Well, since I don’t like the armour because I have differing taste, I’ll go look at his and try and see what everyone is screaming about.

The Zodiac armors aren’t to my taste, but I think that they are graphically very impressive, and should stay as they are.

The blue skin is quite unique, and in that regard it would be a shame to lose it completely. I still think we need both a blue skinned version, and a normal-skinned version, so both parties are happy.

I decided to buy the light skin last night being as it does look too good to pass up, though I wonder what it would look like without the blue skin… I’d be really interested to know which would look better on my elementalist.

And is it just me or does anyone else get a watchmen ‘dr manhattan’ vibe from the zodiac armor? I think it’s kinda cool. Though I would like to see the male versions a bit more skimpier, because we don’t get many skimpy armors us guys

Oh, interesting. I think that’s probably part of the character model geometry rather than the normal though. I’ll try putting this thing to rest once and for all by dumping the normal with texmod or similar.

I think they’re fantastically beautiful. Your character is made to look like some sort of celestial deva that would fit right into the Neverending Story, and it’s stunning. I am perfectly okay with artistic nudity – when applied equally to both genders. (A buttock or two would seem fair equivalent for a couple breasts, no?)

As much as I love the blue star field effect, it could be a touch bolder – especially for lower display settings.

And that phantasm bug is a major problem. I’ve seen the same issue on weapons for a while, so I wouldn’t expect the fix to be soon.

You’re correct that higher postprocessing makes it harder to spot, but they are still there. (1st pic)

I see where the added glare and the texture seem to make an odd circle, like the glare was going to go there but was moved yet no one removed the original glare spot. If this is a nipple.. well.. lol, someone at Anet hasn’t had real experiences with actual nipples, because what I’m seeing would be grossly over done. lol!

maybe someone can post a pic of the heavy and medium armors? and for males too so we can compare? :/

I just wish they hadn’t put that thing there.. Why on the boobs of all places? Is this their idea of “daring”?

Artifact caused by polygons, shaders and lighting. Always a problem when you use a dome to simulate a breast.

I have no problem with exposing human anatomy whatsoever, however, if you’re adding nipples, at least make them correctly.

Eh I think the nipples are my limit at ingame female body parts exposure. :/ Whatever those things are supposed to be, I think they should just remove them. They’ve made us look like aliens with blue skin anyway, wouldn’t be so farfetched to think that those things are anatomically correct for that specific species.

Ok so I’ve just completely redone my fire-themed outfit because I’ve fallen in love with the whole look of the ‘Dr Manhattan’ character from Watchmen and I wanna keep the blue skin :-P I hope it’s not changed or at least anet makes it so that people can dye the blue skin or have a separate set that has no blue skin so they keep us all happy :-P

Now I just need some skimpy legs for my male ele, some boots, and blue skin for his face and my Dr Manhattan outfit is complete.

Anet should sell different colored skin-skins, because I want my human to have blue skin but without the zodiac helmet covering his face

So i guess all the people in here who are complaining about the armor being too “revealing”, was also up in arms about x-men

Who cares, those armors are fanservice and they look quite nice.

Feedback:

- The shoulder on medium and heavy looks ….“too large”
- The butt in the female version of the light armor (not sure if it is also a problem for other sets) needs to be toned down. Trust me, I like butts, but that is too large of a proportion
- Make the stardust area dyeable

Since you guys worked hard oon the design of the armor, I will not critique it for anything else. I appreciate the hard work that you guys put in the game.

I think they show with the human bras, also. At least my hubby thought they did.

The main problem with the armor is that, indeed, they made it SO OPEN there, that if someone wore the armor without the blue it would be showing them. At least in a couple of the sets if not all 3. The point is they’ve gone rather far with the skimp in this set and it makes me wonder if they made the blue skin thing so they could get away with it. My beef isn’t with the set in particular, it’s with the general distasteful skimp they use with armor sets (some are excellent – I have mentioned them). It’s like they want us to be wearing lingerie to go fight battles. It’s silly and I have no desire to get any gem set for any of my chars.

I would like the blue to be dyeable. I’m also surprised at the sheer horror at seeing the female body. Acting shocked and acting like it’s the Forbidden Fruit is the reason why you get men stare so long in the first place.

I think most who call it too skimpy aren’t saying they should remodel it (they’re just hoping they get something classy in the future, aka Anise’s set or the Shaman sets or the Sylvari NPC sets or..) . the main complaint seems to be whether or not it should be blue or can be dyed. that won’t happen because then they’d allow flesh-tone, which would then be too skimpy for their audience.

