So we all know that race change has been suggested alot of times. Many suggestions on how to bring it into the game and how to make it work. I think that we should be able to change race, why? Well, because this is a game created for casual players. Casual players dont have the time to simply reroll and lvl up the same class again but now with another race. Like me, I only have about 5 hours in the week to play this game. That means I have no time to level up another character or make tons of money to craft it to lvl 80. People make mistakes, and choosing the wrong race is one mistake that will keep you frustrated forever. I am a sylvari thief with t3 and im jealous on humans with simple duelist armor for example. Please make this happen, you will make a LOT of your players really really happy. And if your against it, just simply dont do it!

Let me get this straight.

You took a sylvari all the way to 80, looked at the max armors and decided that you like human armors better, and now you want Anet to change the game because you’re too lazy to invest in a new character?

Final armor set is one of the first decisions I make before I roll a character. It’s not ANet’s fault that you didn’t plan ahead.

this game isn’t just for “casuals”… how many casual players won the recent pvp tournament? i think you will find plenty of serious players in this game. I consider myself a semi-serious player and i have had an easy time finding other people who are also serious to play with, and i have fun.

I do agree that a race change feature would be a good addition to the gem store because it will get more people to buy gems. Other than that, your situation makes me laugh. Knowing there is someone suffering with having to play sylvari makes me like the races i chose even more. teehee :P

You said you have 5 hours a week to play. You can use that time to level your new character.

yeeeeeeeeeeaaaah……. no. it makes precisely no sense at all for this to be something that happens.

With the story being so tailored to each race I can understand why they don’t want people to change the race of their characters. Personally I would be for having race changes and just have the stories reset back to the beginning… but I understand their POV.

I made a Charr eng and wound up hating charr. So what I did was I crafted an asura eng from 0-80. I used gw2crafts to get the best deal on it. I just considered that the fee of what I might have needed to spend in gems to change the race of my character.

Thankfully he didn’t have anything expensive on him and I just tossed his soulbound stuff into the forge. If they had expensive runes/sigils I would have used BL kits (which you can get from dalies). If you have expensive gear etc. on your character… then why did you invest so heavily into something that you weren’t happy with in the first place? I know it would kinda suck though : /

I think they said it’s because your character is tied up with your personal story etc etc.

I hope to have a race change too.

I have spent a terrible ammount of money race changing in wow for different animation’s. After a few months of using the same attacks i want a new set of animations to enjoy.

I dont understand why some people set rules for themselves, its a game, things should be allowed for fun not disallowed because its easier than levelling a new character.

Many games easily reset race based achievements and account unlockables , WoW and racial mounts and armour ect.

Just make a simple choice selection screen where people can choose options for their story or reset their entire story line.

They could even make it £20 i would be so fine with that.

Even with personal story connection it should not be to hard to change things,
Just make it known that if you change races, your choices from Race 1 will be reflected to Race 2.

In character creation, you have 3 choices that you have to make (i think 3 times? armour, past, racial identity)

So:
Armour:
A1
B1
C1

Past:
A1
B1
C1

Racial Identity:
A1
B1
C1

Lets say you are a Human who rolled: A1, C1, B1
and you want to roll a Sylvari, your personal story choices would be: A1, C1, B1

If there are more than 3 choices as some races have, you would just make D,E,F,G random letters such as A2,B2,C2,A3

Wolfey there are achievements attached to those. I would just say reset them all for the ease of it and to remove it as a counter argument from a-net.

My problem is birthday rewards based off of character date created. I have 4 level 2 characters I made day 1 because I knew this was going to happen due to Guild Wars 1.

Meaning if I want to have birthday stuff x5 (including my 80) I have to keep them and buy a new character slot.

All that said, I really don’t care about changing race too much. I can, as I said before, just buy a new character slot and level it to 80 in less then a week if I really want to.

T3 Cultural costs 119g. If you’re as casual as you say you are, then why and how do you have T3 Cultural BEFORE FINDING OUT YOU DON’T LIKE THAT RACES LOOK?
