Upgrade extractor & finishers in gemstore
Now i can finnaly swap my 20% Gold Bonus Infusion with 20% Magic Find one.
Thank you Anet.
Now I get it. I actually came to this forum to ask what I was missing with the extractors. I’ve been meaning to move a set of rune of the traveler to another character but in no way, form or shape could I justify using the extractors since the price would be higher than simply buying another set of runes. You know what they say, two travelers traverse more than one.
Really didn’t understand who the target audience for these were, now I do. They’re for timegated laurel gear. Which makes sense. I’m somewhat disappointed, I had hoped they were going to be on the cheap side (if they were 50 gems I’d buy them in bulk, now I’ll just buy new runes instead) but even this implementation is awesome. I wouldn’t want to destroy my 20 laurel amulet infusion either.
Thank you anet, this adds player choice. Which is fantastic.

It’s really nice that they took one of the suggestions and made it a thing. It’s always awesome ^.^ (The upgrade extractor, mobile trait reset, these are all things that were asked for in suggestions or game discussion)

dunno, seems anet have worst and worst designers there, specialy that dress. the lower part looks backwards (see pic attachement).
I understand they made the most kittenyest outfit for ascended to force ppl to buy transmutation stones.. I have a heavy warrior charr with a tiara now… a kitteng tiara. Plus the cultural human fiasco. But they realise for gem outfits they need to do to look amazing for ppl to spend money? I’m not sure…

Can anyone confirm if these will remove the new AR infusions from infusion slots?
Well just as I predicted… they used a poor design decision in order to facilitate the sale of additional gem shop items…
Dude…. We asked for this. PEOPLE SAID THEYD BUY IT FROM THE GEM STORE. so anet obliged. I wish people would stop complaining about what anet is selling, and be happy about the fact that they are actually listening rather than make it into some big deal about the gem store.

Can we get something more practical for taking runes/sigils out of armor and weapons??? I understand there are a select few who will need this for their laurel infusions or very expensive agony infusions, but most people just want to take the runes from one set of armor and put them in another. The most expensive runes in the game are about 10 gold. It costs almost 2.5xs more to extract the runes than to buy a new set of runes. C’mon arenanet, this does not solve the problem of people wanting to not spend 65-70 gold to buy a full set of runes every time they want to use a new armor skin.
This isn’t a bad idea, but it isn’t practical for anyone to use the Upgrade Extractor to move runes from one set to another, or just to put one set of runes in storage while you test out another. It is way overpriced for its function.
It’s not meant to be bought with gold. That’s one thing I think should be clear.

A set of 6 runes to be transferred to another armor skin that you’re in the mood to wear that day should cost almost $20 dollar each time?
It’s a thing that people wanted for runes and sigils, sure, but it was a really big deal for the high agony infusions. Those things can cost tons of gold. Thousands even, and if you want to upgrad the one you have, the gem price of this item helps.

These are obscenely overpriced even with gems paid for with real money. I will not spend $3.13 to move ONE upgrade out of an item, and I seriously doubt many people will. This is an absurdly unrealistic price for the item. It may be a convenience item, sure, but it’s still overpriced.
The only time I would ever consider this is if I was slotting +11 or higher agony infusions in my rings and wanted to upgrade them later on. Even then, I’d just slot a +10 in my ring for 40g and hold onto my +11’s until I maxed them at +15 before using them to save the gems.

People ask for a lot of things, that doesn’t make them good ideas. In fact 99.9% of things people ask for are bad ideas.
The fact remains that this item is only necessary due to a poorly designed mechanic. If we were paying a monthly fee in an MMO 8 years ago this “feature” never would have been needed. You would simply slot a +5 infusion into a slot that already had a +5 infusion and it would just become a +6 infusion. You wouldn’t need to spend $3 every time you wanted to upgrade your gear. I won’t even attempt to discuss actual runes/sigils because this item is just ridiculous when you look at the prices for those.
This is just one of the countless examples of how the game has to suffer in order to promote the gem store sales. People only asked for it because they knew Anet would never redesign the mechanic to actually be smart.
Then don’t buy it or use it.
I’m just fed up with this whole “oh we got a new thing!” “ITS IN THE GEM STORE ANET IS THE DEVIL!”
An extractor is a good idea. Whether it’s meant to be used on runes sigils or infusions, we don’t know, but it’s possible we get an upgrade that it is worth using on. It’s worth buying to me. If I ever need to get my infusions out of my rings or back piece. What it does is give me options for builds. So I don’t have to spend 20 laurels on another infusion, wasting the one I have if I want different stats.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?

Way too expensive for what it does.
this tool is only for upgrades and not runes / sigil ?
why not ? there are not only fractured people in gw2
“Fractured”? Do you mean fractals?
Also, like I said, you can use it on runes and sigils, and there are sigils that might be worth using this on, despite the price.
All infusions aren’t just agony. Karma, magic find, wvw, things bought with laurels that one might not want to lose.
Also the special forge infusions that gave added stats and agony.
Runes of divinity, sigils of generosity, those are worth using it on. The infusions are definitely worth it.