I started a thread about this, but in case this thread is the only place to talk about the armors, I will repeat my comment here.

I think the light armor set should have some cover like briefs under the loincloth. I know the heavy armor has them already, and I hope it would be easy to add to the light. I love both of those armors that I bought, but it is a little embarrassing to swim in the light armor or to jump as a male norn with both knees high up out front. I don’t really view the blue parts as skin like some people do, but I would like it better if the metal and cloth elements treated the blue areas as skin.

Everything else I’m fine with, and in fact, I love everything else about these armors.

I don’t understand the headpiece thing that some players are complaining about. There are tons of helmets in the game that cover your entire face so you can’t see your character. I don’t see this as being any different.

I understand it might not be everyone’s cup o’ tea but there is the option to not buy it. AN is getting at releasing armor skins (wish more were in the game and not the gem store), maybe the next one will be better suited to your likes.

Ah yes, to everyone saying that we shouldn’t complain about the skin-like look of the blue, and how it wasn’t different than various super-hero costumes: I hate most of those, too :P

Seriously, was it necessary to make the opaque armor-parts not cover the breasts like, at all? This is why I only ever consider this kind of armor for my Asura, where ‘boobies’ are non-existent.
(Can’t we get more classy sets in the gemstore, please? The game already makes it hard to find a middle-ground between ‘covered from head to toe’ to ‘if I was to cosplay this, my boobs would fall out and everyone would see my panties’ – for scholars, at least.)

I mean, for goodness sake – the male breasts are more covered up than the female ones! How does that make sense for such a skimpy thing?

I bought the medium armour for my norn ranger. I’m very happy with it!

It seems to dye very cleanly and I loved the vapour effect rising off the skin. It matches my legendary Frenzy extremely well!

The only thing about being underwater is that the headgear wasn’t bundled twice to serve as an aquabreather too.

The fuss about the female chest is silly. It’s fine.

I just bought the light female armor today and I gotta say that I’m very happy with the look of it, eventhough I’m still not set on the dyes I want to use.

I think all of the Zodiac armors look very unique and very well designed. They may not be for everyone but they are the first armor set that I ever bought in the Gem Store, so ArenaNet definitely did something right there.

No real criticism from my side here. Sure, the armor looks different on different body types, but I am happy the way it is right now. My slim Sylvari looks great in the light set, even from behind and curvier characters look great in the medium and heavy armors, where the chest area of slim characters looks quite… empty I’d say. ^^
But that’s okay, you can’t always avoid having your armor look weird on some of all the Body types out there.

I also don’t think any of those armors is too revealing. They are sexy, yes, but the Zodiak-themed star body makes it look more mystical than skimpy in my opinion. ; )

I really like it, I was a little put off by the preview (being a solid blue colour), but bought a set anyway because yolo, the actual effects are awesome, I wouldn’t like it dyeable, it fits perfectly with the zodiac theme estavblished with the weapons and from GW:Factions.

Once my blades backpiece is powered up to be blue, I’ll feel like a proper celestial etheral angelic warrior from another plane of existence, perfect for spamming 1 in a zerg fight

@GhostLight: It does look amazing on your slim dark blue Sylvari. I LOVE that skin tone for her, that’s a beautiful dark blue. And it does look mystical on her. My beef is basically that it doesn’t look good on anything BUT blue Sylvari :P At least in my opinion. But your char is basically why I’m cool with the set as-is. It works great for some chars.

I’d just really really really like a set that has some coverage on the breasts and isn’t too frilly or too magitech (I want something for my Norn and Sylvari – and RP wise I don’t feel like they fit magitech well or too many frills), something classy like either the Hall of Monuments caster armor or the Raven Norn set or the Countess Anise set or the leafy sets of the Sylvari NPCs or like that Mesmer set in the profession page during the Chaos Storm video or the Mesmer set on the profession page or…….
And I think all these sets would prove to be very popular without being controversial! And they’d work on different races well (ofc, they’d have to adjust for Charr/Asura, but they do that anyway). Yes, I have a Mesmer bias, but all those outfits are AWESOME! And they’d be the first sets I’d even be tempted to buy….

This is and has always been a logical fallacy. The type of mindset that can get addicted to violence by exposure, waste their lives on it, and harm others because of it is ridiculously low, not even one in a million. The type of mindset that can get addicted to sex and sensuality on the other hand, wasting their lives on it, is very very common.
