It’s not like you’ll be able to use them without farming a huge amount of account-bound Blade Shards… I don’t get it
Only reason IMHO for the price rise : speculators. Some players are buying cores, expecting them to be very rare in the near future and still wanted by a lot of players. I think on my side they are wrong and that this market will crash soon after the next patch.
I think y’all are talking about two separate items referred to as “power cores”?

Chances are they will not be a drop anymore. I got 10 of the color I liked just in case I wanted to ever make the back.
I am pretty sure I saw hints that some kind of exchange system was coming to get power cores. If that happens the price will plummet.
That does make sense with a blade type thing being added.. ok sold my 10 :P Hope I don’t cry if that does not happen and I want to make them :P
Yeah I don’t think the power cores are going away since Anet mentioned that blade shards aren’t. But thankfully there are speculators that don’t think so and I was able to make a nice profit off of them whether I am right or wrong.

It’s pretty common for event related items to surge in price before the end of an event, drop just after, and then slowly climb up after time. If I had to guess I would say that this is because at the end of an event people buy to get enough of the items to do one last thing and after the event everyone wants to clear out their inventory.

It depends on the server. By the time they fixed the bug with loot not dropping properly my server had tailed off to the point of struggling to kill one knight. I never got a core before the bug was fixed, and afterwards only got one of my three cores while on my home server.
