Is there any info? will knight power cores be usable for other things like blade shards?

Not that I know of. I’m reversing my speculation position on them considering that blade shards could be used to make cores after March 18th.

What “other” things can you use the Blade Shards for, besides the Backpiece (& the Gift of Blades, which currently is only used for the Backpiece)?

Awesome! I’m not trying to call you out or anything here, but do you have a link, so that I can read exactly what they said about Blade Shards? I completely missed this somehow (>_<)!

Considering the fact that the cores are sell-able (the main problem with blade shards) and that it’ll still be possible to make the back items after the update by getting blade shards from aetherblades and the watchwork sprocket generator, I doubt they’ll add another function for Assault Cores. They’ll still have uses after the fact, and if you don’t want them you can sell them to people who do.

there’s a concept…..sell things you don’t want. Been trying to do that myself…..see thread for details. Support BL, Anet by taking all your bank space.

I actually think the account bound loot (and loot drops in general) from the last 2 updates has been handled extremely well by Anet.

There were plenty of skins that dropped through achievements in game only:
Halo, Horns, backpacks, Scarlet Helm and Rifles.
I really liked the implementation of the backpack crafting, using multiple tiers of crafting materials. Even though prices went over the top for some mats in the first couple of days (Iron, T4 Dust), its a good way to introduce some material sinks where they are needed.
Also the choice of armosmithing profession to craft your gift of Blades influenced the prices of refined asc crafting mats (deldrimor ingot, Elonian Leather and Bolts of Damask) and their lower tier materials to get more into equilibrium, especially for leather in general.
The last 2 patches actually showed us where the bottlenecks of common mats are (iron, rugged leather, luminous dust, which spiked the most and that is a good thing because Anet actually adresses these issues).

It might take some time to adress mat sinks and shortages but they still adress it.
t2-5 cloth prices for bolts of damask, that got a little out of hand since ascended armor got released, were adressed with their inclusion to the loot table of alliance supply bags, rare skins and recipes that were only obtainable via rng during past ls releases, got reintroduced via the Ultimate Citizen Rescue Bag. I know that many of you are still waiting for a drop of monocles, the molten firestorm mini or a jetpack and say the droprate still isnt good enough. But those items were rare when they came along the first time and should be rare now. All masterwork, rare and exotic drops from the ultimate rescue dropped in price within the last 3 weeks and thats the point.

As a Trader, i dont like Anet reintroducing limited items to the loot table because i lose alot of potential profit but i can see the general benefit of it for the game and i am ok with it.
As a Trader, i dont see that move as a potential loss but as a possibility to reinvest when prices are low.

Also, in the last week, Anet responded to critizism on the forums and informed us that blade shards will still be valueable after the patch ends and we have to trade in heirlooms and belongings, which is a step forward in communication in my book.
Even though they didnt say anything about power cores, its a different pair of shoes, as they are tradeable.

I suppose , but logically I don’t think it makes sense to use blade shards to produce the Assault Knight Power Cores. Is there a current example of using something account bound to produce something that can be sold on the BLTP?

You are right but we re talking about crafting mats, not currencies.
However, i doubt that we will be able to craft power cores in any way. But maybe they reintroduce the Assault Knights as world bosses.

I don’t know if said vendor is actually there yet. The update made it sound like its still going to be something added in the future and they were just letting everyone know to keep their blade shards for the time being.

Yeah, new vendor isnt there yet but i gonna start stocking up on watchwork sprockets.
Marjories Sister also mentioned a bunch of black market traders in the Brisbane Wildlands that are disrupting the economy. Gonna need to find those lads.

What blows me away is the cores have gone up 300% in about 12 hours. Synergistics were just over 1 yesterday, just checked and offer price is 3.7….crazy, haven’t found shards vendor yet but I have 4000 of them hogging space in my bank.

Well, between posting this and listing mine for sale, they dropped 90 silver, heavy spikes going on.

a lot of movement (up and down) on cores right now. I don’t think it is outside the realm of possibility that cores would be used to colorize other ascended items….
