where do i sell my 23 unlimited gather tools?
nevermind..I didnt realize I had to “exchange” them. All is good here now. And I just wanted to throw a thank you out to Anet for doing this. I know a lot of people spent tons of gems to get all the tools. I would have if I had them to spend. Just know, that in the middle of the complaints, there are those of us who appreciate this.
Hoping to get my gems back soon, I deleted it as per their instructions and sent a reply back =/ it’s been many hours.

Gaile mentioned that they expect to be swamped by requests for refunds, so give them some time. Possibly up to a week.
Anet does something nice, and people complain. The forum is batting 1000.
It’s a very legitimate complaint. ANET should refund the gems as a courtesy to those who substantially invested in those tools. And that’s regardless of whether I think they were foolish to drop all those gems on all those tools when they were soul bound.
Failing that, allow them to be reset and sold on the AH.
But to devalue their investment then not compensate them… That’s a bit unfair.

Did you get it for multiple tools? I was scared they would come up with a reason to not give it to me for all, so I only deleted one first.

Here is a short (translated) instruction:
1. You have to delete the additional items. Only Soulbound items are allowed (which is weird imo if you already traded them for Account Bound ones. Still waiting for an official reply here).
2. Reply to this ticket so an employee can verify the deletion and send the gems.

Sort of makes sense to pay for only soulbound tools, no reason for a player to exchange more than one set for account bound.

I had trouble understanding the Only soulbound items part as well. But now I understand (hopefully) it means that if you bought the 1000 gem version that exists now, they are not giving refunds for those ones

i do wonder, why are ppl worried about something that only saves a ton of time?
if i buy allot of hair spray for different reasons and then i can exchange one for an all around hair spray do i expect a refund on the rest?

i followed the instructions and deleted 21 of my tools but havent received a refund yet. i did this shortly after i created this thread but i gues due to weekends and a huge amount of requests like this one it could take abit longer like Gaile told us. The waiting is making me nervous now tho :p

Considering that they never told us the tools would become account bound eventually, I have a hard time understanding how we were impatient. I can’t even bother to touch your hairspray example…. it’s too far removed from a rational thought.

I finally got a response, and they confirmed the correct amount of gems I was to recieve. They also told me that I would find that amount in my gem balance. But it still says 0 gem balance after multiple relogs.
I feel like I had something similar happen before and they had me do something to then display my proper amount of gems. But I don’t remember what it was. Did anyone else have this issue?

Delete some temp file somewhere, if I remember correctly… I only had that problem once, but relogging the next day showed the correct amount of gems for me.
i have 2 characters with 2 sets of harvesting tools.
We got them for commodity…..that is totally lost if you have to get to the bank to Exchange them.
I know it because i also have a single copper feed salvage thingy….
And i’d like to have another despite being account bound…..
I guess that having them account bound won t change anything for me…
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Me too, except I don’t stick with one character… I usually play three or four. That’s why I bought 3 sets originally, and started on the fourth. And, because I’m silly, I’ll probably buy new sets too (just to have them!). But I do like them to be accountbound as I can now move the bone pick and clown to my necro (who had an original set) as I find it more fitting for her!

Don’t worry, this same thing happened to me but they got around to refunding my gems earlier today.

Got 800 gems refund like 1 hour after deleting the tool and emailing, nice.

1.- Open a ticket
2.- Wait for response
3.- Delete the unwanted tool(s) as indicated in the mail
4.- Reply the mail specifying the tools that you have destroyed
5.- Wait for them to verify and refund your gems
