after a bit of leveling on my new character i found out that the TP is full of scammers, to give you an example:
i searched for a helmet lvl 10 (can’t get it lower anyway) and found one in the TP for 1S 9C, then i checked the merchant and found out i can get the exact same helmet for 80C.

what i would suggest in this situation is that the TP keeps track of merchant prices so it can’t go higher then the merchant sells, it will make scamming players a bit more difficult.
now i am smart enough to check the merchant price but some are not, they get scammed all the time because of this.
a more alarming scam are the trait books, the adept one is sold cheaper so that’s ok but the higher ones are sold more expensive.
they should put a stop to that, it gives the TP a bad reputation and i don’t thin you want to see that happening.

That’s not scamming. It’s location utility you’re paying for. Plus the ability to salvage said item.

why would you buy something to sell it later on, it’s cheaper to buy the mats directly and cheaper to buy the helmet and the mats then buying the helmet from the TP….

Yes stop them. Also stop the supermarkets because when I go there to buy some bananas it turns out that the supermarket price is more than the person who grows them. Instead I should trek all the way to Iceland to buy some delicious Icelandic Bananas because it is cheaper buying direct.

That is not scamming, but selling overpriced. So you can check various sellers or trade convenience for coins, just like in real life. No, anet should not get involved in this, play like an adult, think like an adult, I do not want the in game version of a nanny state.

A scam is a transaction in which fraud allows one party to obtain a gain that they would otherwise not have obtained.

There is no fraud involved in what you have described. Just for the record, it is ALWAYS less expensive to acquire any object in the game than it is to buy it off of the TP. When you buy it from the TP you are paying a premium in order to save time.

Sorudo, come on.

The trading post is all about supply and demand. You’re not force, under any circumstances, to buy what is listed on the market. if you don’t like the price of buy now, put a bid out. If you don’t like the bid price, to bad – demand is to great for your to afford.

The trading post forces no one to buy anything, and using it is 100% voluntary.

It’s a free market. We don’t want, need or dream of any more regulation. The “can’t sell below vendor” rule is already annoying enough.

But… how else will I make money on the TP?

To be completely fair, I would sell for 1s7c if I saw that listing. The Trading Post is a type of PvP you know.

Why complain about an item that you can get for 25c cheaper than the TP. Do you realize the amount of helmest that guy has to flip to make any money from this “scam?”
