Is there any reason why the price is going up?

For a while it was going down, and held steady around 40g for about a week, and even dropped as low as 35g. Now its up to 46-48ish.

I was looking for investments, not sure about this one..

This is pretty common behavior for event items. What you’ll see is right before the event ends a bunch of people will get the idea that the supply is about to be cut off. They will all run out and buy up a bunch of them to sell them when the event is over to try to make money. If you look on gw2 spidy you will see that spike around Jan 3rd/4th. Then those people have no patience and all sell their items at the same time once the event ends and you see the price go down which you see from Jan 7th to 14th. Once the supply from the get rich quick traders runs out the price will begin to climb again. The real money is made in selling to those traders right before the event ends.
