So yesterday i could buy 1060gems for 18g, right now i’m paying 18g for 900 and it is probably going to get worse. Funny how this item has such a big impact

I bought 1600 gems for a total of 28g. And I just bought 800 in the past few hours.

If I hadn’t recently got 2 of these for free, I would have been tempted to drop some gold on buying gems for these. I’ll be interested to see what else is offered in the next 2 days.

But why? They don’t give you more orbs than the other salvage kits… Am i missing something?

100% chance of salvaging runes/sigils so they are worth using to retain the more expensive ones.

yes, you salvage with these and can make ‘alot’ of money so when prices of these kits drop with 30% you spend 6 silver less per salvage, now if you salvage a couple of hundred items that adds up, this is basicly a good time to stock up on these. I’ve dropped 100gold on gems just now myself.

Yes … tell me how you make money, paying 15s more per salvage for couple of hundred items?
When the gems was 20s for 100 i was using BLSK to salvage rares and mystic kits for all the rest. Now i’m using BLSK only when i’m salvaging exotics, which have upgrades more expensive than 60-70 s . For rares now i’m using master salvage kit and for all the rest i use basic kits.
Dont tell me that BLSK have better chances for ecto, i know it. The chance is not higher enough to pay the 15s difference.

Keep in mind guys that when you do your calculations of profit using the BL kits not to forget the gold you lose if you had converted those gems to gold instead.

But if you got them for ‘free’ from opening chests or completing dailies, then ignore it. It’s a sunk cost anyway.

Nah 4g isn’t really woth it. Only would use it if ir contanins a highly valued sigil/rune. Way better if u stocked up b4 Halloween

I am assuming that you guys are talking about the 3 items going on sale the next 3 days. I am at work for the next 8 hours and im dying to find out what is on sale for today. I take it the black lion salvage kits are on sale? Can anyone tell me what else the sales are? Thanks a lot. I cant wait to spend my gems that my girlfriend got me for Christmas! Best gift ever. Thank you! Looks like ill be getting a couple kits later. Got enough boosters when the Keys went on sale and i opened a bunch of chests. I am hoping the keys go on sale again

My problem with BL kits is how to get rid of the 20 something of them I have, not how to get more. The things just aren’t worth wasting on 90% of items in the game. I only tap into them to pull runes / sigils out of something, and even then only if the rune / sigil is worth the use of the BL kit.

They should add a MF recipe to convert a bunch of BL kits into a 100 use kit or something.

They don’t profit even with the cheaper 16s per charge.
The odds of getting ecto with them is 1.4x you lose 1s per salvage at current ecto prices.
However buy 1-2 you should always get your runes out of old exotic items so it’s good to have a stack or two of them.

If you got those BL kits for ‘free’, either through daily achievements, quests or from chests that you opened from non-bought keys, you can absolutely make profit.

There are sigils out there that cost a lot and only come from drops. There are some armors out there that sell less than the sigil itself. With a BL kit, you can get back that sigil plus profit from selling that sigil back. And don’t forget about the ectos!.

Keep in mind though the taxes on the trading post.

So what you are saying is that gem prices have gone up by over 18% and you are saving 30% off the gem price of the salvage kits in the store… not so great of a deal in the end, unless you have the gold there no need to panic buy “cheaper” salvage kits.

It’s only worth it if you are a dollar—>gem buyer…which is obviously the POINT of the sale – sales mean nothing for the gold—>gem buyer in the end unless you speculated and bought gems at a much lower price pre-sale…it just makes you think you are getting a good deal.

I suppose it also sucks gold out of the economy through the gem conversion tax for people who buy gems after the fact and can’t do math… which is good for everyone.

I mean, that’s true, but the profit margins are very weak right now. There have been times in the past where I’ve made significant profit this way, but right now because of the high prices of everything, the margins are shot by taxes. You just don’t make enough gold to justify wasting a BL kit, which even if ‘free’ has a net worth intrinsic to itself based on its value in gems. Thus, they rot in my bank until a good opportunity comes up.
