When I saw the ceremonial outfit, I was so excited. “That would look great on my human guardian and my norn Mesmer!” I thought happily “It’s even modest”. What’s not to love, I thought?

I’ll tell you what’s not to love. Clipping issues. Horrendous clipping issues.
Both my human guardian and my norn Mesmer have clipping issues that I can’t ignore—leading me to the decision that I will not be buying the ceremonial outfit, even though I like it.

On my human guardian, her arms and hands clip through the cloth at the hips. I can’t even see her hands, it’s so bad.
On my norn, her bum clips through the back, her hands clip through the hips (to a lesser degree then the human), and her long hair clips through the fan at the neck. It’s blatant, and it looks awful—which is a shame, because the outfit concept is so cool.

My other characters are charr, and they have the same problems they always have. Their tails clip through the back. The shoulders float. Of 7 characters, not one of them can wear that set without these problems.

Im not buying it because why would i spend 700gems on an armour that can only be used as a whole and not as the sum of its parts.
When in the past i could get complete armour sets for 800gems that i could piece together, mix and match, with other pieces of armour to make something i like. I dont have a single complete set of armour, everything is pieced together to something i like and looks a bit more unique, for what its worth.

The whole “customization” part kinda flew out the window with these outfits. I’ve been told you cannot even dye pieces individually.

I’m not buying it because gold<gems just skyrocketed. I sometimes wish there was a fixed price.

Belinda, my love, she ate up my gems.

And for real, i regret my decision of buying the assassin outfit. Without the ability to mix and match, the skin is as good as a dead skin to me, none of my characters wanna take it. So definitely NO MORE outfit i sweared.

I’m not buying it because it’s incredibly lazy to continue to throw skins into the gem store instead of incorporating them into rewards. Anet has completely lost the magic of the Guild Wars franchise for this push for money.

They’d get more from me if they put these items into the game was a reward for playing the game instead of as a reward for buying gems or gold.

True, the outfits are the lazy way out. With the Assassin outfit and now this, the outfits are even following the “light, medium, heavy” idea appearancewise—but instead of giving us a light, medium, and heavy armorset, we get outfits that aren’t customizable with other pieces.
Now, I like the idea of having non-traditional garb on my characters. Heavy-looking ceremonial for a mage, assassin cloth for a warrior—stuff that’s outside the box. But this is the wrong way of going about it—the lack of customization with outfits, combined with the horrendous clipping of this outfit, seems to show that arenanet doesn’t care about quality at all.

I’m not a modeler, but let me offer a counterpoint: they might not have created something as detailed and intricate if it was NOT a single piece of armor. All of the other armor sets have obvious “breaks” separating each armor part, which allows it to be split into multiple pieces. If you look at the ceremonial outfit, it has a more singular “flow” than the normal armor sets, which leads me to believe that even if they wanted to offer it as an armor set, it would not have been possible without changing the armor drastically.

I think it’s time for us, the community, to ask for more. It’s a gem store outfit. This is unacceptable. My problem is that designers knew about the horrific clips if you don’t wear a helmet and yet, they decided to go on and put it up for real money (for some players) instead of holding up a few weeks to fix the issues. I am really sad for this. I am sad not about the outfit, or any outfit, but with the whole idea of putting unfinished and badly designed things on gem store/game. I want to support them, but I will never support lazy and unfinished projects.

I like it and I’d buy it if I had a character that would go well with it (like a female human Guardian or Warrior). The clipping is actually not bad if you’re used to charr and their armor.

YIKES. I was going to pick this one up, since it’d be nice to have a Heavy armor set, but looking at those issues…

Again, after Traits and now this, I have to wonder if ANet bothers testing anything before they release it. :\

Can’t see any clipping on those pictures you posted. Do you mean the hand that is inside the armor? Well, that’s in almost every game with different armor styles. Can’t see a problem here.

Don’t worry OP, other people are going to buy it and that is all that matters. I am sure you don’t buy everything in the cash shop, right? and guess what? the show went on.

If you can’t see the clipping on those pictures, check this post I made and you will clearly see the clipping issues.

I like the trend of outfits instead of armor skins and I’m more likely to buy an outfit than a new armor (and I’ve bought a good number of the armor skins).

I have 8 characters and most of them have 2 sets of armor – my most played have 3-5 sets. Re-skinning sets of armor is expensive and not something I would like pay for as often as I’m otherwise inclined to do.

Having multiple outfits lets me change the look of my characters quite easily and helps me not get tired of the good armor skins I already own.

It’s a good thing Anet’s community staffers read through ALL of the posts. The OP’s voice will be heard, as will everyone else.

I don’t buy outfits because I like to mix and match pieces of around to make a unique set.

I would consider this one because it’s quite nice… until I looked at the boots.

The first 2 pictures show the hair clipping.

I don’t know why people make a fuss when hair clips. It’s not like it’s a new issue. If you pick long hair then you will have clipping issues.

The point of the thread is to encourage anet to put out better quality. Of course the show will go on, but if it can go on minus clipping issues, all the better. While some people will purchase the outfit, others won’t be able to overlook its problems, and that means less income on anet’s part. Nothing wrong with pushing for better product
