Tome of Knowledge Purchasing
The tome of knowledge doesnt give you your traits, just levels.

I know this… And without lvl’s you can’t have Traits. Which reason for the asking of ways to purchase this. Make it easier to gain the lvl’s yes through our pockets. And then gaining the traits be easier. But this is just abotu them adding a purchase way of gaining the Tome of Knowledge

Thats what crafting is for, to level your alts in a fast (and expensive way). If you give players a different way to buy levels, several markets for lower and mid tier mats will collapse because the demand will plummet. That means that new players that level their first toon will get squat for the loot they get and the mats they mine, resulting in a higher wealth disparity.

And some of us hate to re-lvl crafting professions so if it’s not for you, you don’t have to purchase them. and actually with supply and demand the prices wont be changing that much, because they didn’t during the whole Crown Pavilion. Thats like saying pull the Keys off the BLTC due to you can just re-roll a character over and over. You have “options” on getting them. Hence my OP.

Those markets will be fine. The valuable lower and mid tier mats are only those used in Ascended crafting, not craft levelling. I’d go so far as to say that nerfing craft XP has actually made levelling through craft far less viable an option for most players.
I’d suggest that Tomes be added to the loot tables alongside Scrolls, with a lower drop rate. Might not hurt to add a vendor where we can trade Skill points for Tomes, at maybe a 5:1 ratio.

Yeah, instead of buying the Tombs of Knowledge, just convert gems into gold and level your characters. Practically the same thing except more time consuming. You can always use the fast guides. (gw2crafts.net)
You can probably get a toon to 80 for like 20-30$ and 3-4 hours, less if you’re quick and have 2 screens.

Can probably fit it within 30 minutes (duration of a booster) if you plan and purchase all the materials beforehand. Although you might want a big bank or inventory…
Okay i understand what you guys are saying. But i don’t want to spend the time to sit there and craft my way through this, and redo all the crafting professions i have already done and gotten there already. Reason i’m asking for Anet to put out a way to purchase/trade for the Tomes of Knowledge. When i got like 4 or 5 more classes to finish getting lvl’ed im not going to go through and redo all the crafting on every character i have. to me thats completely pointless, but thats MY opinion.
Reason perfer the easier route for this. I know im not the only one out there that agrees with me on this. Just there not saying anything besides to there friends or what not.
So you don’t want to spend money to level up, but you want to spend money to level up.

I think being able to buy tome of knowledge directly is a good idea.
But I just don’t understand why people won’t take a few hours to just craft it up instead of complaining. Obviously you won’t get to lvl80 directly with purely crafting. But leveling to 400 on 8 crafting discipline won’t take too long, and is enough to get you 56 level. If you have a birthday booster, you can add in 20 more level.
Most players have a few hundreds playing hours, or even thousands of playing hours, I’m not sure why spending a little time crafting up is such a big deal. I probalby have like 20+ lvl80 toons, and did use crafting to fast track and quick leveling. I dont’ know what’s the big deal on spending a tiny amount of time crafting.

I didn’t say that. I said i didn’t want to spend THE TIME to lvl crafting on every single character. The money spending is going to be spent 1 way or another. But to me it’s useless to lvl all the professions on every character and a waste of my time. There is a difference in what your assuming and what im saying.

To me it’s a waste of time, and esp since i only have hr or maybe 2 to play a day anymore due to real life stuff outside the game, with family and work. I don’t want to spend the whole time trying to craft. I’m not complaining about doing it. I’m just saying for a easier ways of doing it since there in the game anyways make it so you can purchase them.
Birthday boosters won’t improve the amount of levels you get from crafting. It gives you a chance of getting bonuse experience when crafting, which translates into “more experience for less crafting” but still equates to the same amount of overall experience, just with less mats.
Tl;dr: Birthday boosters don’t give you 20 more levels.

ya I mean the lvl 20 scrolls that come with your birthday box.
You guys should really stop.
First of all, levelling won’t get him to eighty anyway because they’ve reduced it to make do with 500 crafting. Second, can’t you guys read? He’s said he doesn’t want to craft. It’s not the money, it’s the crafting. And a lot of people in this game have complained about crafting in relation to ascended and other things.
Just respect his feelings or opinion? You can say you disagree, but don’t keep pushing at the guy. If he wanted to craft, he didn’t need to make this thread.

