went from 6 to 9s each in a few hours…whats happening? its been around 6-7s for a month

Market manipulation and/or banned bots (assuming banned accounts have their postings removed from outpost)

FYI, the trading post is shared across all servers, NA and EU.

Powerful venom sacs, powerful bloods, vicious claws and vicious fangs have all had thousands of their supply bought out at the same time it seems. Armored scales and ancient bones seem to have been untouched so far.

This will be interesting, let’s see how long it takes before the prices come down again, or if they stay at this new pricepoint. If tons of bots are still active they should flood the market with their big supply and bring prices down again. If the price stays up, then their supply isnt bigger than the demand, which could mean bots are being banned right now.

OK, I’ve been doing some brief thinking.

I’m not entirely sure if there was a bot wave, because if there was, we’d also see Armored Scales rise in price. Armored Scales were farmed hardcore by bots (several price points have well over +2000 items listed) so it’s untouched.

I’m 90% sure this is market manipulation. I was actually considering awhile back to buy out the venom sacs since the supply was so little, but it’s also very expensive to buy out

If someone out there had enough money, they could control all T6 markets except Scales. Scales are just so numerous that it would be very very difficult to buy out.

Another theory though – scales largely come from water-based creatures. So perhaps there was a bot wave, but Arenanet has had fewer reports from players on water-based bots (since not many people go there to begin with)

I was thinking the same thing, underwater bots get reported less because less people see/report them so that could explain why scales won’t go up (yet).

Nothing would be greater if everyone came together and refused to put in buy orders above what it was before Scarface decided to play god with the T6 mats. Nothing left for him to do but cry himself to sleep.

Of course that’s impossible. There are already thousands of buy orders way higher than they were before this started. At least half of them is the perpetrator, his buy offers are way too obvious with the huge increments from the last.

It’s all good though I’m a patient person. Gonna wait till they drop again before I start working on my pred.

At the time of posting it’s been longer than usual since someone (likely a bot) has filled tons of buy orders at the same time (causing the buy price crash). Could be that scale farming bots have been banned but manipulators have so far avoided scales since there’s a much bigger supply of them.

TP came back up, elaborate totems are now 21s and powerful venom sacs are 19. Wonder if there’s a relation. Perhaps they cleaned out a lot of posts from banned accounts.

Or people are speculating that it’s going to go back to the levels immediately after the November ban wave, with totems at 28 and bloods at 24.

Remember when globs were 38s a piece? I also kept buying ectos because I thought they’d keep going up. But it quickly crashed.

This price increase is going to bring my legendary process to a grinding halt. There’s no way I’m paying that much for those items. No. Way. I’ll just wait a few weeks for it to drop.

Look at Karka Shells + Powerful Bloods, two of the items farmed by bots in Southsun. The volume of sell listing has decreased by half over the last few days and prices have started to rise rapidly (karka shell prices have doubled in the last 3 days). Other farmed T6 mats (armored scales + elaborate totems) have also seen a decline in sell listing volumes but not at such a rapid rate (presumably because these bots are less obvious dude to operating under water and produce a larger number of items resulting a larger total volume of materials to be absorbed by the market). Obviously this is not an act of manipulation, as these generate spikes that last a matter of hours at the most and result in a return to the previous sale values and sell listings relatively quickly.

Well then it seems I invested in the wrong T6 mat (so far).

I invested about 120g in to armored scales about a month back when they were 8s. At the moment I’m sinking red. Maybe I should wait a month…

Don’t fret… I invested about 150g in armored scales at about 6s… If we hold on to them long enough we’ll atleast break even!

It looks like a run is starting on armored scales as well. They are being chewed through very quickly. 3800 at 678c just disappeared.

Armored scales have gone up 2s in last 40 minutes.
