Guild: The Eternal Blades Of The North[EBoN]
Server: Northern Shiverpeaks

I was talking to a guildy today about forgetting to gather in my home instance and just got the idea that I would buy an automatic gatherer for it if anet would sell one.
The idea is that it would automatically give you your daily gathers upon login or daily reset in a popup or chest at the corner of your minimap to show what you received.
Would anyone else like this?
Edit: It would require a log in to work and should cost like 5-6 copper per gather. That would make it a bit more expensive than using Ori tools so you pay for the convenience.

You would obvously have to log in to get it everyday, it shouldn’t be something that accumulates.
I want a butler! A golem butler! Or maybe a skritt. There could be variations.
As long as you enter the home instance daily, you’ll see the butler there waiting for you, and you would be able to choose when talking to him between him gathering for you, or you doing it. And if you choose to let them gather, it’s done instantly.
Whatever you choose, your currently equipped tools will be used, so if you had normal merchant tools uses would be consumed for them, and if you had tools with extra properties like the watchwork pick, you’ll get the effect of those.
Talking with the current helped would also allow you to choose between different helpers separately with each character, if you purchased more than one.
And once they are done for the day, the currently selected helper would roam the instane from node to node, ‘tending’ to them.
But ONLY if you have to enter the home instance and talk to the guy to get the stuff.
If you get them without entering the home instance, then I would never agree with the idea, because the whole point of home instance nodes is giving the home instance some extra meaning and use.

I think that sounds very awesome! I’d call it Serv-O-Tron
Wow , really? People is so lazy? , even in games?
Whats next , a robot that plays the game for you with 3s per hour?
It’s not about being lazy, it’s about memory issues more…
I mean you also have to realise this game is played by people from many ages and with different health statuses, different lives and time schedules.

write it down and frame it next to your monitor
Now there is a luxury problem if I ever heard one :-P

I’ve seen mmos that actually had bots implemented. You could program them and they would play while you are AFK and offline.
They never had problems with third party bots, XD.

One of the best ideas I have encounter was to use offline characters to do chores for income. So you can work in a farm or something and return for some free gold, the only problem is it doesn’t work in a nonsandbox world.

Technically the unbreakable gather tools and salvage kits are not much different. They just solve the problem of having to spend time to buy them and have then use inv slots. That’s why it’s convenience item idea.
At first glance, the idea doesn’t seem so outrageous: you spent a good deal of effort and/or funds to acquire the nodes and it’s tedious to remember to move a toon to the home instance each day & jump between the nodes. So why not make it automatic?
For the same reason that you can’t harvest nodes in any other zone without actually moving your character and interacting. Why should the home instance be treated any differently? If anything, it’s already more convenient because you get a guaranteed set of drops, without having to scavenge for them. IMO, that’s benefit enough.

Gemstore addicts would actually buy that.

or people who have more money than you and see the value in it.
This is a serious suggestion:
(1) take the money that you were going to spend on your idea and instead create a new character
(2) Equip it with bags (optional)
(3) park it in rata sum.
Bingo, your home node is mined in 1 minute. (all of the rata sum nodes are close to the entrance and next to each other).
BONUS
Remember those bags from above? You now have a character with a clean inventory with 80 storage slots that you can use to flip on the TP without having to worry about cluttering your main’s inventory.