And you’re still missing what i am saying. Time, Waste of Time to do it, useless to me to do it on every single character. And as Seven said, if i wanted to craft it i wouldn’t of made the post. The post is about making a way to Purchase the Tomes. not complain because i don’t have a way to lvl. Just asking for a way to purchase them to make lvl’ing faster and easier
But to an MMO company, they want you to take time. Even in a game without a subscription, your continued presence in the game leveling is a feature they can sell by showing an active world. Plus the longer you play, the greater the chance you will plunk down hard cash for an item in the gem shop or a load of gold.
In the original GW you could buy the ability to go directly to max level, most likely for PvP. Here both PvP and WvW you are auto promoted to max level so no need for such a feature.
RIP City of Heroes

I don’t think that’s accurate.
In PvP, you were automatically level 20 and gained ranks, just like in here.
In EotN, you were automatically level 20 and gained levels if you were under level 20, just like in WvW.
There were ways of leveling fast, such as playing Nightfall and getting ferried to Lion’s Arch (assuming you had Prophecies) and then having someone help you with the quest to unlock Olias (or you can solo it, it’s not TOO bad). Then plop back into Nightfall and you have a level 20 Necromancer (see: MM Necro). Kill one thing or find a body → Everything dies.
Sorry, I thought that was a feature of the PVP Access Kit.

If I don’t like something, there are two things I do; complain about it, or suggest better.
He’s done the latter. It’s not a hard concept to grasp. If you don’t agree with it that’s fine. No one is holding you to gunpoint to follow his agreement. You’re not going to get permabanned for not buying it. And if you did then this game has bigger issues than that.
If you don’t agree, you only need to tell us once. Or him. Or anyone else. And even still your point is moot. You haven’t countered anything I said, and really, max level doesn’t have any value in this game. It’s not like WoW where you skip actual content, or have power creep. You’re gonna be downscaled anyway. You’re not going to automatically get ascended gear on purchase – ANet isn’t that cruel. It’s just EXP. Which isn’t really that bad considering people have been complaining sbout having to go from 1-80 over and over for ages now.

But here the issue isn’t taking time. The issue is levelling is just dull. And to some end that’s actually true. Even more so now due to the way the trait system works.

This is true, but I’m not sure we want to “reward” them with more gem sales for making the game worse.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
But leveling here is extremely quick and the leveling curve flattens once you are out of your early levels which go quickly (and hence key farming is doable with 20-25 minutes).

Why do people play RPGs when they dont like the leveling experience?
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Another fast levelling option would be nice, especially one that’s genuinely fast.
I think this is a good idea.
I’m thinking of buying a sixth character slot to make a thief. The thought of levelling them makes me pause, even though I have a spare level 20 script and a birthday booster and I know my way around crafting and the EotM train. Even if I get to 60 in a couple of evenings with scripts/crafting/EotM, then do personal story and get into Orr to avoid the juvenilecat “teach 10 Quoggans to catch crabs” hearts, I am not thrilled at the idea. Enough with this, I’ve done it five times and now I just want to push a kitten button.
Why do people play RPGs when they dont like the leveling experience?
Because there are other things they do like.
Surely this is obvious?

Thank you for trying to help point out what i was trying to say. My time to do the endless grind for lvl’ing is rough for me to do, for reasons i had stated above. But also as you said it’s not just time for it it’s just Dull.

How is this be a Reward? Because unless you got a fat credit card which i sure the heck don’t you have to pay with your ingame gold for the gems to buy the items and thats IF they put it as a BLTC Purchase and not some vendor.
Why do people play RPGs when they dont like the leveling experience?
If this was my 1st character, or 2nd, or even my 3rd to 80 then yeah i would say same as you. But i have 6 lvl 80’s already. i have about 4 or 5 more to finish up.
Why do people play RPGs when they dont like the leveling experience?

