credit card compromised after buying gems
My credit card company cancelled my card and sent a new one automatically as a precaution within the past couple weeks for that reason. I don’t believe i saw anything after i checked my transactions. I just thought it was a coincidence.
I played a game on the iPhone where players could pull your login info because it was not secured and for some reason was broadcasted when in the vicinity of your character. One friend lost his account and the whole bunch of us stopped playing it as a result.

Never had any issues.
No issues here.
Do you buy online often? Up to date anti-virus/Spyware protection? Recent scans?
and they wonder why europe, heck, most of the world nations, doesn’t trust a CC……and they complain about paypal, a payment system that IS more secure…..
Check your computer for malware.
You have a keylogger installed on your computer.
It tracks everything that you type.
You can even type your credit card in notepad and they would figure it out. You don’t necessarily have to make a purchase on a site, whether it be GW2, a bank or amazon.

I think you mean “I suspect you have a keylogger installed on your computer.”
Quite honestly, I’m scared to do online banking on home desktop PC. Maybe try an ipad or a clean desktop when deal with online payment.
i have a anti virus and run scans. nothing popped up. looking back i now suspect the breach happened at a hospital.
It was probably just a coincidence. You use your credit card to buy other things, right? Groceries, gas, pay your bills etc. Any one of those places could have stolen your credit card details.

Youch, public wifi. Personally, I never do anything that requires any type of login or transaction via a public wifi. Too many unknowns and hazards.

Could use a vpn.
Exactly, avoid login in any of your accounts if you are using a public network. It’s not hard at all to execute a man in the middle attack by ARP poisoning, specially with Linux a distribution. The software required for it is easily available to anyone and there are many guides that teach you exactly how to do it so even a dumb script kiddie can execute it and brag in front of his friends.
It’s just not worth the risk.
7 years and my card has never been messed with, then i buy a few gems and now i got someone trying to use my card in Arizona and on online stores. anyone ever see suspicious card activity after buying gems?
I’m sure by this point the OP realizes there are dozens of ways a credit card can be compromised.
My personal favorite is that we take all sorts of precautions to protect such data, but when we go out to eat, we hand our card to a perfect stranger and then they leave the room with it. Even if the waitstaff is completely trustworthy, we don’t know that they are taking care to ensure that the card number isn’t being copied down by someone nearby.
Never had an issue on-line or via Anet buying gems. Mine got replaced when I went on vacation to Wash, DC and ate at a PF Chang’s. Much more likely to get your CC # taken at a point of sale retail site than on-line.
