Transmutation Splitter w/ Runes?
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
The Transmutation Splitter is now available in the Consumable category for 300 gems each, 5 for 1350 gems, or 25 for 6000 gems. Transmutation Splitters will return the two current source items from any transmuted item and will also return an applied upgrade separately. All items returned from splitting a transmutation are soulbound. Items using a skin will return a base item with the original appearance. Another Transmutation Stone will be required to reapply the skin.
It sounds like you get both items back plus any upgrade.
RIP City of Heroes
That is so overpriced.
This is a great item and I would have bought some right now, but no way at that price. Make them 5/200 like the transmutation crystal and you would have a deal.
Dont know if it is intended, but you can remove Infusions with it.
I take it if you’ve transmuted over an item multiple times you can only get the most recent one back and no more? Or can you keep using stones to keep going back?
i had a cof GS trasmuted into a fractal GS (added a generosity sigil at this point) trasmuted into a twilight
I got back 3 separate items:
1 pearl zerker GS
1 Twilight without sigil
1 Sigil of generosity
100% happy with it
Should work the same with armors but i m not sure..
I’d say you get last skin applied + generic crafted item and rune separated.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
You should get back:
- the item that gave the current appearance
- the item that gave the current stats
- the current rune
Way too expensive…
Transmuation splitters weren’t technically meant as a bulk wholesale way of getting back your runes without destroying your gear.
I think they were aimed at people who had a real problem with transmuted legendaries applying the new stat mechanics or where you felt you made a mistake when transmuting in the first place that you want to undo.
In those respects, I feel that the high price is justified.
If you are contemplating using them to split high priced superior runes off a high priced exotic items after transmuting them with some lowly blue skin in order to sell both then you deserve to pay the price.
You should get back:
- the item that gave the current appearance
- the item that gave the current stats
- the current rune
if so it doesn t work
Instead of a berserker fractal GS i got a pearl GS and a twilight

Fractal gs is the item that doesn’t give stats so unless it is the skin currently used by the item, you won’t get it back.
It works as intended.
People really transmuted twilight over a fractal GS? no comment about that
Is a transmuted legendary still able to change its stats?

i had 4 fractal GS skins (uber ugly) and few gold….could not afford <.< to lose the sigil on it.
i am not complaining…..all i needed was the sigil and i got it back
Simply it was unclear how i got a pearl out of a coe GS, a fractal skin and a twilight.
You get a pearl version of the item with the stats if i understand well.

Can the splitter give a skin varient which I can transfer to PVP from PVE? if the item was originally a skin ?
Right now the item that it says it will give me is some lame 127-300 damage greatsword with the skin already applied

You think the sigil was worth more than what a splitter cost? Rofl.
This would have been nice oh say… a year ago.
Oh well, others at least get a use out of it.

Sigil of Generosity cost 18g , which is 372 gems. Think before you type.
Will we ever get these as in-game drops?
…or at the very least a very expensive Mystic Forge craftable?

They’ll have to do it if you hold your breath long enough. Start….. now!
Can someone explain how this works with skin items? Like the items you can’t equip that only give a skin for example the ones you get from SAB at the moment.
Does this give you back the skin item you can use on another item then(without having to use a transmutation stone cause skin items always work without stone)?
And is this account bound then? Cause I’d buy the splitter if I could give get some skins(especially limited ones that you can’t get anymore) back and move them to other chars.
well i just got my wings of tequatl and i was so happy i transmuted them and equip them . . . to an item that was soulbound T_T I’m a ranger and i was going to save the wings for my necro sooooo my question is. If i use the transmutation spliter on the back item do i get back the original piece and the wings of tequatl even though it’s a skin and does it stay soulbound or does it go back to accountbound?
i just figured out that they stay soulbound. Can i get a request to turn the wing skin back in account bound pelase?

so… If I wanted to recover a SAB skin for example (in order to reuse on another weapon), the transmutation splitter isn’t the right technique since the SAB skin is the item that doesn’t give stats?

I am not sure but my husband lost a Halloween scythe skin between this and a transmutation crystal so I would be leery of the skin. Seems like you should get it back though.
Alright, I bought the toxic shoulders and gloves skins for my charr elementalist and, SHOCK, they look like crap on him (stuff somehow always looks decent on preview), so I decided to get them back for my sylvari warrior. Now the skin is 400 gems each, so I figured I’d grab a transmutation splitter for 300 gems and give it a shot. What I got back:
- green toxic light shoulders with +2 vitality bonus on them, so not a skin that I could apply to heavy armor
- knights light shoulders
- sigil of the traveler
Is this intended? Shouldn’t I get a skin that I can reapply?
silly really, i put a skin (fused) on a dagger, then used a transmutation splitter. i now have a superior sigil of force, a pearl dagger and a dagger (soulbound) that has stats but the stone did not give me my skin, sellable. horrible waste of gems. wouldnt advise these ideas any further for marketing. i wasted 300 gems of the 20 dollars i had.
i wonder how many need to complain before its fixed, my guild has 400+.. is that enough?
Ok so i had a fractal back piece going back over 5 months ago i transmutated the skin, since then i have changed it well over 5 times, i used the transmutation splitter. it gave me my current skin (Plush Moto) and also it gave me the original which was the fractal skin, worked 100% as i wanted. hope this can help others!

hmm. i think most of it is working as intended. the ONE thing i don’t understand is sometimes you get back a “skin”, and sometimes you get back a green item.
just know that when you use the splitter you get back:
- item that you chose the skin from
- item that you chose the stats from
- any and all upgrades (infusions, sigils, etc)
so i don’t think you can get back some that you transmute over and over again with one splitter. haven’t tested if you can use a splitter on something that you’ve transmuted several times over so i don’t know regarding that. but the way to do it now is to transmute, and if you want to put a new skin on or new stats, split, then transmute again – that is if you want to be able to go back to the two most original items at any given time.
hmmm lol hope that makes sense. and yes it’s a giant gem (gold/RL moola) sink.
