Go buy some giant wintersday gifts :P
They are no longer in the wintersday gifts. They were removed from the loot table when the event ended. Hence the jump in price. ATM grenth is 19g and dwayna is 29g

Except I got 2 Dwayna from the wintersday gifts today.
So is it still in the loot table or no guys?

Yes, I think it is, but they removed the wooly item exchange vendor. Which was an (unannounced) oversight – causing a kittenstorm in the wintersday ascended drop markets.
have you got any official message about them being removed from the wintersday boxes? if they have why are the boxes rising in price?
I purchased a grenth for 8g and saw it at 30g yday so i was happy. Currently has dropped to 19g today.
Serbski people who had them are just dumping because of the high price.

a bot placed 2.7 million buy orders (probably at 1c = it cost them 270g) which put it on the ‘highly demanded’ list = first thing everyone sees when going to the TP, so everyone was reminded about the item and just HAD to have it, so now the price is higher.
I really wish these botters would tell me before they do this to items so I can make strategic investments :P
I’m sure what’s annoying for anet is that even if they ban the account that made the buy orders, that won’t necessarily be the account that made thousands of gold off the price increase

Technically there isn’t anything wrong with those false buy orders.

Technically I believe I heard that each click of the mouse or press of the keyboard should result in one action.
So while there might not be anything wrong with it in terms of the result, the fact that someone got there with the use of an automated program AND there is no good reason to justify this (like say avoiding carpal tunnel syndrome) leads me to say anyone using it should be banned or at least get a temp ban as a warning for first offenders.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
If the buy orders are manually placed, i.e. without any third party click assistance, they are legit. In that case, though, we really should start thinking about buy order volume limits.
I’m starting to wonder why it is ok to automate certain processes involving the TP with the help of API’s – at the end of the day I am not allowed to bot in any other part of the game without getting punished – and for good measure if you ask me.
If “you” don’t have time to check your buy and sell prices manually, well maybe then “I” don’t have time to kill mobs manually.
This was just to illustrate my point and has nothing to do with using external sources or spreadsheets or walk-throughs or guides etc, maybe with the exception of overlays.

They probably need to consider putting a vendor value on those skins. That would prevent people from placing 1c orders.
all a vendor value would do is increase that 270g needed to 27,000g (assuming 1s price). harder, but not impossible.
a true bot isn’t even needed to do this. auto-clickers can be set to click 1000+ times a second, coupled with stacks of 250 and the multiple buy order delay feature and they can just use a macro to place a million buy orders within an hour. From spidy records, it looks like it does take them around 1-3 hours to place these. And this type of macroing is against the rules. So if I’m not allowed to do it, they should be banned for doing it.
The TP API is not the same as a bot. it can be, but not necessarily. For the most part, it just gives information. current price, etc. I can’t imagine why they made it possible to place buy orders through it, but I’m guessing it has something to do with making it easier to program the in-game TP. Have you ever used gw2stuff.com or anything similar that shows what events are going on? that is directly from the API.

Mystic it would still be possible without any macro/botting within 1-3 hours, you can click 5x fast and it will place 250X5 buy orders.

One thing about this makes me curious. After they’ve inflated demand for one item, do they actually go all the way and cancel those buy orders once they’re done? I at least would want my invested 270g back, but if it already takes a couple of hours to place the bids then how much more would it take to cancel them again?
Yeah, the buy orders are off now. They got what they wanted.

Seems like it took him 3 and a half hours to take out buy orders…. that’s pretty fast.

stacks of 250, 5 at a time. process: click field, type 250, click ‘place buy order’ 5 times. I’d estimate it would take maybe 2 seconds to do that? that’s 1,250 every 2 seconds = 2 million in 53 minutes.
you are correct, no macro even needed :P
you can get 5 clicks in? I’m lucky to get 3. 2 is pretty much guaranteed. if 3, it would take 89 minutes to place 2 million buy orders. boo my internet is too fast = first world problems :P still hate comcast.
removing buy orders should take about as long as placing those orders. just press play on a movie, position the mouse on the first ‘remove’, then click twice a second. should take around 67 minutes
