makeover kit cant change glow on Sylvari?
Are you sure you have the light toggled off? You won’t be able to see the glow changes unless your light is set to OFF.
Why would you be able to see a glow when it’s set to “off”? Seems the opposite would be true (??)
The option is to toggle ambient lighting on or off, not the Sylvari’s glow on or off. The glow only appears at night-time, which means ambient lighting must be toggled off.
@ImagoX
You have to turn the light off in order to see the glow effect, cause Sylvari only glow in the dark.
I tried the makeover kit today and have the same bug as Veronikah.1784:

No glow effect at all, only a weird lighting bug. Pyrowolf, does the glow effect show up for you at all?

yes it is off nicolle I tryed everything i even went on to my brother’s tower ( better specs then my laptop ) and didn’t notice any change. I can change the skin pattern color But the Glow color or intensity doesn’t change at all. :/
Thanks for your help, everyone! We have figured out what is causing this and are working on a fix.
Hi. i just want to confirm that the kit WILL alter the glow on a sylvari. I’ve done it. You just won’t be able to preview it in the makeover window.
If you’re as desperate to change your glow as I was, preview the look in character creation and then go ahead and use the kit on your character.

Will the fix be released with a patch? or will it be a stealth fix?
Well yesterday whenever I used the total make over kit I was able to set the glow just fine. It’s not exactly ‘spectacular’ its just a little extra.

Bah! I wish I had read this prior to using my makeover kit. I ended up having a light pink glow which I could not preview prior to accepting the changes. :/
Since I use the kit(glow preview not bugged when turning lights off), the glow at night have disapeared in game. I’ve tried a preview on another kit and it seems to not work anymore. I’m a little disapointed… I don’t know if I must use another kit or wait for a fix :’(
I just used a kit last night to add glow to my sylvari (since I accidentally set the glow slider to 0 during initial creation and now she’s level 80!)
Some say that if it’s night where you are standing when you use the kit, you can see the glow when you turn the lights off. Others say that the glow intensity slider graphic looks to be at 100% (or whatever you previously set it to) but the setting is at 0% until you mess with the slider and sync them up. Even others say the glow won’t work until you move to a different map.
I didn’t see a glow at all while using the kit (lights OFF) but I added one anyway. I figured out what color I wanted by going through the new character creator (but not finishing the character), then going back to my sylvari and replicating the settings. Chose my color and then set the slider at about 75% just to be safe (in case there’s a 100=0 type error in the code). I get a pretty bright glow that I’m very happy with.
Hope this helps until there’s a bugfix!

Here’s a pic of the issue, maybe this is useful for you devs.
As I said before, it kinda looks like a bug with the specular map.
Messing around with the slider or using the kit while nighttime does not help.

I’ve found the problem to this. It’s a simple fix, go to both genders and make sure both sliders are maxed. It should fix the problem of glow not showing up on neither gender. For some reason, the glow slider is at minium affects both genders regardless. Hope this helps everyone
Will those of us who have gotten a “bad” glow because of not being able to see it get a new makeover kit when this is fixed?
Vayra – Elementalist
Forkrul Assail – Mesmer
I got a bad glow on my Sylvari when I used the kit, I wasn’t able to see the glow when i was using the kit to change my lvl 80 mesmer. A new makeover kit would be nice, but we’ll wait and see what happens.

I followed this and it worked. Thanks for figuring that out.