Again my previous quote… Plus yes i have better things to do with my time of couple hrs a day max to play, Like just go out and go anywhere and do anything i feel the need to without having to worry about lvl’ing self to get there.
But as Seven had stated way above all this. If don’t want it then thats fine, I just know there is quite few people i have spoke to ingame and friends im in contact with outside the game that agree with this option themselves.
Nobody isen’t making anybody purchase them. And before anybody says well it will be an unfair disavantage. Who says Anet going to let them go for dirt cheap? Plus then you can argue the exp from crafting is an unfair disadvantage. and it would be for same reason, This person has to much money and i dont have enough to spend it like John Doe can. Or say the birthday lvl 20 scroll is due to giving 20 lvl’s. And Jane Doe hasent been playign a year so she thinks it’s unfair for John Doe to be able to.
So it’s all mute on trying to find a way to say it’s a “reward” or a “unfair disadvantage” This would be just for the cash grabbers wanting a easier way to lvl since ones that have thought about this have already handful or ALOT more lvl 80’s and want a easier non grinding through zones, wvw, eotm, storylines, and crafting. If Anet never wanted the item to be even used period they would of never even brought it out period.
What does traits have to do with anything in this OP? Is it just a convoluted, contrived way of asking to be able to buy level 80 toons? Why not just be transparent and ask that outright instead of beating around the bush with silly conjecture about ‘everyone’ and ‘traits are hard’ and ‘we all’ when it has nothing to do with what you’re personally asking? I guess if it was ‘Let us buy lvl 80s!’ Then it wouldn’t seem as innocent maybe? Level up and get traits like everyone else has had to. I’ve had 10 geared 80’s since long before tomes were introduced. It’s not that bad. If you’re willing to spend money to level, then leveling normally and buying the traits you need isn’t a problem, rendering the OP pointless anyway. Yay for circular logic!

Okay since im assuming you didn’t go through and read everything besides the OP? So yeah, no, not going to or need to try to repeat myself and explain it all.
I never said wanted to buy a straight up lvl 80. Never said buying traits, or lvl’ing was even hard.
If you disagree ok thats fine and your opinion. It’s not meant for everyone.

I have 11 80’s and everytime I get a new slot I’ll level up a new character to 80 regularly, no tomes, no cheese like EotM, no dungeon leeching, just playing the story/completing the areas.. But maybe I’m just an exception.

And once again… if i had the time to spend hrs on and play i would just lvl up that way. But i don’t. I use to but don’t now. Plus i don’t care for the grind on lvl’ing. Rather grind in whatever location i choose to make my money if i need to, Plus be able to just go wherever and whenever i choose when i want with what time i have. Not be chained down and limited do to a lvl.
But this is each of us with our own opinions. Have a guild member loves lvl’ing so much he has like 28 lvl 80’s. He starts it and in 2 days he’s lvl 80. but thats what HE likes to do.
This whole thing wasen’t really to have any arguments or debates on each others play style. Since we all have our own ways of playing, lvl’ing and what not. We each paid for our own account so we have right to play how we each like. But what i am saying though is im NOT alone on this that would like to have a method and option to purchase them, So askign Anet to least look into the option. Now they will probably ignore this like usual. But was a harmless question/suggestion to mention.

Yeah since a instant lvl 80 got more positive feedback then mine here. mine here got bashed on? like really?
Completely agree with OP.
Easier leveling please. We all have 80 mains, we’ve seen the rides 2 years ago, they are all the same since. Provide other-than-crafting (which is a punishment really) leveling.
.
So since there adding everything else into the BLTC for Purchase of Gems. Why not put in the Tome of Knowledge for purchase as well? a.
The tome is available in BL chests.
It’s fairly common.
Okay. I don’t agree with the OP, but I must say that your varied arguments didn’t help in adding any sympathy to your request. Your original post claims that you don’t like the new Trait system as it makes it difficult to level, then you go on about how selling the tomes would be good for Anet and that’s why they should sell them, then over the course of the thread you complain about not having enough time to level your characters, your apparent disdain at crafting, and then you claim you didn’t say anything about the trait system and leveling with it.
You’re all over the place. Sorry if this sounds rude but: Get your arguments straight.
If you want to get to 80 without playing, what do you even plan to do in game? If you have as few time to play as you claim, then why would you even need more 80’s? If you want to experience the class, go level them, or heck go sPvP with them (and get the tomes in the process).
There is no issue with leveling your new characters. The issue is the cost and skill points required to obtain ALL the Traits. Granted, NOBODY uses all of them so buying them all is going to be a waste. While you ARE leveling the one thing you do have to conserve and watch closely are your SKILL POINTS (and gold for the Master and higher Traits can certainly be an issue for new players).
We need a vendor to sell Scrolls for Skill Points not Tomes for Levels. This would also help in transferring skill points for various activities (material promotion, Ascended crafting….ect.). I have a stack of scrolls in my bank, so i don’t really need this, but it would be good for new players.
To be honest, if they revamped 60% of the current activities to EARN the Traits, everything would be ok, but the real disservice to new players is that they have NO idea what Traits are MUST have they need to buy ASAP and which ones can wait to be EARNED (or not bothered with at all).
