Vending in GW2 is Red Bull.

Vendors are for junk items (junk includes soulbound items that cannot be salvaged or dropped in the MF) and items where the demand on the TP is so low that you would make less money than the vendor pays.
Vendoring gives you wings. How would they calculate vendor prices for higher tier items? We set the prices on the tp, plus they want us to use the tp for listing fees (gold sink).
With things that can’t be traded, no clue how they’d determine the prices for those either :P Gold means less and less as time goes on, so it’s not like they’d just change the vendor prices every few months.

Vendor prices are low because they add gold to the economy. Bigger vendor prices just means they’d have to make the gold sinks bigger (bigger WP fees, higher tax on the TP, more expensive armor repair, whatever). Now I have no idea how they settled on what value for what items and of course it sucks when you’ve got something you can’t salvage or forge.

BUT AN INFUSED! I mean, 4 silver for an infused at a vendor. Do not be stupid. You know what I mean. 4 darn silvers for a infused.
From a different angle:
This game obviously has a medieval theme with futuristic aspects to it. If I were a blacksmith and took value in my work, I’d sell my craftings for 1-10G each for the quality work I’ve done. I purchase materials in the copper range I need. Higher tier materials will cost silvers.
If I were the merchant, looking at someone’s most precious and high-class accessory with super high stats and magic abilities, I wouldn’t offer someone 4 silver. He would laugh in my face, probably hit me so hard when he notice I was serious and left me for dead.
Understand?

Someone’s obviously never watched Pawn Stars.
“Let me call up my buddy who’s an expert in Ascended trinkets.”
“Oh it’s BiS? 5 silver is the best I can do. I gotta make a profit.”
Considering the ring is account bound, I think 4s95c is pretty good! There’s no telling if ANet will make these tradeable…so this item could be sitting on the shelf a while until someone picks it up.
If vendor prices went up, so would TP prices. Vending for kitten money encourages people to post items to the market. As for soulbound items, you can salvage them an list the mats.
Considering that 90% of items are actually worthless in this game, vendor prices are not that bad.
Why were you vendoring your ‘most precious and high-class accessory with super high stats and magic abilities’ in the first place?
My guess is that the item is soulbound or account bound. You used it, you bought it. Who would want to pay full pop for your second hand junk? Be happy you get anything.
BUT AN INFUSED! I mean, 4 silver for an infused at a vendor. Do not be stupid. You know what I mean. 4 darn silvers for a infused.
Hold up … no one is stupid because they don’t have the same idea you do. I don’t see a problem with that because frankly, the occurrence of someone vending an infused item is next to zero so the impact that it’s only 4 silver is also next to zero. Just because it’s infused doesn’t mean it should have any value to a vendor.
I am talking about vending prizes. It is redicilous. I feel so ripped off by every vendor in game that I’d like to take a minute to cry out loud here. I vended an infused for 4,80 silver. Feels awesome!!!! (Not). What is wrong with the vending prizes? If I could vend a infused on tp I’d get at least 5-10G for it. 4 silver? Really? Thanks Anet!
GW1 had specialty vendors who would trade at a similar price to the current “market” (supply and demand) from memory (such as Rune and Dye vendors).

Considering you’re lucky to get 3s for a unique almost 5s for the infused ring is quite the jump in price if you ask me…
LOL when I first started playing I sold everything to the vendor, sheeeeesshhh when loot dropped I would see the “not used by your profession” and destroy.
I shudder to think what i destroyed now …….. Well there was no trade tab on the chat….LOL
