As the title eludes to I’m a little upset, not extremely kitten, about wardrobes without helmets concealing the original helmets.

This came up with the ancestral outfit which I thought was pretty classy. I believed that it would go well with the clear glasses that I recently acquired and decided to try it out! Of course I didn’t notice it in the preview but it does in fact hide the glasses.

Not something we should halt production and fix RIGHT NOW, but wanted an idea of what the community thinks of this. (I know there are other big ticket items on ANET’s plate, presumably. Just wanted to see if it’s just me.)

Count me in. I’m a little upset about it too. The ancestral outfit is a beauty..shame that we can’t choose to show the original helmet. It’s funny how you now can swim in the water without the breather when you are wearing an outfit.

Outfits are an all or nothing deal by design. Even if the outfit has no helmet, “nothing” is still taking up the outfit helmet slot so to speak. If you mixed/matched outfits and armor, that would make them armor, thus defeating the purpose of outfits. It is a small price to pay to me considering that it does not cost charges to apply/change outfits.

I hadn’t thought about it till now, but the reading glasses would definitely go well with the Ancestral outfit. Those are just about my favorite helm on non-Asura characters (they are way too big on my Asura, unfortunately), and now I want to do this.

Not really. Player characters don’t need to breathe, so you can be underwater indefinitely anyhow. There’s no actual drown mechanic, just like all player characters don’t need to eat or drink, since there’s no starve or dehydrate mechanics (not like you’d be able to avoid dehydration, since all drinks in game are alcoholic, which is the opposite of hydrating; the Thirst Slayer achievement is hilarious, by the way).

What’s really funny is how all players are immune to the blistering ambient heat of lava, but can still burn to death. Apparently, Tyria doesn’t do convection; but then, how, exactly, cooking?

I’ll be honest, the fact that Ciara can’t wear her sexy eye patch killed any desire I had of buying it for her.

I definitely understand the idea behind it. Especially from a design/implementation standpoint of the developer. I could see the whole conversation between the developer and the product manager.

PM: Hey, let’s make outfits literally an entire outfit hide everything blah blah blah.
Dev: wat.
PM: Yea, the definition of outfit and armor in this context is different so let’s keep it that way during implementation.
Dev: Makes sense, but what if there is nothing to show?
PM: dontcaredoit
Dev: k ._.
