment.

This forum seems to be plagued with people making this types of the threads that basically point a stupid decision made by someone.

While it is indeed amusing to some extant, I find them devoid of anything constructive and in fact annoys me to some extent (mostly due to the fact that the joke has been played before).

I think we get it, people make stupid decisions all the time.

(And no, Im not the guy listing the 39 Genesis.)

I barely post in this forum, so I wouldn’t know. But anyone who has the money to even buy that many Genesis would presumably have the brains to know better.

Think you mean how low will they go. All of these weapons are permanently part of world champ chests. Just like final rest, they will continue to fall until they stabilize at a “normal” range. We haven’t reached that point yet because everyone stopped farming bosses to farm the invasions instead and it doesn’t look like the weapons are dropping as much (if at all) from the invasion champs. They may increase slight prior to next weeks update, but probably not enough to cover the tax.

I was one who purchased Genesis about a week ago for a buy order of 180g. I reasoned that I think it would go back up since everyone was busy doing invasions. Boy was I wrong.

Either there are servers out there that continue to farm Orr, demand is stagnating, or suppliers are dumping their stock on mass. I think it’s the latter two.

I gave in and sold it for 90g or so. So that’s a loss of 90G. Not happy about it, but then again you win some and lose some.

bulk sales are a good way to waste a listing fee

You made a pretty basic mistake. New items almost always follow the same price curve.

On release they are almost always priced way higher than the price they will stabilize at, the price slowly or quickly slides down to that price.

There is also a standard curve for items that no longer are supplied (event items etc).

Few days ago I was flipping Entropy for a small profit. Nothing ground breaking but it was fun getting them for relatively cheap and reselling.

It also points out to some players that these items have just spiked in price and they should wait it out. This is also the sort of econ sub section of the forums… it helps teach people that there are certain risks associated with market manipulation and that you shouldn’t try to manipulate certain things (it just won’t work) Vs. the normal complaints we see about it 24/7.

Maybe he’s just having an off day. I know there are days when I log on and I just make rookie errors like forgetting to dodge at the right time for no apparent reason. XD

We’re talking about Vol here… a 90g goof probably set him back what? Maybe 4 hours?

While I’m surprised he’d bet on something with finite market and infinite supply over time, I’m sure the precursor boom offset it many times over.

Pretty poor assumptions, basically lol

Assuming that the demand for Genesis would remain high and that the supply growth rate of Genesis would slow down (not to be confused with supply itself)

As mentioned, either I grossly underestimated the number of people still farming coffers, or sellers have started to dump all their stock, or people have fallen out of favor in terms of pursuing Genesis.

At this point, it’ll be interesting to see what happens next. Dropping 39 hammers back on the current sell price will tank them. It’s also obvious this individual had a lot to do with how slow the price dropped by buying up supply.

Maybe they’re waiting to see what happens on patch, or maybe they quit the game. Either way, this hammer is on its way down, and soon.

similar happened to the axe Truth. It spiked to 30.5g from 1.5g for a few minutes. Didnt last long enough to be caught by gw2spidy.
