I want to give you my money I really do but the thought of paying £4.25 for an extra slot that only upgrades one character is sickening.

Skins, skins are outrageous I can’t believe you can charge £8.50 for a skin that is ONE TIME USE that you have to pay more money to reuse every time you change a piece of gear, no other game does this and for good reason, I’ve not once seen anyone use them either I can’t think why that might be.

Seriously though I understand that a subscription free game has to bring in money to run but this is so ridiculous no one I know is willing to buy, prices are too high, the rewards are too low.

Because tax is included, whereas in $, it isn’t. Exchange rate fluctuations also have to be factored into the fixed price.

The US doesn’t have VAT, and we pay our sales tax on the back end partly because it’s regional (different states have different rates and rules about who has to collect the tax).

Not this again.

Have you checked out the UK prices for the XBox One or PS4 and compare it to the US price? You’ll see the same roughly $1 to 0.85£ to 1€ we see with our Gem Store.

Must be a reason both Microsoft, Sony and ANet/NCSOFT uses these ratios.

Point one is your opinion, which you’re entitled to. I disagree – I think the items in the gem store are luxuries and the prices aren’t that outrageous. Everyone values things differently. I have bought an extra character slot, but I don’t buy extra bag slots because to me they aren’t worth it. My husband has bought bag slots and thinks I’m foolish for buying the Pirate’s outfit (Yarr!).

If you think it’s too expensive for what you get, don’t buy it. If enough folks don’t buy something it will probably go on sale or have it’s price lowered.

I allot $10/mo to the gem store. If I wanted all those bag slots or whatever, eventually I’d have them and be paying less than I did to play WoW so I’m happy.

The Unlimited Gathering tools are more than I really feel like paying for them, but I’m cool with the armor skins and have a few I’m considering for when I finish levelling certain characters. It’s all about what’s important to each player and what THEY care about. I will also spend money on stupid minis because I really NEED an army of tiny quaggans to follow my bidding. Will buy every quaggan yes must have.

Putting armor skins in the “locker” with achievement skins would be nice and save everyone a lot of trouble and clutter, but I do admit it’s not a dealbreaker for me. I have a ton of transmutation crystals I’ve gotten without ever having bought any. Like, over 50 of the regular ones and quite of a few of the lv 80s ones. I dunno how it is for everyone else.

I agree. These essential upgrades are way overpriced, and now that the gold to gem is so steep, how is one supposed to get them without paying with real money?

I want a Bugatti Veyron but there is no way I will spend that much money on a car that’s probably going to end up with me losing my license. Is the car overpriced or do I just not want it enough to pay what it’s worth ?

Compared to a lot of subscription-less games, the bank space, character slots, and bag space in GW2 is pretty reasonable. What exactly in the gem store is so gamebreakingly necessary?

I haven’t bought any of the extra bag slots and probably never will unless they go down in price (just not worth it to me for how much I feel like I “need” them). I did buy some bank tabs, but let’s be fair – if I wasn’t a hoarder I could probably clear out 2/3 of the stuff in there easily and not have lost anything important (LS items, skins, stuff that can’t be replaced). Two tabs are crafting crap that I could get rid of if I levelled crafting faster/more efficiently – but naw, I paid money so I don’t have to plan well and make smart choices. I bought extra character slots so that I could have a total of 8 – but I didn’t NEED them and I could still enjoy the game without needing to obsessively have one of every profession just because.
