So the UK has to pay more for gems than the US. Why cant price just be equal using usd to gbp exchange rates.

This just encourages people to use third party’s where price is equal.

Or accept bitcoins so price is even globally.

All american companies work this way. It was the same for the WoW item shop. 15usd = 15eur

Taxes. € prices also are about 36% higher than $ as 1€=1.356$.
800 gems cost 10 of the regional currency and yes, it kitten es me off too.

The price on Europe includes taxes, while the one in the states does not.

However, since don’t matter where the gems comes from, a lot of players prefers to buy them from a cheaper Authorized Reseller.

That’s because the American economy is going down and they’re 59 trillion dollars in debt.

Trotting this out again. It’s not just ArenaNet/NCSOFT that picked that exchange rate.

You mean just like Microsoft and Sony then. Copy and pasting from the last time this was complained about.
That’s basically the ratio that everyone uses. Just check out the prices for the next gen consoles.
XBox One – $499.99, £429.99, €499.99 – 1 to 0.86 to 1
PS4 – $399, £349, €399 – 1 to 0.875 to 1
GW2 – $50, £42.50, €50 – 1 to 0.85 to 1

It’s to cover VAT, exchange rate fees and currency fluctuation. If anything GW2 favors the UK more than Microsoft or Sony.

They aren’t going to float the Euro and Pound prices based on the current exchange rate. I believe they have Gem cards for each of those regions and the price they set back when the game went live will likely stay in perpetuity.

Because I believe you can’t cash NA gem cards from an IP inside the EU. They want their VAT.
