What do I have to do to get Jade Tickets?
Sacrifice a child to the great Zommoros. This increases your odds of receiving a ticket 1000-fold, to a whopping 5%. Offer good for one supply crate.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Simply play the game apparently. Of course, I am sure they’ll provide the ability to buy the boxes, that the tickets will be dropping from, on the BLTP.
If the odds are like the other boxes, I would expect the average person would need about 50 boxes to have a good chance of getting one. Iirc, the chance rate was said to be 1%. The most I read of was about 200 boxes without a ticket and a number of people bought 100 or so.
It certainly appears that there will be two types of dragon coffers with the one from the gemstore either always containing or have a much better chance at containing the tickets. We will know for sure soon.
Put a box in the gemstore that GUARANTEES me a weapon ticket. If I wanted to kitten money away in hopes of winning something, Id go to a casino. I am not going to gamble 100g on gems just for a slight chance at getting a decent weapon skin.

Another possibility is that the Rich Dragon Coffer has the same chance for a ticket but is called Rich because it gives you more/other stuff than the regular coffer. This would be my guess.

“Show your Dragon Bash spirit with these cool new weapon skins with a distinctly draconic look. You can find weapon tickets inside Rich Dragon Coffers and (rarely) in Dragon Coffers, and exchange them for weapon skins from Black Lion Weapon Specialists in every major city!”

Judging by the “(rarely)” qualifier, you are incorrect. Anyway it’s impossible to tell at this point, as we well know by now rare can mean any number of things. My guess is the rich coffers will have a slightly higher drop rate over previous gambling chests, but it will definitely not be guaranteed. The dropped coffers will have a terrible rate on the skins, that much is pretty obvious. Otherwise who’d buy one?

I hope that I am incorrect and you are correct. That would mean that ANet has been reading what people have been saying. However if its only slightly better than a terrible rate, it’s still not much of an improvement.
Well, after southsun i’m starting to hate them even more. First they release incomplete bug fixes (rage), second they work like a casino (more rage), third they keep releasing items on the BLTP and make sales to keep the gold to gem ratio high without letting it settle (Furious). From this you can see how the game is heading only one direction: make a lot of money before our players leave.
I think you meant who, not what.

Please don’t. If anything, I would prefer slightly higher odds of getting a weapon ticket within the game, but please don’t take the randomness out of it, that would be too easy.
Yeah, I’m not too happy with the SSC content so far. I have yet to get a single flipping SSC crate!! Not a single freaking one! RNG has really done me over this time around.
I seriously hope I get better lucky with the DB.
BTW, where did you see the pictures of the Jade Greatsword? I’ve only seen the intro video that showed stuff in the official announcement last week.
You can find a gallery of the weapon skins here: http://www.guildwars2hub.com/features/editorials/dragon-bash-content-coverage
There’s some interesting information regarding the coffers in the first link on there too. According to the Q&A you will be able to sell the dropped coffers on the TP, and the gw2hub person mentions that “the chances of obtaining a weapon ticket is quite generous”. Obviously that second part may just be hype, but we’ll see soon enough.

Hope it’s better than the SSC rng crap I got shoveled. Thanks for the link. /bow
Well, it appears the Rich Dragon Coffers have a better chance of having a ticket than the regular one.

The Rich Dragon Coffer is now available in the Consumable category of the Gem Store for 100 gems each, or 5 for 400 gems and 25 for 2,000 gems. This special festival box always contains Dragon Bash candy and also has a chance to contain fireworks, a Mini Holographic Risen Knight, and rarely a Dragon’s Jade Weapon Skin Ticket. Rich Dragon Coffers contain all the same items as the Dragon Coffers that drop commonly from Dragon Bash enemies, but have better chances at rare items.
Better here is undefined though. :/
Sell the soul of your firstborn child.
Those are some gorgeous weapon skins. But I’m torn — I was planning to work toward Kudzu for my Ranger and that longbow skin is oh so pretty. What to do…
I suppose step one is to get a jade ticket (which is about as likely winning the real lottery), so there’s a load off.

Well I did not learn my lesson with Halloween….
I did not learn my lesson with Winterdays….
I did not learn my lesson with Lost shores…
I did not learn my lesson with Flame and Frost…
I did not learn my lesson with Southsun cove…
But by gawds I hope I have learned my lesson after opening 20 of these chests and not getting a ticket or a mini.
Please just add the bloody weapons and minipets in the gemstore so I can outright buy them. I don’t care if they will cost more.

Random chance is much more profitable. Just get used to it. Buy to play without a sub fee needs to make money through the gem shop and this is how it does it.
I just got a ticket from a masterwork Dragon Coffer!! Also if you don’t want to buy them off the TP, just kill random things. I appeared to be getting one chest every five kills and I opened all 20 or so and boom got a ticket! Not sure if I’ve been extremely lucky or this’ll be the case for everyone. Either way may your coffers be full of jade!

Except… nothing…. NOTHING in the gem store is ever necessary. Nothing in those Coffers… is ever necessary. All the “RNG” items, both in this and past events, have always been cosmetic.
Aside from a small binge on F&F dye packs, I’ve never taken big gambles with my Gems. I got two five-packs of the Halloween boxes (since they didn’t have an ingame version), and maybe three or four five-packs of BL Keys (only when on sale), in all the time since release. I HAVE bought minipet packs, four times so far, but that’s because odds are still in favor of getting ones I need; when that stops being the case, I’ll move to the TP.
I will take my chances with what coffers I manage to farm. I will NOT buy coffers from the Gem Store. I WILL enjoy the game.
Arenanet is not forcing us to spend money. I DO buy gems, more than I probably should, but almost always for NON-random things. And I am fully aware that they are things I want, not things I need.
Anyone who thinks they are being FORCED to spend gems needs to re-evaluate their spending habits. Maybe ask themselves if they really, truly need whatever item they are RNG-ing for.
GW2 does not run a bad cash shop. There are games out there where you cannot be anywhere NEAR optimum setup without things sold in cash shops. There are even games out there where you need to spend cash JUST TO ACCESS SOME OF THE CONTENT.
GW2’s Gem Store does not do either of those thing. It’s not like we had to pay Gems to get to Southsun Cove when they added it. It’s not like we need to pay Gems for Exotic or Ascended equipment. (People CAN get exotics through the Gems-To-Gold exchange, true, but they can ALSO earn gold in-game. It’s not hard, even for people who don’t do crazy farms every day.)
Is Arenanet trying to make money? Well, YES. They are a company. They need to pay their employees, they need to pay upkeep/maintenance on their building and stuff, and yes, they probably would like a profit margin, since it will be good seed money to MAKE MORE GAMES WITH. Or make more things for this game. (You didn’t think the developers slaved away at computers for months on end all for free, did you?) But while Arenanet is trying to make money, it is NOT doing so in any heavy-handed way. It’s not forcing us to buy anything. Nothing the Gem Store sells confers actual advantages to in-game performance. And THAT is why the Gem Store is not bad.
