amazon.com no longer selling gem cards
My work gives recognition rewards in the form of gift-cards, and I used to always use them on amazon to buy gem-cards.
However, my last order on amazon.com last month said that they were out of stock, and they still haven’t received any.
Since this is the only way I justify buying gems and I wanted to get some before the next living story content comes out, can someone please look into why amazon.com no longer has the gem-cards available?
I will see if I can find out anything about this. It could be simply that Amazon needs to order more cards to sell, but I’ll check.

I just checked and both Best Buy and Target in my area still have them so it’s not like they’ve vanished. Of course that is of little consequence to you if neither of these brick and mortar chains are in your area.

Yeah, they were out of stock for a while, but they had them in stock a few days ago. However, they sold out extremely quickly ( I think it said 14 left in stock when I happened to be looking on Amazon.) I have gotten gem cards from Amazon too with gift cards / point redemption.
and Amazon.ca isn’t selling them either, but they are allowing others (independent 3rd party dealers) to sell through amazon.ca at inflated prices.

I’d imagine that if they do have in stock, they’d sell like hotcakes in several minutes until there is nothing left.

or maybe they sell poorly so it’s not worth it for Amazon to stock them anymore.

Back now. I heard from our Director of Sales, North America, and then realized I hadn’t asked your location, SpudBob! But assuming you’re in North America, Amazon has ordered gem cards and I believe they’re replenishing as quickly as they can. It’s a popular item, as you can see from azzy’s post, but I feel sure they’ll keep them on offer.

On a side note, Walmart in my area don’t carry them at all. They changed locations with a new bigger super one, and sold all their cards previously before moving out. The new store location doesn’t carry any.
I live in Florida, and the locations are US 19 and Bay Pines both as far as I know no longer carry the cards.
Unless I had a gift card for amazon, I would not buy them online as I have no credit card.
I see that they are selling 2,000 gems for $34.90.
Not a very good deal.

That’s got to be some sort of mistake. Right?
Not Amazon but a retailer through Amazon. Most are never competitive.

We got the same at amazon.ca except it is 52$ plus tax. It’s just pure theft by 3rd party retailers selling through amazon. Amazon. ca hasn’t carried it in many many months.
It is the same in UK as well overpriced 3rd parties

Anet (Gaile)—anyway to get Amazon(world wide) to get these at real retail value and review their 3rd party seller rip offs?
Can Anet provide stock to Amazon in numbers to meet demand? Or is Amazon refusing to carry the cards because they don’t sell or little demand?

There was a period of reexamination on the part of… someone. I don’t know if it was them, or us. But the decision was made to order up, which Amazon did, and provably that purchase was a resounding success because from what I’m seeing here, they sold out again and needed to order more. (Which I think they’re doing now.)
The Sales Director told me they’re looking at other options. But I can tell you, as a consumer (as we all are) your voice is powerful. If you want a retailer or an online seller to stock cards, drop them a quick e-mail. If you feel the price a third-party (non-authorized reseller) is charging is out of line, decline to buy from them and tell Amazon (or whomever) that you want them to carry the cards. (We have no influence on the independent sellers on Amazon, sorry.)
I’ve gotten in the habit of asking my local grocery store to carry a certain frozen entree. At first, they ordered it for me. Then they started carrying it. The same can be true if you let your favorite store or online seller know “If you carry this, I will buy it.” For to a seller, there is seldom a more persuasive statement.

I’m going to give this method a try.
As a customer of Guild Wars 2, I’d like to formally request some ‘The Frog’ cameos to be occasionally stocked in Lions Arch.

Not theft. Not a troll.
Amazon can sell it to you for same ingame prices because they most likely buy it at a reduced price in much larger bulk directly from arenanet and can sell to a larger population.
Seller most likely can/does not buy in a large enough bulk from arenanet(if at all) to get a discount from them to make a profit. Thus the seller has to sell for higher price to hopefully gain a profit.
If you dont understand that then you have never attempted to sell anything on ebay.
Never worked in a small store only to have a walmart/home depot pop up.
That price is not theft. And considering that the seller has only made (48434 sales) in its lifetime and is competing against Amazon I would buy it from them just to support a small company. If I werent a cheap bum who could get 2000gems for less than $25

Give me a break. you’d spend 52$ (with tax and delivery to be added as well)for a 25$ item??? He’s likely bought all up the stock from legitimate retail store and artificially ups the price to look make a quick buck. It was 30 dollars a few months ago, then 35,now 52+. You could get double the gems plus free delivery if amazon would bother to stock them.
If he wants to sell it on ebay more power to him/her. But for a lagre retail site to allow that kind of rip off for 3rd party sellers instead of stocking the item is wrong.
There is a sucker born every minute, I won’t be one of them, but feel free to support him if you have that much disposible income.

