Guild Wars 2

I started some trading during last weekend, after i was really annoyed with the quest/event rewards not covering the character progression at all. (as a level 25 character i was still running around with level 7 gloves, level 11 pants.. while all my money went into repairs and teleporting) .
Well now yesterday i login to see that i cannot access the Tradepost at all, and all my money is bound into trades. Ok i think – thats a stupid time to do a maintenance, but how bad can it be, it will be back in an hour or two… Two hours later it was still not back, so i decided to go sleep.
Now, almost 12 hours later, i login and – its still down for maintenance. Seriously? I wish there was at least an honest message saying “we have trouble x/y with the tradepost and therefor we have taken it temporary down” but “maintenance”? for more than 14 hours? really? we are supposed to buy that?
Well since i was hoping for a bit more information i went to the guildwars site – the only thing about the tradepost recently posted there is “John Smith” writing on the GW2 Economy 6 days ago Linkie
there he states: Before I discuss the issues with the trading post, I want to point out to those who haven’t spent time with the trading post how great it is.
No Sir, it’s not, its a website within an ingame browser, which leaves out basic usability features that we know from other games and internet shops, aswell as basic performance technics for website that your webdevs should know about.
and having it down for as long as you do means there is something horribly wrong.

Now how rather than feeding us with stuff like that how about, a rough description of the problem and an estimate when it will be back up? Don’t ruin the great and successfull launch you guys had with bad communications.

Been down too much honestly. I missed the last uptime, and now all my gear is 13 levels outdated, bags are jam packed full…

Zzzzzzz….anytime would be great!

Still much better than FFXIV’s launch,…at least we can use a TP some of the time lol.

True. In fact if GW2 just crashed for everyone right now, the downtime would be better than playing in FFXIV’s launch.

Look there for current info, they are neglecting to make a news post about the downtime on the forums in any sensible location.

This is definitely unplanned downtime. Something went wrong or is being exploited. Otherwise it simply would have been a quick patch once an update was ready.

Two reasons I can think of why they have no ETA:
1. If they tell people about when it might be done, everyone will flood the servers all at once when it comes back up (will happen anyway, but much worse). 80% likely
2. They don’t have a good idea how long it’s going to take. Get comfortable, it’s going to be a while. 18% likely
3. Conspiracy to reduce player numbers occasionally since people who already bought the game aren’t paying much more. 2% likely

Where are the announcements on the Forum, where was the notice of this maintenance, where are the apologies, where are the regular updates? In fact I’ve struggled to find anything about this very serious issue and I can’t find anything anywhere on the official Guild Wars 2 website apart from this thread that has been posted unofficially by a player. Something so serious should be on the main page with constant updates and should be treated with absolute urgency. Overall since launch the trading post has been down a lot longer than it’s been available, yet Arenanet haven’t even apologised. The trading post is a vital part of the game and trading is a vital part of any MMO, yet Arenanet don’t seem to have grasp this fact as it’s been down for almost 24 hours already and it’s planned maintenance since it was working before they chose to take it down without any notice to players, main will have items tied up in the trading post too. One cannot upgrade equipment easily and soon you won’t be-able to progress as equipment won’t be good enough to complete the personal story until the trading posts comes back online. It’s like talking to a brick wall, but I ask yet again for Arenanet to give us proper updates and notice of planned maintenance like this.

This should be in the forums in the news section and updated constantly. Who gives a crap about some lamekitten social networking site. Those are not official outlets nor are they professional enough to be such news outlets.

This is bad form ArenaNet. Use your forums first then your social networking outlets.

TP is a joke, it’s missing some of the most basic features like armor filtering and especially item preview and even then they can’t seem to make it work properly, it’s always down, no wonder the economy is crap in this game.
And Anet seems to treat the matter as if it doesn’t have much importance, no announcement on the main site about why and how long it will be down, only some posts on Twitter that most people don’t watch.
What’s the point of having akittensite with an “Announcement” section if they only seem to know how to use friggin Twitter.

Last time the TP was taken down it was to prevent hackers from looting stolen accounts and I believe for the Karma weapon exploit, not because it was broken. My personal opinion, for what that’s worth, is that they’re trying to curb the impact of a new exploit. And they’re not announcing it until they can catch all the parties involved and fix the problem.
Mail was down too last night, right? That makes me even more suspicious, because they did that too during the last problem. And my husband said there was a duping exploit he read about, but he couldn’t find the link for me when I asked so who knows.

It seems that when they ban people, they don’t blacklist the game key code, so people are able to make new accounts using it.

Accounts that are banned, should have their game Key Code blacklisted so it can’t be used again. That way, if they want to open a new account, they need to purchase another game/Key Code for $49.

So Anet when should I bother logging in again then? Tomorrow? Next week? when? I’m not playing your game when a fundamental game service that has a huge impact on mostly all of us has been down for a whole day.

Tell us what’s going on and when to expect a fix for the BLTC or face losing players. Simple.

I kind of agree to most statements here but all of you are required to hold your horses.
The main problem is that the Anet’s staff has so much on their to-do list that they simply don’t have resources to write 2 sentences on their own(!!!!!!!!!!!) page.
Instead of fixing some main issues of guild wars 2 (broken skills/traits/balance/bugs/dungeons) they are trying to implement gw2 for macintosh? eeeehm…

As much pain as I am suffering with the Trading Post being down I must

See, I am now thinking of the fiasco and total cluster (cough) Diablo 3 auction house was, not to mention the other things not worthy of mention here…..

After drudging through the posts of retweets and random jargon of figuring out what the heck or who the heck the developers are talking about/to – I find the latest update was 6 hours ago. (Although, I did have a chuckle at the person who signs ^MK – I know it’s their initials, but it sounds SO passive aggressive. Like " We do not speculate about timeframes. Thanks. ^MmmmKaayyy")

I understand you are struggling to give us a time frame, but I believe most of us would be content with knowing what’s going on with the system?

Maintainence is quite a general term, is it updates? Fixing bugs? I believe most of us would be content just knowing why it’s down

there is way too much QQ in this thread… you paid for all of this when you bought the game. give them time they will fix it. they always do. less QQ more pew pew. and if your armor is outdated just buy some white gear from an armorsmith
