Toxic Spore Skin prices
good to know, i’ll just hold on to mine then :P
‘dwindling’ numbers of players inside the tower
is an understatement. almost nobody does it anymore
because other things are way more rewarding so i guess
supply isn’t refreshed anymore since the droprate
seems to be not very high to begin with.
I still get into overflow nearly every time I enter the tower (though I did actually manage to get into my main server tower for the first time every last night). And even overflow itself is usually fairly populated. So I don’t think its quite to the level of “almost nobody”.
Reminds me of the Aspect back items. Still have my Sun and Wind Aspect backs…. and that price just keeps climbing.

I wish. I bought my Lightning Catcher for a 5g offer during the event, because the price did actually go down (and then got a drop of a Lightning Catcher which, like you, I’m holding on to). This is… not like that. The price is going up and up before the event is even over. Or even close to over, based on the progress bar.
Again it just comes down to those wealthy TP folk who dun play the game.
Most likely because people have stopped doing the content, hence less drops.

Tin Foil [HATS] claim responsibility.
Saw the price sitting at 10G on day one. Figured the price would go down,
We bought at 10 gold and sell for 28 to you now.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Player behaviour seems to have changed. In past Living Story chapters, players could be counted on to reliably zerg the content for the full duration, thus driving prices lower and lower as the chapter went on. However, it seems that now players are only doing the new content for as long as it takes to complete their achievements, and then go back to dungeons/Champ-trains/WvW as these activities are more profitable than the Living Story content. (Another factor is that the Living Story areas are considered too difficult/annoying.)
As such, it seems that the cheapest time to buy now is probably in the early stages of the content, UNLESS the good in question is supplied in mass quantity and has no desired tradable item. Pristine Toxic Spores are a good example. They started at around 1 silver, jumped to about 2.5 silver at their highest peak, and have now settled back to about 1.5 silver due to there being no more new things to buy with them when Nightmares Within came out.
That thing is ugly, so when it dropped for me (along with the air-breather) from my first tri-key chest, I sold it immediately for 15gp (after Evon-tax). I don’t regret it, even if it is now higher priced.
Wanze (or someone in Tin Foil [HATS]) will sell it for 42gp in a week’s time I’m sure.

Hmm. An interesting insight, and something for me to keep in mind for future content (obviously at this point its too little too late for the Toxic Spore, and I broke down and put up a 20g offer last night when the price dropped slightly, which got filled so I can stop fussing with the darn thing). I guess that is one advantage of super-grindy achievements (which the Tower is mostly free of), it keeps people playing longer and in turn drives prices on stuff down.
It probably doesn’t help that the Tower is pretty polarizing for people, too. Some enjoy the solo difficulty or have guilds / friends to run it with so they’re never alone, others find the solo experience of dying repeatedly unpleasant and lack groups to run with aside from impromptu zergs.
