Huh, and here I thought that the splitter was supposed to be the solution and it would convert back to the original skin item with no armour class attached to it.
Should have done the same as they did with the dragon helm then and give us three, one for each class.
Did anyone actually try this yet? From my point of view it is not the original item then.
Edit: The wiki states:
If aiming to retrieve a skinned item (e.g. Gas mask), using the splitter will return the stat item and a non-stat version of the gas mask. Meaning you will gave to use another transmutation crystal.
No mention about the armour class…

Skin items do not come back as skins.

I’m still going to try it twice on the Gasmask. One to get it off the 80 exotic, another time to get it off the account bound low level helmet.

You can’t get it back as a skin, you can use a transmutation stone/crystal (yellow or silver) to put it on another item, but it will stay a light armor item.
I’m supposed to receive the appearance item separated from the stat item. Not two stat items. I would like my gems back.