I know this is a different topic but it would be nice if we could get gem cards here in Australia. Especially since the exchange rate is getting a little worse all the time.
If you’re still buzzing about here Gaile are you able to get much of an answer on this?
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

Think there is a chance of getting GW2 on steam like GW1 is? having a community HUB on steam, and getting on the front page slider, plus the discovery tool they implemented should boost sales.
If that happened, would there be a way to get our already purchased copies to activate on steam? or is that out of developers hands?

34.90 – 25 = 9.90 Tax? Lol. People get charged tax? Shipping? Get with the Amazon Prime bro.
I NEVER tip lower than $10. My local best buy has hundreds of cards. He currently has 30 in stock…
Actually just noticed my mistake. I must have opened the US one and read your comment. Yours is quite higher than the US and isnt even Fullfilled by Amazon actually:D:D:D:D:D:D

Nope—-3rd party flipper taking advantage of Amazon CA not carrying the product, also we get free shipping over 25 bucks so I usually throw in a book.
But I’ll hit EB store at the mall and get one for real retail price.

OMG-What a joke—LOL—seriously That is a 3rd party reseller, for 2x’s + retail price. + shipping and taxes. Would say more about the post , but it would likey lead to an infraction.

By remarkable coincidence (maybe) there’s a sponsored ad on my facebook page at the moment showing Amazon selling GW2 gem cards. $34.90, assuming US dollars.

So any update on this? Got some Amazon gift cards for my birthday and ordered two $25 gem cards from Amazon.com on 9/18. Delivery window is supposedly between 10/8 and 10/20 but as of today the items have not shipped yet. Any word on whether or not they (Amazon) are really carrying the Gem Cards or just stringing everyone along? Has anyone received one from Amazon (not a 3rd party Amazon seller) recently? The Gem Card link leads to the $34.90 priced version someone noted above.

amazon.ca(canadian amazon) has them in stock. amazon.com does not.
if you want cards currently bestbuy has them in stock for the $25 price point.
this may be a bit personal but….
How many people actually took the initiative to contact amazon and ask about the cards? Why? see screenshot.
On thinking about it. As long as I contacted amazon they were more than willing to refund me the difference.
Tip contact amazon and ask about the price. Took me 5 minutes and as you can see. They brought up giving the difference. Not me.

@DonQuack
I actually looked for a customer service link very briefly at Amazon and didn’t see one so thought I would follow up here first since I remembered seeing a thread on this issue. I bought the gem cards with Amazon gift cards, getting refunded the difference on a gift card purchase would seem to be problematic since I’m not using a credit card. I guess I would need to cover the difference with a credit card and get refunded the difference on that card by Amazon(?). I’m assuming you can use Amazon.com gift cards with third party sellers(?). Seems like a hassle either way. This is the only IRL money I’ve spent on gems in a few months other than a $10 purchase I made for someone else. So long as the gem cards are here before the holiday sales start I will be fine. Presumably at some point Amazon will cancel the order if they are not going to fill it . . .

Im not sure with gift card and third party sellers but this one is fulfilled by Amazon so maybe… ask em!

They ran out? Or the company decided to never stock them again? (I find that employees typically can’t accurately say, even after checking the computer — only about 1 in 5 low-wage staffers has the experience or training to be able to read the relevant status flags or notes.)
They were instock a few weeks ago when I walked through their game department, along with copies of the game. Sure the PC game section is shrinking quickly leaving only Blizzard and Sims games as the bulk of games you can buy off the shelf but the game card section is tiny relatively speaking. I’m wondering if they got misplaced as the reorg for the holiday shopping season.

Gamestop only carries $15 (1200 gems) cards cause its all that was supplied to them by you guys! I told them I’d buy them if they carried $25 (2000 gems)and they said contact the game staff themselves or w/e.
Walmart as I said in an earlier post, doesn’t carry them at all now sadly. The staff there won’t know what I’m talking about.
Walmart staff never knows anything. Their PC game area, at least at the stores near me, is a hot mess.