Are you kidding Lilith Ajit.6173? An extractor costs 25g worth of gems currently. A rune of divinity is worth ~10g. You should redo your math or is loosing 15g worth of resources “worth it” to you?
Same with Sigil of generosity – 10g loss.

Okay, rune of divinity. What about the other 5 valid examples I gave? Are 20 laurels worth it?
Kindly chill your antagonism.

That is in the eye of the beholder. To people like me who have hundreds of unused laurels I would just spend more laurels instead of 25g. There is not much useful to do with laurels anyway if you already have full ascended jewelry.

Well luckily unless you want to use them, or see that value as worth it, you don’t have to buy them.

It’s a luxury item and not meant for everyday use. They don’t want everyone to suddenly extract all their upgrades rather than buy them. That would only lead to a market crash and a loss of another gold sink.
Eventually however, there’ll probably be a lot more uses for it. There’ll probably be ascended runes and sigils by next year, which will probably be crafted, account bound and cost a lot. Legendary runes and sigils are also a possibility (swap between any rune/sigil), which I imagine would cost a lot more than 20g. For now though, I’m guessing the only valued use is on the laurel and agony infusions.
This person said what I was trying to, but I’m not nearly as eloquent or patient as he/ she is.

How can I see something that was available for almost for free (equivalent of maybe 5 silver per use) via ingame means in GW1 suddenly see in GW2 as worth it, if it costs 3.13€ or 25 gold?
This isn’t gw1. I think that should be blatantly obvious by now.

I, as well as countless others, are certainly willing to pay a premium to reuse our upgrades instead of having to buy new ones. That premium we’re willing to pay is what balances the economy; claiming that it will lead to a “market crash” implies zero knowledge about how the market works in the first place. We are saying that the premium they’re asking nullifies the value of the item in over 99% of cases, which simultaneously hurts ANet’s making money from the item and hurts the players by locking the functionality behind too high a price. It is a good item, and I do want to use it, but it is overpriced, and that is a problem.

Sure the item is a good idea, we got this one one GW1, in the game not in cash shop, and you want to tell me that no one from anet hasn’t got this idea when they develop this game? Was it difficult to put in a exo recycler, like with a repipe in mystic forge, like the one we have but instead of 250 uses for a master class, we coukd have 5 uses of the one they sell since today.
But hey, it’s not like they implement this item just after we can craft resistance infusion that cost a HUGE amount of money to get a +11, so we will have a choice: pay the gem or wait a Loooong time and money to upgrade the RA…
It’s not smart, and clearly a will to get the player to pay in $$.
In the same order, you drop regularly the yellow transmutation stone, easely, but no blue whatsoever, or very rarely since they change its name (i recall to get 5 blues one trought the totality of the personnal story, each time, but not anymore).
The both item are in the GS, but only the blue has a meaning, because nobody transmute their skin before 80!
A lame item price, a lame cash shop team, a lame director who give approval for anything in order to get our money (see T3 humain GS story).

I agree wholeheartedly!
I don’t see any point besides agony/laurels (and if you blindly applied those, you deserve to wait). This is not what people have been asking. If this was a permanent item at a bit higher price, I wouldn’t mind, but really this item should be relabeled or locked to prevent people wasting their money trying to extract runes or whatnot. The policy in gw2 is all about monetization. GW1 was made by anet and they did a pretty kitten good job making a fair 1 time fee game. Here, basic mechanics are sometimes sacrificed for the gem store. People can argue “convenience” but at what point is it just inconvenient otherwise?
The Upgrade Extractor is a great idea I would love to see a permanent one that is account wide! I see all the negatives and a few positives. I have to say as I have said all along this is a great game that is ever changing for the players. I also want to thank the Devs because they listen to what we say and try as they might they do put items and things into the game that people ask for maybe not every player is happy. All I can say to the unhappy people is if you think you are that great then make a game and do all of this these people take time to do what we the players ask of and deserve a Great Job from us!
A Permanent Extractor is something I’d buy too, but I shudder to think of how expensive it would be. >.>

Wow. Hey, chill it cowboys! Some of us (although I m starting to believe I m the only one) have actually studied economics and reading such comments where nonsense is presented as factual knowledge is “painful”. At the end of the day ANET has hired economist(s) to advise or even control their market activities. So, between you and them, you ought to understand where the bets, for “who knows what’s going on”, go…
Just stick to what you know. Or at the very least speak your minds with honesty, instead of attempting to imply you know what you are talking about, when you don’t.

Thank you anet, this adds player choice. Which is fantastic.
Well I would say that they should reduce the price and they, they would get more cash by selling many of those instead making an item, for only few people who don’t want to loose laurels.

Completely agree with Rising Dusk if the item is going to exist. Still not completely sure the item should exist though. Really this mechanic should be fixed for infusions without requiring an extractor.
