Value of Eternity/Legendaries
1. It will go up/down depending on value of of gold. Just to give you an example I got Bifrost for 1400g and Frostfang for 1200g, also sold my Eternity for 3.1k gold before that. This was around the time of right after Queen’s Jubilee patch when it was possible to do 25g/hr Deadeye farming.
It might also go down if new legendaries are out that look better but it won’t be that sharp of a drop.
2. Weekends.
3. Look at gw2spidy and check how much the recent legendary you are selling was sold for and list it near that.
Considering that Eternity is, effectively, 2 legendaries combined….is that even affordable to the market? I mean, one is hard enough to buy but an item like this is, perhaps, beyond the affordability of anyone who may actually want it.
Is it not better to sell the component swords separately?
My opinions
1) Depends on what new Legendaries come out. If better/prettier ones are released, the older ones may not have the same “awe” factor, thus possibly reducing value
2) I’ve noticed the Oceanic times are worse for selling lower end goods. For high end, that market is much smaller, so it can vary by day and time.
3) The only guaranteed price is filling a Buy Order. Otherwise, making a Sell listing opens you up for undercutting. I know this because I admit to undercutting others myself.
Thanks for the replies! Buy orders are currently around 3800g, sell listings around 5k. Would you take the buy orders or undercut the sell listings by 100-200g? Currently broke so I cant afford to list it too often.. 3800 for buy order -15% fee is kind of a waste of gold.
Wish I didnt combine it :P
It will come down to the precursor hunt and how difficult/time gated it will be.
If the precursors can be acquired without actually spending 300-700g depending on which lengendary you are making, it takes away a big chunk of the cost.
So yes the cost of legendaries will drop in the next 6 months if the hunt is introduced.

It’s your call. Buy Orders are less profit for you, but guaranteed to sell. Remember, there could be someone else waiting to sell their Eternity, and can undercut you by 1 Copper if they choose.
And for the record, that person won’t be me.

Current crafting cost for Eternity is 3825g94s54c, so you’re losing out on money there.
If you absolutely must sell it now and you just wanna break even then ~4,500g is your price and I’m sure there’s not alot of people interested in just breaking even.
Undercutting by a few hundred gold will also make people think twice about undercutting you.

Well I dont really have to sell it now, but I have decided that im never going to soulbind it. Seeing as im going to sell it eventually, and precursors are getting easier to come by /cheaper in a next patch, I guess now is the right time to sell. Unless these legendaries will increase in value, but I dont really see that happening atm.
No where does it say that precursors will be cheaper in the next patch, even if Anet was to increase the drop rate x10 you would need everyone to sell them, which wouldn’t happen, most would probably make the legendary, even if precursor crafting comes into the game soon, it will still take months for the prices to drop, and infact they may actually increase depending on how much time gating etc anet put on it.
As for your original posting about its value, it doesn’t matter what we say, it depends on what your goals are, when I made and sold The Dreamer people where asking 2k gold for it, and people wanted it for 1700g, i sold it for 1700g as i could do a lot of with that gold for my other toons etc, so it really depends on what your goals are.

I actually think that the scavenger hunt/crafted pre cursors will raise the price of Legendaries because it will raise the amount of Legendaries being crafted at the same time, subsequently raising crafting costs because the demand for t6 mats will be very high at that time.

This.
Precursors are a big reason why a lot of people don’t aim for them – especially if that person wants expensive ones like Twilight, Sunrise or Incinerator.
T6 will spike, as will things like Onyx/Charged lodestones, and likely Unid Dyes for Bifrost.

Silver Doubloons could easily double again…
