For some reason the price of small scales has nearly tripled in the past two days, and as such it is temporarily profitable to transmute tiny scales to small scales. Not sure why the price jumped the way it did, but I imagine it will return to normal quite quickly.

I apologize if this post is not the type this forum was intended for, and in the interest of full disclosure, I do have 6 stacks of tiny scales in the bank. That being said, my point still stands if you don’t mind a bit of repeated clicking.

Hmm – I know about transmuting jewels from lower to higher rarity but I must be living under a rock. Transmuting mats like scales? How do I go about doing that (bracing myself for the deserved title “n00b”)?

Ahh thank you! The Mystic Forge… I would never have considered that. (Um, that’s not sarcasm – I don’t go near the MF due to the guaranteed risk of losing out on the transaction. So it would not have occurred to me.)

And +1 to Charisma for the good answer. This also answered another question I had – I had never known about Crests before I saw a reference to them in another post. I live a really sheltered Tyrian existence.

I can’t find any data about how much you will get as a result in transmutation. The 3 times I have tried it, I lost about 30s in a shockingly small number of resultant items.

I put in a full stack of something like iron and got about 40 of the next tier. Mithril to Ori was only 16.

And then you have to keep the skill point item in your bank to use towards the next waste of money attempts.

For a 250 stack mystic forge, my experience is it ranges between 4-80. A 50 stack is about 4-20

Depends on the tier too. I think he lower the tier, the more you get back.

Also, the price of small scales didn’t triple at all recently. it went up maybe 60%.
