I thought that the named exotic weapons were nothing else than maybe a cool skin. Precursors I can understand why they are so expensive because they are used to craft legendaries but named exotics are just equal to all exotics of the same type (concerning stats).

Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks and best regards,

Why do you answer with such a dumb answer.

The only reason some are above 10g++ is:
- Some named exotics are craftable and so they just count materials that are almost always loadstones of some kind + other things. (Of course those who sell destroyer weapons do that for a enourmos too high amount like material cost 20g+ selling for 50g+)

The other random dropped named exotics aren’t that expensive.
They’re up to 5-6g max.

Hello Ziazis,

I can understand a very rare exotic to be bought for, lets say, 50 gold for its looks but more than that is just a waste of money.

I give you an example: right now there are 2 Aether short bows in the TP, one selling for 450 gold and the other for 508 gold. On the buyers side, there are several offers with the highest at 200 gold and the second at 95 gold and after that coming down from 14 to 1 gold.

These type of prices seem crazy to me unless someone is playing the TP making both sell and buy offers to manipulate the market.

What do you think?

Thanks and best regards,

Just to support my theory, please remember that there are a lot of newbies that started to play last weekend and got percursors they sold for hundreds of gold and probably do not know that only some exotics are percursors. Finding a weapon in TP selling for hundreds of gold can create in them the illusion they are getting a special weapon like the percursor they sold.

It looks a bit fishy to me..:)

Hey RedBaron,
nope there is nothing fishy about ‘Aether’. Material costs almost suffice the cost of the weapon.
See here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aether

That’s just alone the ‘Gift of Light’ (would cost you if you bought really all Loadstones needed for it for the cheapest possible price around 208g) yet alone 100 Mystic coins 33g more 50 Skillpoints that are about 10 Skillpoints 1g so 5g for these and Ancient Shortbow Stave which is the least effort to get with just 4 × 3 ancient blocks about 12 silver. So the overall cost would be about 246g + 15% TP costs = 282g20s.

That would be the cost to get with zero earning out of it.
So you can think about that the people didn’t get everything for cheapest possible way you can go up and down the price + if you want to earn out of it you gotta go + about 10% so it would be minimum of 306g.

edit: + those 500 tears of ascalon for that gift (that is also time invested) sooo yeah kinda ok

Some have runes which they alone are even more expensive than the weapon, in fact, before selling any rare/exotic, always check how much it’s the rune alone, because usally it’s more profitable to break the item, get rune+globes+mats.

Well, that was the very principle that Guild Wars 1 ran off of… And it worked very well for a long time.

Honestly, I don’t care for either of the legendary bow skins. And, currently, there’s no difference between them or an exotic. I’ll probably just settle for an Ascended bow and skin it to whatever I want.
